1. 1ULBለጣዖት ስለተሰዋ ሥጋ፦ "ሁላችንም ዕውቀት እንዳለን" እናውቃለን።ዕውቀት ያስታብያል፤ ፍቅር ግን ያንጻል።BSBBSB: Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
2. 2ULBአንድ ሰው አንድ ነገር እንደሚያውቅ ቢያስብ፥ ያ ሰው ፥እንደሚገባ እንደሚያውቅ ገና አለወቀም።BSBBSB: The one who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.
3. 3ULBነገር ግን ማንም ሰው እግዚአብሔርን ቢወድ እርሱም በእግዚአብሔር ዘንድ ይታወቃል።BSBBSB: But the one who loves God is known by God.
4. 4ULBእንግዲህ ለጣዖት የተሠዋውን ሥጋ ስለ መብላት በተመለከተ፦ "የዚህ ዓለም ጣዖት ከንቱ ነው፤" እና "ከአንዱም ከእግዚአብሔር በቀር ሌላ አምላክ የለም" ይህንን እናውቃለን።BSBBSB: So about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no God but one.
5. 5ULBብዙ "አማልክትና ጌቶች" እንዳሉ ሁሉ፥ ምንም እንኳ በሰማይና በምድር አማልክት የተባሉ ቢኖሩ ለእኛስ ነገር ሁሉ ከእርሱ የሆነBSBBSB: For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many so-called gods and lords),
6. 6ULBእኛም ለእርሱ የሆንን አንድ አምላክ አብ ብቻ አለን፤ እንዲሁም ነገር ሁሉም በእርሱ በኩል የሆነ እኛም በእርሱ በኩል የሆንን አንድ ጌታ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ብቻ አለን።BSBBSB: yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.
7. 7ULBይሁን እንጂ ይህ ዕውቀት በሁሉም አይገኝም። በዚህ ፈንታ፥ አንዳንዶች ግን እስካሁን ድረስ ጣዖትን ማምለክ ስለ ለመዱ፦ ለጣዖት እንደ ተሠዋ አድርገው ይበላሉ። ሕሊናቸው ደካማ ስለ ሆነ ይረክሳሉ።BSBBSB: But not everyone has this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that they eat such food as if it were sacrificed to an idol. And since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
8. 8ULBመብል ግን ወደ እግዚአብሔር አያደርሰንም። ስላልበላምንም አንረክስም፤ ወይም ስለበላንም የተሻለን አንሆንም።BSBBSB: But food does not bring us closer to God: We are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
9. 9ULBነገር ግን ይህ ነጻነታችሁ በእምነት ደካማ ለሆኑት ምክንያት ሆኖ መሰናከያ እንዳይሆን ተጠንቃቁ።BSBBSB: Be careful, however, that your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
10. 10ULBአንተ ዕውቀት ያለህ በጣዖት ቤት በማዕድ ተቀምጠህ ስትበላ አንድ ሰው ቢያይህ፤ በእምነቱ ያልጠነከረ ሰው ለጣዖት የተሠዋውን ለመብላት አይደፋፈርምን?BSBBSB: For if someone with a weak conscience sees you who are well informed eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?
11. 11ULBስለ ጣዖት ባሕርይ በአንተ ዕውቀት የተነሣ ክርስቶስ የሞተላቸው ደካማ ወንድም ወይም እህት ይጠፋሉ።BSBBSB: So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.
12. 12ULBስለዚህም ወንድሞችንና እህቶችን ስትበድሉና ደካማ ሕሊናቸውንም ስታቆሽሹ ክርስቶስን ትበድላላችሁ።BSBBSB: By sinning against your brothers in this way and wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13. 13ULBስለዚህም መብል ወንድሜንና እህቴን የሚያሰናክል ከሆን ወንድሜንና እህት እንዳላሰናክል ለዘላለ ከቶ ሥጋን አልበለም።BSBBSB: Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to stumble.
