The Restoration of Israel and Judah (Ezekiel 28:25–26)
AKJV The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, BSB BSB: This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
AKJV Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write you all the words that I have spoken to you in a book. BSB BSB: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you.
AKJV For, see, the days come, says the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, said the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. BSB BSB: For behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore from captivity My people Israel and Judah, declares the LORD. I will restore them to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will possess it.’”
AKJV And these are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. BSB BSB: These are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah.
AKJV For thus says the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. BSB BSB: Yes, this is what the LORD says: “A cry of panic is heard—a cry of terror, not of peace.
AKJV Ask you now, and see whether a man does travail with child? why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? BSB BSB: Ask now, and see: Can a male give birth? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale?
AKJV Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. BSB BSB: How awful that day will be! None will be like it! It is the time of Jacob’s distress, but he will be saved out of it.
AKJV For it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: BSB BSB: On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will break the yoke off their necks and tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers enslave them.
AKJV But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. BSB BSB: Instead, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
AKJV Therefore fear you not, O my servant Jacob, says the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, see, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. BSB BSB: As for you, O Jacob My servant, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, and do not be dismayed, O Israel. For I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return to quiet and ease, with no one to make him afraid.
AKJV For I am with you, says the LORD, to save you: though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, yet I will not make a full end of you: but I will correct you in measure, and will not leave you altogether unpunished. BSB BSB: For I am with you to save you, declares the LORD. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have scattered you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
AKJV For thus says the LORD, Your bruise is incurable, and your wound is grievous. BSB BSB: For this is what the LORD says: “Your injury is incurable; your wound is grievous.
AKJV There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines. BSB BSB: There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sores, no recovery for you.
AKJV All your lovers have forgotten you; they seek you not; for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of your iniquity; because your sins were increased. BSB BSB: All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer seek you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins.
AKJV Why cry you for your affliction? your sorrow is incurable for the multitude of your iniquity: because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you. BSB BSB: Why do you cry out over your wound? Your pain has no cure! Because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins I have done these things to you.
AKJV Therefore all they that devour you shall be devoured; and all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil you shall be a spoil, and all that prey on you will I give for a prey. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, all who devour you will be devoured, and all your adversaries—every one of them—will go off into exile. Those who plundered you will be plundered, and all who raided you will be raided.
AKJV For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD; because they called you an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after. BSB BSB: But I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the LORD, because they call you an outcast, Zion, for whom no one cares.”
AKJV Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built on her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof. BSB BSB: This is what the LORD says: “I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have compassion on his dwellings. And the city will be rebuilt on her own ruins, and the palace will stand in its rightful place.
AKJV And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. BSB BSB: Thanksgiving will proceed from them, a sound of celebration. I will multiply them, and they will not be decreased; I will honor them, and they will not be belittled.
AKJV Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them. BSB BSB: Their children will be as in days of old, and their congregation will be established before Me; and I will punish all their oppressors.
AKJV And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the middle of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach to me? says the LORD. BSB BSB: Their leader will be one of their own, and their ruler will arise from their midst. And I will bring him near, and he will approach Me, for who would dare on his own to approach Me?” declares the LORD.
AKJV And you shall be my people, and I will be your God. BSB BSB: “And you will be My people, and I will be your God.”
AKJV Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain on the head of the wicked. BSB BSB: Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with fury, a whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
AKJV The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he has done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days you shall consider it. BSB BSB: The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come you will understand this.
