Jesus Appears by the Sea of Tiberias 1 AKJV After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise showed he himself. BSB BSB: Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way:
AKJV There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. BSB BSB: Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
AKJV Simon Peter says to them, I go a fishing. They say to him, We also go with you. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. BSB BSB: Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.
AKJV But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. BSB BSB: Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus.
AKJV Then Jesus says to them, Children, have you any meat? They answered him, No. BSB BSB: So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” “No,” they answered.
AKJV And he said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. BSB BSB: He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
AKJV Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat to him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. BSB BSB: Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea.
AKJV And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. BSB BSB: The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.
AKJV As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. BSB BSB: When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.
AKJV Jesus says to them, Bring of the fish which you have now caught. BSB BSB: Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
AKJV Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. BSB BSB: So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not torn.
AKJV Jesus says to them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples dared ask him, Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord. BSB BSB: “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.
AKJV Jesus then comes, and takes bread, and gives them, and fish likewise. BSB BSB: Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
AKJV This is now the third time that Jesus showed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. BSB BSB: This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.
Jesus and Peter 15 AKJV So when they had dined, Jesus says to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me more than these? He says to him, Yes, Lord; you know that I love you. He said to him, Feed my lambs. BSB BSB: When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus replied, “Feed My lambs.”
AKJV He says to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me? He says to him, Yes, Lord; you know that I love you. He said to him, Feed my sheep. BSB BSB: Jesus asked a second time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus told him, “Shepherd My sheep.”
AKJV He says to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Love you me? And he said to him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus says to him, Feed my sheep. BSB BSB: Jesus asked a third time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was deeply hurt that Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love Me?” “Lord, You know all things,” he replied. “You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
AKJV Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were young, you gird yourself, and walked where you would: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch forth your hands, and another shall gird you, and carry you where you would not. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 AKJV This spoke he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he says to him, Follow me. BSB BSB: Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. And after He had said this, He told him, “Follow Me.”
Jesus and the Beloved Disciple 21 AKJV Peter seeing him says to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? BSB BSB: When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
AKJV Jesus says to him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to you? follow you me. BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
AKJV Then went this saying abroad among the brothers, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not to him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to you? BSB BSB: Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”
AKJV And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. BSB BSB: There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written.
