1 ULB የሶርያ ንጉሥ ቤን ሀዳድ መላ ሠራዊቱን በአንድነት ሰበሰበ፡፡ ብዙ ፈረሶችና ሠረገሎች ያሉአቸው ሠላሳ ሁለት ነገሥታት ከእርሱ ጋር ነበሩ፡፡ የእስራኤል ዋና ከተማ የሆነችውን ሰማርያ ጦርነት ገጠመ፡፡ BSB BSB: Now Ben-hadad king of Aram assembled his entire army. Accompanied by thirty-two kings with their horses and chariots, he marched up, besieged Samaria, and waged war against it.
2 ULB እርሱም ሀዳድ በከተማይቱ ወደሚገኘው ወደ እስራኤል ነጉሥ ወደ አክዓብ፣ ቤን ሀዳድ እንዲህ ይላል ብሎ መልእክተኞችን ላከ፡- BSB BSB: Then he sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel,
3 ULB ብርህና ወርቅህ ውብ የሆኑት ሚስቶችህና ልጆችህ ምርጥ የሆኑ ሁሉ የእኔ ናቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: saying, “This is what Ben-hadad says: ‘Your silver and gold are mine, and your best wives and children are mine!’”
4 ULB የእስራል ንጉሥም ጌታዬ ንጉሥ አንተ እንዳልከው ይሁን ብሎ መለሰ፡፡ እኔ የእኔ የሆነ ሁሉ የአንተ ናቸው አለ፡፡ BSB BSB: And the king of Israel replied, “Just as you say, my lord the king: I am yours, along with all that I have.”
5 ULB ከጥቂት ጊዜም በኋላ እነዚያው መልእክተኞች ከንጉሥ ቤን ሀዳድ ሌላ ትእዘዝ ይዘው እንደገና ወደ አክዓብ መጡ፤ ትዕዛዙ እንዲህ የሚል ነበር፤ ብርህን፣ ሚስቶችህንና ልጆችህን ማስረክብ እንዳለብህ መልእክት ልኬብህ ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: The messengers came back and said, “This is what Ben-hadad says: ‘I have sent to you to demand your silver, your gold, your wives, and your children.
6 ULB አሁን ደግሞ ቤትህንና የአገልጋዮችህን ቤት ሁሉ ይበረብራሉ፡፡ በርብረውም በዓይናቸው ደስ ያላቸውን ንብረት ሁሉ ይዘው እንዲመጡ የጦር መኮንኖቼን ነገ በዚህ ጊዜ እልካለሁ፡፡ እነርሱም ነገ ጧት በዚሁ ሰዓት እዚያ ይደርሳሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: But about this time tomorrow I will send my servants to search your palace and the houses of your servants. They will seize and carry away all that is precious to you.’”
7 ULB የእስራኤልም ንጉሥ አክዓብ የአገሪቱን ሽማግሌዎች ሁሉ ጠርቶ ይህ ሰው ምን ዓይነት ጠብ እንደሚፈልግ ተመልከቱ አለ፡፡ ከዚህ በፊት ሚስቶቼንና ልጆቼን፣ ብሬንና ወረቄን እንዳስረክበው ጠይቆኝ ተስማምቼ ነበር አላቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said, “Please take note and see that this man is looking for trouble, for when he demanded my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, I did not deny him.”
8 ULB ሽማግሌዎቹና ሕዝቡም ሁሉ እርሱ ለሚልህ ነገር ሁሉ ግምት አትስጠው፤ ከፍላጎቱ ጋር አትስማማው አሉት፡፡ BSB BSB: And the elders and the people all said, “Do not listen to him or consent to his terms.”
9 ULB ስለዚህም አክዓብ ለቤን ሀዳድ መልእክተኞች ለጌታዬ ለንጉሡ ከዚህ በፊት ባቀረብክልኝ ጥያቄ ተስማምቼ ነበር፤ አሁን ባቀረብክልኝ በሁለተኛው ጥያቄ ግን ልስማማበት አልችልም ብሎአል ብላችሁ ንገሩት አላቸው፡፡ መልእክተኞቹም ተመልሰው በመሄድ መልሱን ነገሩት፤ BSB BSB: So Ahab answered the messengers of Ben-hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you demanded of your servant the first time I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” So the messengers departed and relayed the message to Ben-hadad.
10 ULB ቤን ሀዳድም በሰማርያ ለእያንዳንዱ ወታደር አንዳንድ ጭብጥ ዐፈር ሊዳረስ እስከማይችል ድረስ ብዙ ወታደሮችን ባላሰልፍ አማልክት ይቅሠፉኝ ብሎ የዛቻ መልእክቱን መልሶ ላከበት፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Ben-hadad sent another message to Ahab: “May the gods deal with me, and ever so severely, if enough dust remains of Samaria for each of my men to have a handful.”
11 ULB የእስራኤል ንጉሥ መልእክተኞቹን፣ በወታደር መኩራራት የሚገባው ከጦርነት ድል በኋላ እንጂ ከጦርነት በፊት አይደለም፣ ብላችሁ ለንጉሥ ቤን ሀዳድ ንገሩት ሲል መለሰላቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: And the king of Israel replied, “Tell him: ‘The one putting on his armor should not boast like one taking it off.’”
12 ULB ቤን ሀዳድና የእርሱ የጦር ቃል ኪዳን ጓደኞቹ የሆኑ ሌሎችም ነገሥታት በድንኳኖቻቸው ውስጥ ሆነው ሲጠጡ ሳሉ የአክዓበ መልእክት ደረሳቸው፤ በዚህን ጊዜ ቤን ሀዳድ ለጦርነት እንዲዘጋጁ ትእዛዝ ሰጠ፡፡ ስለዚህም ፈጥነው በመንቀሳቀስ ከተማውን ለማጥቃት ቦታ ቦታቸውን ያዙ፡፡ BSB BSB: Ben-hadad received this message while he and the kings were drinking in their tents, and he said to his servants, “Take your positions.” So they stationed themselves against the city.
13 ULB በዚያን ጊዜ አንድ ነቢይ ወደ እስራኤል ንጉሥ አክዓብ ቀርቦ፣ እግዚአብሔር እንዲህ ይላል፡- ይህንን ታላቅ ጦር አየህን? እነሆ እግዚአብሔር ዛሬ የቤን ሀዳድን ሠራዊት በእጅህ አሳልፌ እሰጥሃለሁ፡፡ አንተም ደግሞ እኔ እግዚአብሔር መሆኔን ታውቃለህ ይልሃል አለው፡፡ BSB BSB: Meanwhile a prophet approached Ahab king of Israel and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Do you see this entire great army? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this very day, and you will know that I am the LORD.’”
15 ULB ስለዚህ ንጉሡ ብዛታቸው ሁለት መቶ ሠላሳ ሁለት ብቻ የሆነ በአውራጃ አስተዳዳሪዎች ትእዛዝ ሥር የሆኑትን ወጣት ወታደሮችን ጠራ፡፡ ቀጥሎም ጠቅላላ ብዛቱ ሰባት ሺህ የሆነ የእስራኤልን ሠራዊት ጠራ፡፡ BSB BSB: So Ahab assembled the young officers of the district governors, and there were 232 men. And after them, he assembled the rest of the Israelite troops, 7,000 in all.
16 ULB እነርሱም እኩለ ቀን ላይ ሄዱ፡፡ ቤን ሀዳድና የእርሱ የጦር ቃል ኪዳን ጓደኞች የሆኑ ሠላሳ ሁለቱ ነገሥታት በድንኳኖቻቸው ውስጥ በመጠጥ ሰክረው ነበሩ፡፡ BSB BSB: They marched out at noon while Ben-hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting drunk.
17 ULB ወጣቶቹም ወታደሮች ግንባር ቀደም ሆነው ወደ ፊት አመሩ፡፡ ቤን ሀዳድ ልኮአቸው የነበሩትም ቃፊሮች አንድ የወታደር ቡድን ከሰማርያ ወጥቶ ወደዚህ እየመጣ መሆኑን ነገሩት፡፡ BSB BSB: And the young officers of the district governors marched out first. Now Ben-hadad had sent out scouts, who reported to him, “Men are marching out of Samaria.”
18 ULB ቤን ሀዳድም ቃፊሮቹን፣ አመጣጣቸው ለጦርነትም ይሁን ለሰላም ይዛቸሁ አምጡልኝ ሲል አዘዘ፡፡ BSB BSB: “If they have marched out in peace,” he said, “take them alive. Even if they have marched out for war, take them alive.”
19 ULB ስለዚህ በእስራኤል ሠራዊት ደጀንነት በአውራጃ አስተዳደሪዎች የሚታዘዙ ወጣቶቹ ወታደሮች ግንባር ቀደም ሆነው ወጡ፡፡ BSB BSB: Meanwhile, these young officers of the district governors marched out of the city, with the army behind them,
20 ULB እያንዳንዱም ውጊያ የገጠመውን ጠላቱን ገደለ፡፡ ሶርያውያንም ሸሹ፤ እስራኤላውያንም ያሳድዱአቸው ጀመር፡፡ ቤን ሀዳድ ግን በፈረሱ ላይ ተቀምጦ ከጥቂት ፈረሰኞች ጋር ሸሽቶ አመለጠ፡፡ BSB BSB: and each one struck down his opponent. So the Arameans fled, with the Israelites in pursuit. But Ben-hadad king of Aram escaped on horseback with the cavalry.
21 ULB ንጉሥ አክዓብም ወደ ጦሩ ሜዳ ገብቶ የጠላትን ፈረሶችና ሠረገሎችን ማረከ፡፡ በሶርያውያን ላይ ታላቅ ጥፋት በማድረስ ድል አደረጋቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the king of Israel marched out and attacked the horses and chariots, inflicting a great slaughter on the Arameans.
22 ULB ስለዚህ ነቢዩ ወደ ንጉሥ አክዓብ ቀርቦ፡- የሶርያ ንጉሥ በሚመጣው የጸደይ ወራት እንደገና አደጋ ስለሚጥልብህ ተመልሰህ ሂድና ሠራዊትህን በማጠናከር አደራጅ፤ ጥንቃቄ የሞላበትንም የጦርነት ስልት አዘጋጅ አለው፡፡ BSB BSB: Afterward, the prophet approached the king of Israel and said, “Go and strengthen your position, and take note what you must do, for in the spring the king of Aram will come up against you.”
23 ULB አገልጋዮቹም ንጉሥ ቤን ሀዳድን እንዲህ አሉት፡- የእስራኤል አማልክት የተራራ አማልክት ናቸው፡፡ እስራኤላውያን እኛን ማሸነፍ የቻሉት ስለዚህ ነው፡፡ በሜዳማ ስፍራዎች ጦርነት ብንገጥማቸው ግን እናሸንፋለን፡፡ BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the servants of the king of Aram said to him, “Their gods are gods of the hills. That is why they prevailed over us. Instead, we should fight them on the plains; surely then we will prevail.
24 ULB ስለዚህ አሁን ሠላሳ ሁለቱን ነገሥታት ከጦር አዛዥነታቸው ሽረህ በእነርሱ ቦታ ሌሎችን የጦር አዛዦች ሹም፡፡ BSB BSB: So do this: Dismiss all the kings from their positions and replace them with other officers.
25 ULB ከዚህ በፊት የተደመሰሰውን የሚያህል ብዙ ሠራዊትና በቀድሞዎቹ ልክ ፈረሶችንና ሠረገሎችን አደራጅ፤ ከዚያ በኋላ እስራኤላውያንን በሜዳ ተዋግተን ድል እንነሣቸዋለን፡፡ ስለዚህ ቤን ሀዳድም በእነርሱ ምክር ተስማምቶ ለመፈጸም ወሰነ፡፡ BSB BSB: And you must raise an army like the one you have lost—horse for horse and chariot for chariot—so we can fight the Israelites on the plain, where we will surely prevail.” And the king approved their plan and acted accordingly.
26 ULB ከዚያም በተከታዩ የጸደይ ወቅት ሠራዊቱን በአንድነት ጠርቶ እስራኤልን ለመዋጋት ወደ አፌቅ ከተማ ገሠገሠ፡፡ BSB BSB: In the spring, Ben-hadad mobilized the Arameans and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.
27 ULB እስራኤላውያን ተጠርተው ከሚያስፈልጋቸው ስንቅና ትጥቅ ጋር ለጦርነት ተዘጋጁ፤ እነርሱም ወደ ጦርነቱ በመዝመት በሁለት ቡድን ተከፍለው ከሶርያውያን ፊት ለፊት ባለው ቦታ ሰፈሩ፡፡ የእስራኤል ወታደሮች ቁጥር አገሩን ካጥለቀለቀው ከሶርያውያን ሠራዊት ብዛት ጋር ሲነጻጻር ከሁለት የተከፈለሉ የጥቂት ፍየሎች መንጋዎች ይመስሉ ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: The Israelites also mobilized, gathered supplies, and marched out to meet them. The Israelites camped before them like two small flocks of goats, while the Arameans covered the countryside.
28 ULB አንድ የእግዚአብሔር ነቢይ ወደ ንጉሥ አክዓብ ቀርቦ እግዚአብሔር የተናገረው ቃል ይህ ነው፤ ሶርያውያን፡- እግዚአብሔር የኮረብቶች አምላክ እንጂ የሜዳዎች አምላክ አይደለም ብለዋል፤ ከዚህም የተነሣ እኔ እጅግ ብዙ የሆነውን ሠaርዊታቸውን በእጅህ አሳልፌ እሰጣለሁ፡፡ አንተና ሕዝብህም እኔ እግዚአብሔር መሆኔን ታውቃላችሁ አለው፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the man of God approached the king of Israel and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Because the Arameans have said that the LORD is a god of the hills and not of the valleys, I will deliver all this great army into your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
29 ULB ስለዚህ ሶርያውያንና እስራኤላውያን ፊት ለፊት ተፋጠው በየጦር ሰፈራቸው እስከ ሰባት ቀን ቆዩ፤ በሰባተኛውም ቀን ጦርነት ጀምረው በዚያኑ ቀን እስራኤላውያን አንድ መቶ ሺህ የሶርያውያንን እግረኛ ጦር ወታደሮችን ገደሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: For seven days the armies camped opposite each other, and on the seventh day the battle ensued, and the Israelites struck down the Arameans—a hundred thousand foot soldiers in one day.
30 ULB ከሞት የተረፉትም ሶርያውያን ሸሽተው ወደ አፌቅ ከተማ ገቡ፤ በዚያም ቁጥራቸው ሃያ ሰባት ሺህ በሚሆኑት ወታደሮች ላይ የከተማው ቅጥር ተንዶባቸው አለቁ፡፡ ቤን ሀዳድም አምልጦ ወደ ከተማይቱ ገብቶ ከአንድ ቤት በስተ ኋላ በኩል ባለው ክፍል ውስጥ ተደበቀ፡፡ BSB BSB: The rest of them fled into the city of Aphek, where the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand of the remaining men. Ben-hadad also fled to the city and hid in an inner room.
31 ULB የቤን ሀዳድ አገልጋዮች ወደ እርሱ ቀርበው፣ የእስራኤል ነገሥታት ምሕረት አድራጊዎች መሆናቸውን ሰምተናል፤ ስለዚህ በወገባችን ማቅ ታጥቀን፣ በራሳችንም ገመድ ጠምጥመን ወደ እስራኤል ንጉሥ ሄደን ምሕረት እንድንጠይቀው ፍቀድልን፤ ምናልባትም ሕይወትህን ያተርፍ ይሆናል አሉት፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the servants of Ben-hadad said to him, “Look now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful. Let us go out to the king of Israel with sackcloth around our waists and ropes around our heads. Perhaps he will spare your life.”
32 ULB ከዚህም በኋላ እነርሱ በወገባቸው ማቅ ታጥቀው በራሳቸውም ገመድ ጠምጥመው ወደ ንጉሥ አክዓብ በመሄድ አገልጋይህ ቤን ሀዳድ ምሕረት አድርገህ ሕይወቱን እንድታተርፍለት ይማጠንሃል አሉት፡፡ አክዓብም እርሱ እስከ አሁን በሕይወት አለ ማለት ነውን? ከሆነስ መልካም ነው፤ እንግዲህ እርሱ ለእኔ እንደ ወንድም ነው ሲል መለሰላቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: So with sackcloth around their waists and ropes around their heads, they went to the king of Israel and said, “Your servant Ben-hadad says, ‘Please spare my life.’” And the king answered, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”
33 ULB የቤን ሀዳድ አገልጋዮችም የምሕረት መልእክት ይጠባበቄ ስለ ነበር አክዓብ ወንድሜ ሲል በሰሙ ጊዜ ወዲያውኑ ቀበል አድገርው አንተ እንዳልከው ቤን ሀዳድ በእርግጥ ወንድምህ ነው አሉት፡፡ አክዓብም ወደ እኔ አምጡት! አላቸው፡፡ ቤን ሀዳድም በመጣ ጊዜ አክዓብ ወደ ሠረገላው ገብቶ እንዲቀመጥ ቤን ሀዳድን ጋበዘው፡፡ BSB BSB: Now the men were looking for a sign of hope, and they quickly grasped at this word and replied, “Yes, your brother Ben-hadad.” “Go and get him!” said the king. Then Ben-hadad came out, and Ahab had him come up into his chariot.
34 ULB ቤን ሀዳድም አክዓብን አባቴ ከአባትህ የወሰዳቸውን ከተሞች እመልስልሃለሁ፤ አባቴ በሰማርያ እንዳደረገው ሁሉ አንተም በደማስቆ ለራስህ የንግድ ማእከል ልታቋቁም ትችላለህ አለው፡፡ አክዓብም እንግዲያውስ በዚህ ስምምነት መሠረት እኔም በነጻ እለቅሃለሁ ሲል መለሰለት፡፡ አክዓብም በዚህ ዓይነት ከእርሱ ጋር የውል ስምምነት አድርጎ በነጻ እንዲሄድ ፈቀደለት፡፡ BSB BSB: Ben-hadad said to him, “I will restore the cities my father took from your father; you may set up your own marketplaces in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria.” “By this treaty I release you,” Ahab replied. So he made a treaty with him and sent him away.
35 ULB የነቢያት ወገን የሆነ አንድ ነቢይ በእግዚአብሔር ታዞ የእርሱ ጓደኛ የሆነውን ሌላ ነቢይ ምታኝ አለው፡፡ ነቢዩ ግን እርሱን ለመምታት እምቢ አለ፡፡ BSB BSB: Meanwhile, by the word of the LORD, one of the sons of the prophets said to his companion, “Strike me, please!” But the man refused to strike him.
36 ULB ስለዚህም ያ ነቢይ የእግዚአብሔርን ትእዛዝ መፈጸም እምቢ ስላልክ ከእኔ ተለይተህ እንደ ሄድክ ወዲያውኑ አንበሳ ይገድልሃል አለው፤ ከእርሱ ተለይቶ እንደ ሄደ አንበሳ በድንገት ወደ እርሱ መጥቶ ገደለው፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the prophet said to him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, as soon as you depart from me a lion will kill you.” And when he left, a lion found him and killed him.
37 ULB ከዚህም በኋላ ነቢዩ ወደ ሌላ ሰው ሄዶ ምታኝ አለው፣ ያም ሰው መትቶ አቆሰለው፤ BSB BSB: Then the prophet found another man and said, “Strike me, please!” So the man struck him and wounded him,
38 ULB ነቢዩ ማንነቱ እንዳይታወቅ ፊቱን በጨርቅ ሸፈነ፤ ሄዶም በዚያ በኩል የሚያልፈውን የእስራኤል ንጉሥ ለመጠበቅ በመንገድ ዳር ቆመ፡፡ BSB BSB: and the prophet went and waited on the road for the king, disguising himself with a bandage over his eyes.
39 ULB ንጉሡም በአጠገቡ ሲያልፍ ነቢዩ ተጣርቶ እንዲህ ሲል ጮኸ፡- ንጉሥ ሆይ እኔ በጦርነት ውስጥ በውጊያ ላይ ነበርኩ፤ በዚያን ጊዜም ከወታደሮቹ አንዱ ከጠላት ወገን አንድን ሰው ማርኮ በማምጣት ይህን ሰው ጠብቅ፣ ቢያመልጥ ግን በእርሱ ፈንታ አንተ ትገደላለህ ወይም ሠላሳ አንድ መክሊት የሚመዝን ብር መቀጫ ትከፍላለህ አለኝ፡፡ BSB BSB: As the king passed by, he cried out to the king: “Your servant had marched out into the middle of the battle, when suddenly a man came over with a captive and told me, ‘Guard this man! If he goes missing for any reason, your life will be exchanged for his life, or you will weigh out a talent of silver.’
40 ULB ነገር ግን እኔ ሥራ በዝቶብኝ ወዲያ ወዲህ ስል ሰውየው አምልጦ ሄደ፡፡ ንጉሡም በራስህ ላይ ስለ ፈረድህ መቀጣት ይገባሃል አለው፡፡ BSB BSB: But while your servant was busy here and there, the man disappeared.” And the king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be; you have pronounced it on yourself.”
41 ULB ነቢዩ ፊቱ የተሸፈነበትን ጨርቅ ፈጥኖ አወለቀ፤ ንጉሡም ይህ ሰው ከነቢያት ወገን አንዱ መሆኑን ወዲያውኑ አወቀ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the prophet quickly removed the bandage from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.
42 ULB ነቢዩም ንጉሡን እንዲህ አለው፡- እግዚአብሔር የተናገረው ቃል ይህ ነው፤ እኔ ይገደል ብዬ የፈረድኩበት ሰው እንዲያመልጥ ስለ ፈቀድህ በእርሱ ፈንታ አንተ በሞት ትቀጣለህ፤ የዚያ ሰው ሠራዊት አምልጦ እንዲሄድ ስላደረገ ሠራዊትህም ይደመሰሳል፡፡ BSB BSB: And the prophet said to the king, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Because you have let slip from your hand the man I had devoted to destruction, your life will be exchanged for his life, and your people for his people.’”
43 ULB ስለዚህ ንጉሡ እያዘነና እየተበሳጨ ወደ ቤቱ ወደ ሰማርያ ተመልሶ ሄደ፡፡ BSB BSB: Sullen and angry, the king of Israel went home to Samaria.
