Sins Requiring a Guilt Offering (Leviticus 5:14–19; Leviticus 7:1–10)
AKJV And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: And the LORD said to Moses,
AKJV If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie to his neighbor in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or has deceived his neighbor; BSB BSB: “If someone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by deceiving his neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or stolen, or if he extorts his neighbor
AKJV Or have found that which was lost, and lies concerning it, and swears falsely; in any of all these that a man does, sinning therein: BSB BSB: or finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely, or if he commits any such sin that a man might commit—
AKJV Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, BSB BSB: once he has sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has stolen or taken by extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost property he found,
AKJV Or all that about which he has sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it to him to whom it appertains, in the day of his trespass offering. BSB BSB: or anything else about which he has sworn falsely. He must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value, and pay it to the owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.
AKJV And he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest: BSB BSB: Then he must bring to the priest his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram of proper value from the flock.
AKJV And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he has done in trespassing therein. BSB BSB: In this way the priest will make atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.”
The Burnt Offering (Leviticus 1:1–17)
AKJV And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses,
AKJV Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning on the altar all night to the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it. BSB BSB: “Command Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the hearth of the altar all night, until morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.
AKJV And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put on his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire has consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. BSB BSB: And the priest shall put on his linen robe and linen undergarments, and he shall remove from the altar the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed and place them beside it.
AKJV And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp to a clean place. BSB BSB: Then he must take off his garments, put on other clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place.
AKJV And the fire on the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. BSB BSB: The fire on the altar shall be kept burning; it must not be extinguished. Every morning the priest is to add wood to the fire, arrange the burnt offering on it, and burn the fat portions of the peace offerings on it.
AKJV The fire shall ever be burning on the altar; it shall never go out. BSB BSB: The fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it must not be extinguished.
The Grain Offering (Leviticus 2:1–16)
AKJV And this is the law of the meat offering: the sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD, before the altar. BSB BSB: Now this is the law of the grain offering: Aaron’s sons shall present it before the LORD in front of the altar.
AKJV And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat offering, and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is on the meat offering, and shall burn it on the altar for a sweet smell, even the memorial of it, to the LORD. BSB BSB: The priest is to remove a handful of fine flour and olive oil, together with all the frankincense from the grain offering, and burn the memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
AKJV And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it. BSB BSB: Aaron and his sons are to eat the remainder. It must be eaten without leaven in a holy place; they are to eat it in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
AKJV It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it to them for their portion of my offerings made by fire; it is most holy, as is the sin offering, and as the trespass offering. BSB BSB: It must not be baked with leaven; I have assigned it as their portion of My food offerings. It is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
AKJV All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire: every one that touches them shall be holy. BSB BSB: Any male among the sons of Aaron may eat it. This is a permanent portion from the food offerings to the LORD for the generations to come. Anything that touches them will become holy.”
AKJV And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses,
AKJV This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer to the LORD in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a meat offering perpetual, half of it in the morning, and half thereof at night. BSB BSB: “This is the offering that Aaron and his sons must present to the LORD on the day he is anointed: a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening.
AKJV In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baked, you shall bring it in: and the baked pieces of the meat offering shall you offer for a sweet smell to the LORD. BSB BSB: It shall be prepared with oil on a griddle; you are to bring it well-kneaded and present it as a grain offering broken in pieces, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
AKJV And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead shall offer it: it is a statute for ever to the LORD; it shall be wholly burnt. BSB BSB: The priest, who is one of Aaron’s sons and will be anointed to take his place, is to prepare it. As a permanent portion for the LORD, it must be burned completely.
AKJV For every meat offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt: it shall not be eaten. BSB BSB: Every grain offering for a priest shall be burned completely; it is not to be eaten.”

BSB BSB: “Tell Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, the sin offering shall be slaughtered before the LORD; it is most holy.
AKJV The priest that offers it for sin shall eat it: in the holy place shall it be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation. BSB BSB: The priest who offers it shall eat it; it must be eaten in a holy place, in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
AKJV Whatever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy: and when there is sprinkled of the blood thereof on any garment, you shall wash that where on it was sprinkled in the holy place. BSB BSB: Anything that touches its flesh will become holy, and if any of the blood is spattered on a garment, you must wash it in a holy place.
AKJV But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden shall be broken: and if it be sodden in a brazen pot, it shall be both scoured, and rinsed in water. BSB BSB: The clay pot in which the sin offering is boiled must be broken; if it is boiled in a bronze pot, the pot must be scoured and rinsed with water.
AKJV All the males among the priests shall eat thereof: it is most holy. BSB BSB: Any male among the priests may eat it; it is most holy.
AKJV And no sin offering, whereof any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile with in the holy place, shall be eaten: it shall be burnt in the fire.
