A Prophecy against Gog 1 AKJV And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, BSB BSB: And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 AKJV Son of man, set your face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, BSB BSB: “Son of man, set your face against Gog of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Prophesy against him
3 AKJV And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: BSB BSB: and declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.
4 AKJV And I will turn you back, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you forth, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armor, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: BSB BSB: I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you out with all your army—your horses, your horsemen in full armor, and a great company armed with shields and bucklers, all brandishing their swords.
5 AKJV Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: BSB BSB: Persia, Cush, and Put will accompany them, all with shields and helmets,
6 AKJV Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with you. BSB BSB: as well as Gomer with all its troops, and Beth-togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.
7 AKJV Be you prepared, and prepare for yourself, you, and all your company that are assembled to you, and be you a guard to them. BSB BSB: Get ready; prepare yourself, you and all your company gathered around you; you will be their guard.
8 AKJV After many days you shall be visited: in the latter years you shall come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. BSB BSB: After a long time you will be summoned. In the latter years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and all now dwell securely.
9 AKJV You shall ascend and come like a storm, you shall be like a cloud to cover the land, you, and all your bands, and many people with you. BSB BSB: You and all your troops, and many peoples with you will go up, advancing like a thunderstorm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.
10 AKJV Thus says the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into your mind, and you shall think an evil thought: BSB BSB: This is what the Lord GOD says: On that day, thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will devise an evil plan.
11 AKJV And you shall say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, BSB BSB: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will come against a quiet people who dwell securely, all of them living without walls or bars or gates—
12 AKJV To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn your hand on the desolate places that are now inhabited, and on the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the middle of the land. BSB BSB: in order to seize the spoil and carry off the plunder, to turn a hand against the desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
13 AKJV Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say to you, Are you come to take a spoil? have you gathered your company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? BSB BSB: Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages will ask, ‘Have you come to capture the plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to carry away loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize great spoil?’
14 AKJV Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, Thus says the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwells safely, shall you not know it? BSB BSB: Therefore prophesy, son of man, and tell Gog that this is what the Lord GOD says: On that day when My people Israel are dwelling securely, will you not take notice of this?
15 AKJV And you shall come from your place out of the north parts, you, and many people with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company, and a mighty army: BSB BSB: And you will come from your place out of the far north—you and many peoples with you, all riding horses—a mighty horde, a huge army.
16 AKJV And you shall come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring you against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in you, O Gog, before their eyes. BSB BSB: You will advance against My people Israel like a cloud covering the land. It will happen in the latter days, O Gog, that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I show Myself holy in you before their eyes.
17 AKJV Thus says the Lord GOD; Are you he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring you against them? BSB BSB: This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you the one of whom I have spoken in former days through My servants, the prophets of Israel, who in those times prophesied for years that I would bring you against them?
18 AKJV And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, says the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. BSB BSB: Now on that day when Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, My wrath will flare up.
19 AKJV For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; BSB BSB: In My zeal and fiery rage I proclaim that on that day there will be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.
20 AKJV So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men that are on the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. BSB BSB: The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will tremble at My presence. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
21 AKJV And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, says the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother. BSB BSB: And I will summon a sword against Gog on all My mountains, declares the Lord GOD, and every man’s sword will be against his brother.
22 AKJV And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain on him, and on his bands, and on the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. BSB BSB: I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrents of rain, hailstones, fire, and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.
23 AKJV Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD. BSB BSB: I will magnify and sanctify Myself, and I will reveal Myself in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
