Spiritual Gifts 1 AKJV Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I would not have you ignorant. BSB BSB: Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.
AKJV You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, even as you were led. BSB BSB: You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
AKJV Why I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. BSB BSB: Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
AKJV Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. BSB BSB: There are different gifts, but the same Spirit.
AKJV And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. BSB BSB: There are different ministries, but the same Lord.
AKJV And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all in all. BSB BSB: There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people.
AKJV But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with. BSB BSB: Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
AKJV To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; BSB BSB: to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
AKJV To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: BSB BSB: to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
AKJV But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. BSB BSB: All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.
The Body of Christ 13 AKJV For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. BSB BSB: For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.
AKJV For the body is not one member, but many. BSB BSB: For the body does not consist of one part, but of many.
AKJV If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? BSB BSB: If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
AKJV And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? BSB BSB: And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
AKJV If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? BSB BSB: If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
AKJV But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased him. BSB BSB: But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design.
AKJV And if they were all one member, where were the body? BSB BSB: If they were all one part, where would the body be?
AKJV But now are they many members, yet but one body. BSB BSB: As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
AKJV And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. BSB BSB: The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”
AKJV No, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: BSB BSB: On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
AKJV And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. BSB BSB: and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty,
AKJV For our comely parts have no need: but God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked. BSB BSB: whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
AKJV That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. BSB BSB: so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another.
AKJV And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. BSB BSB: If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
The Greater Gifts 27 AKJV Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular. BSB BSB: Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.
AKJV And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. BSB BSB: And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.
AKJV Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? BSB BSB: Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
AKJV Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? BSB BSB: Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
