The Throne in Heaven 1 AKJV After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up here, and I will show you things which must be hereafter. BSB BSB: After this I looked and saw a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had previously heard speak to me like a trumpet was saying, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after these things.”
2 AKJV And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. BSB BSB: At once I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne standing in heaven, with someone seated on it.
3 AKJV And he that sat was to look on like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like to an emerald. BSB BSB: The One seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and a rainbow that gleamed like an emerald encircled the throne.
4 AKJV And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and on the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. BSB BSB: Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads.
Worship of the Creator 5 AKJV And out of the throne proceeded lightning and thunder and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. BSB BSB: From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. Before the throne burned seven torches of fire. These are the seven spirits of God.
6 AKJV And before the throne there was a sea of glass like to crystal: and in the middle of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. BSB BSB: And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, as clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, covered with eyes in front and back.
7 AKJV And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. BSB BSB: The first living creature was like a lion, the second like a calf, the third had a face like a man, and the fourth was like an eagle in flight.
8 AKJV And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. BSB BSB: And each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
9 AKJV And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, BSB BSB: And whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the One seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
10 AKJV The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that lives for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, BSB BSB: the twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated on the throne, and they worship Him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11 AKJV You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for your pleasure they are and were created. BSB BSB: “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things; by Your will they exist and were created.”
