Psalm 142 142 Psalms Book 5 American King James Version I Lift My Voice to the LORD (1 Samuel 22:1–5; Psalm 57:1–11)
AKJV Maschil of David; A prayer when he was in the cave. I cried to the LORD with my voice; with my voice to the LORD did I make my supplication. BSB BSB: A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer. I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift my voice to the LORD for mercy.
AKJV I poured out my complaint before him; I showed before him my trouble. BSB BSB: I pour out my complaint before Him; I reveal my trouble to Him.
AKJV When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then you knew my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privately laid a snare for me. BSB BSB: Although my spirit grows faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a snare for me.
AKJV I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. BSB BSB: Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.
AKJV I cried to you, O LORD: I said, You are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. BSB BSB: I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”
AKJV Attend to my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. BSB BSB: Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.
AKJV Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise your name: the righteous shall compass me about; for you shall deal bountifully with me. BSB BSB: Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.
