1 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ አኪጦፌል ለአቤሴሎም፣ “አሥራ ሁለት ሺህ ሰው መርጬ በዛሬይቱ ሌሊት አባትህን አሳድደዋለሁ፤ BSB BSB: Furthermore, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David.
2 ULB በደከመውና ዐቅም ባነሰው ጊዜ ድንገት ደርሼ በማስፈራት አስደንቀዋለሁ፤ አብሮት ያለው ሕዝብም ይሸሻል፣ በንጉሡ ላይ ብቻ ጥቃት አደርስበታለሁ፡፡ BSB BSB: I will attack him while he is weak and weary; I will throw him into a panic, and all the people with him will flee; I will strike down only the king
3 ULB ሙሽራ ወደ ባሏ እንደምትመጣ ሕዝቡን ሁሉ ወደ አንተ እመልሳለሁ፤ ሕዝቡም ሁሉ በአንተ ሥር በሰላም ይሆናል፡፡” BSB BSB: and bring all the people back to you as a bride returning to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be at peace.”
4 ULB አኪጦፌል የተናገረውም አቤሴሎምንና የእስራኤልን ሽማግሌዎች ሁሉ ደስ አሰኛቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: This proposal seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel.
5 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ አቤሴሎም፣ “አርካዊውን ኩሲን አሁን ጥሩትና እስቲ፣ እርሱ ደግሞ የሚለውን እንስማ” አለ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Absalom said, “Summon Hushai the Archite as well, and let us hear what he too has to say.”
6 ULB ኩሲ ወደ አቤሴሎም በመጣ ጊዜ፣ አኪጦፌል ያለውን ከገለጸለት በኋላ፣ ኩሲን፣ “አኪጦፌል ያለውን እናድርግ? ካልሆነም የምትመክረንን አንተ ንገረን፡፡” BSB BSB: So Hushai came to Absalom, who told him, “Ahithophel has spoken this proposal. Should we carry it out? If not, what do you say?”
7 ULB ስለዚህ ኩሱ ለአቤሴሎም፣ “አኪጠፌል በዚህን ጊዜ የሰጠው ምክር መልካም አይደለም፡፡” ካለ በኋላ፣ BSB BSB: Hushai replied, “This time the advice of Ahithophel is not sound.”
8 ULB ኩሲ በመቀጠል፣ “አባትህና ሰዎቹ ብርቱ ተዋጊዎችና ግልገሎቿ በሜዳ እንደተነጠቁባት ድብ መራሮች እንደሆኑ አንተ ታውቃለህ፡፡ አባትህ የጦር ሰው ነው፣ በዛሬው ሌሊት ከሠራዊቱ ጋር አይተኛም፡፡ BSB BSB: He continued, “You know your father and his men. They are mighty men, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Moreover, your father is a man of war who will not spend the night with the troops.
9 ULB እነሆ፣ አሁን እንኳ በአንዱ ዋሻ ወይም በሌላ ቦታ ተደብቆ ይሆናል፡፡ በውጊያው መጀመሪያ ላይ ከአንተ ሰዎች ጥቂቶቹ ቢሞቱ፣ ያንን የሰማ ማንኛውም ሰው፣ ‘አቤሴሎምን ይከተሉ በነበሩት ላይ እልቂት ተፈጽሟል’ ይላል፡፡ BSB BSB: Surely by now he is hiding in a cave or some other location. If some of your troops fall first, whoever hears of it will say, ‘There has been a slaughter among the troops who follow Absalom.’
10 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ አባትህ ኃያል ሰው ስለሆነና ከእርሱም ጋር ያሉት በጣም ብርቱዎች መሆናቸውን መላው እስራኤል ስለሚያውቅ ልባቸው እንደ አንበሳ ልብ የሆነው እጅግ ጀግና የሆኑት እንኳን ይፈራሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then even the most valiant soldier with the heart of a lion will melt with fear, because all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man who has valiant men with him.
11 ULB ስለዚህ እኔ የምመክርህ በባሕር ዳር እንዳለ አሸዋ ብዙ የሆነው ከዳን እስከ ቤርሳቤህ ያለው መላው የእስራኤል ሕዝብ ወደ አንተ ይሰብሰብ፣ አንተም በግልህ ወደ ጦርነቱ ግባ፡፡ BSB BSB: Instead, I advise that all Israel from Dan to Beersheba—a multitude like the sand on the seashore—be gathered to you, and that you yourself lead them into battle.
12 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ እርሱ በየትኛውም ቦታ ቢሆን እንመጣበታለን፣ ጤዛም ምድርን እንደሚሸፍን በላዩ ላይ እንወድቅበታለን፡፡ ከእርሱ ማንኛውንም ሰው ወይም እርሱን ራሱንም እንኳን ቢሆን በሕይወት አንተውም፡፡ BSB BSB: Then we will attack David wherever we find him, and we will descend on him like dew on the ground. And of all the men with him, not even one will remain.
13 ULB ወደ አንዲት ከተማ የሚያፈገፍግ እንኳ ቢሆን፣ እስራኤል ሁሉ ገመድ አምጥቶ አንድ እንኳ እስከማይቀር ድረስ ከተማይቱን ወደ ወንዝ ውስጥ ስበን እንከታታለን፡፡” BSB BSB: If he retreats to a city, all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we will drag it down to the valley until not even a pebble can be found there.”
14 ULB ከዚያም አቤሴሎምና የእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች ሁሉ፣ “የአርካዊው ኩሲ ምክር ከአኪጦፌል ምክር ይልቅ የተሻለች ነች” አሉ፡፡ በአቤሴሎም ላይ ጥፋት ይመጣ ዘንድ እግዚአብሔር የአኪጦፌል መልካም ምክር ተቀባይነት እንዳያገኝ አደረገ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the LORD had purposed to thwart the good counsel of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.
15 ULB ከዚያም ኩሲ ለካህናቱ ለሳዶቅና ለአብያታር፣ “አኪጦፌል አቤሴሎምንና የእስራኤልን ሽማግሌዎች ምን ምን ማድረግ እንዳለባቸው መክሮአቸው ነበር፣ እኔ ግን የተለየ ምክር ሰጠኋቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: So Hushai told Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, “This is what Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the elders of Israel, and this is what I have advised.
16 ULB እንግዲህ እናንተ ፈጥናችሁ ወደ ዳዊት ዘንድ ሂዱና፣ ‘በአረባ ባለው የወንዙ መሻገሪያ እንዳታድር፣ ነገር ግን እንደ ምንም ብለህ ተሻገር፤ አለበለዚያ ንጉሡና አብሮት ያለው ሕዝብ በሙሉ ትዋጣላችሁ’ በሉት፡፡” BSB BSB: Now send quickly and tell David, ‘Do not spend the night at the fords of the wilderness, but be sure to cross over. Otherwise the king and all the people with him will be swallowed up.’”
17 ULB በዚህ ጊዜ፣ ዮናታንና አኪማአስ በዓይንሮጌል ባለችው ምንጭ ይጠብቁ ነበር፣ ወደ ከተማ ሲገቡ እንዳይታዩ አንዲት ሴት አገልጋይ ወደ እነርሱ እየሄደች መልእከቶችን ታቀብላቸው ነበር፤ እነርሱም በዚያን ጊዜ ለዳዊት ሄደው ይነግሩት ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying at En-rogel, where a servant girl would come and pass along information to them. They in turn would go and inform King David, for they dared not be seen entering the city.
18 ULB በዚህን ጊዜ ግን አንድ ወጣት አያቸውና ለአቤሴሎም ሄዶ ነገረ፡፡ ስለዚህ ዮናታንና አኪማአስ ፈጥነው በግቢው ውስጥ የውሃ ጉድጓድ ወደነበረው በብራቂም ወደ ነበረ ሰው ቤት መጡ፡፡ BSB BSB: But a young man did see them and told Absalom. So the two left quickly and came to the house of a man in Bahurim. He had a well in his courtyard, and they climbed down into it.
19 ULB የሰውዬው ሚስት የውሃ ጉድጓዱን መሸፈኛ ወስዳ በጉድጓዱ አፍ ላይ ዘረጋችው ከዚያ በኋላም ዮናታንና አኪማአስ በውሃ ጉድጓድ ዘንድ እንዳሉ ማንም እንዳያውቅ በላዩ ላይ እህል አሰጣችበት፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the man’s wife took a covering, spread it over the mouth of the well, and scattered grain over it so nobody would know a thing.
20 ULB የአቤሴሎም ሰዎች በቤት ወደነበረችው ሴትዮ መጡና፣ “አኪማአስና ዮናታን ወዴት አሉ?” አሏት፤ እርሷም፣ “ወንዙን ተሻግረው ሄደዋል” አለቻቸው፡፡ ስለዚህ ፈልገው ሊያገኟቸው ስላልቻሉ ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ተመለሱ፡፡ BSB BSB: When Absalom’s servants came to the woman at the house, they asked, “Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” “They have crossed over the brook,” she replied. The men searched but did not find them, so they returned to Jerusalem.
21 ULB እነርሱ ከሄዱ በኋላ አኪማአስና ዮናታን ከጉድጓዱ ወጡ፤ ወደ ዳዊትም ዘንድ ሄደው፣ “ተነሣና ፈጥነህ ወንዙን ተሻገር፣ ምክንያቱም አኪጦፌል አንተን በሚመለከት እንደዚህና እንደዚያ ብሎ ምክር ሰጥቶአል፡፡” BSB BSB: After the men had gone, Ahimaaz and Jonathan climbed up out of the well and went to inform King David, saying, “Get up and cross over the river at once, for Ahithophel has given this advice against you.”
22 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ ዳዊትና ከእርሱ ጋር የነበረው ሕዝብ ተነሡ፣ የዮርዳኖስንም ወንዝ ተሻግረው ሄዱ፤ ሲነጋም ዮርዳኖስን መሻገር አቅቶት የቀረ አንድም ሰው አልነበረም፡፡ BSB BSB: So David and all the people with him got up and crossed the Jordan. By daybreak, there was no one left who had not crossed the Jordan.
23 ULB አኪጦፌልም ምክሩን እንዳልተቀበሉት ባየ ጊዜ አህያውን ጭኖ ቤቱ ወዳለበት ወደ መኖሪያ ከተማው ሄደ፣ ጉዳዩንም መልክ ካስያዘ በኋላ በገዛ እጁ ታንቆ ሞተ፡፡ በዚህ አኳኋን ሞተና በአባቱ መቃብር ተቀበረ፡፡ BSB BSB: When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his affairs in order and hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.
24 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ ዳዊት ወደ መሃናይም መጣ፤ አቤሴሎምም ከእርሱ ጋር ከነበሩት ከመላው የእስራኤል ሰዎች ጋር ዮርዳኖስን ተሻገረ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then David went to Mahanaim, and Absalom crossed the Jordan with all the men of Israel.
25 ULB ከዚህ በኋላም አቤሴሎም በኢዮአብ ምትክ አሜሳይን በሠራዊቱ ላይ ሾመ፤ አሜሳይ የእስራኤላዊው የዮቴር ልጅ ነበር፡፡ ዮቴር ከኢዮአብ እናት ከጽሩያ እህት ከናዖስ ልጅ ከአቢግያ ጋር ተኝቶ የነበረ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: Absalom had appointed Amasa over the army in place of Joab. Amasa was the son of a man named Ithra, the Ishmaelite who had married Abigail, the daughter of Nahash and sister of Zeruiah the mother of Joab.
26 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ እስራኤላውያንና አቤሴሎም ከበገለዓድ ምድር ሰፈሩ፡፡ BSB BSB: So the Israelites and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
27 ULB ዳዊት ወደ መሃናይም በመጣ ጊዜ ከአሞናውያን ከተማ ከራባ የመጣው፣ የናዖስ ልጅ ሾቢ፣ ከሎዶባር የመጣው የዓሚኤል ልጅ ማኪርና ከሮግሊም የመጣው ገለዓዳዊው ቤርዜሊ፣ BSB BSB: When David came to Mahanaim, he was met by Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, Machir son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim.
28 ULB መተኛ ምንጣፎችና ብርድ ልብሶች፣ ጎድጓዳ ሳህኖችና ድስቶች እንዲሁም ዳዊትና ከእርሱ ጋር የነበሩት ሰዎች ይበሉ ዘንድ ስንዴ፣ የገብስ ዱቄት፣ የተጠበሰ እሸት፣ ባቄላ፣ ምስር፣ BSB BSB: They brought beds, basins, and earthen vessels, as well as wheat, barley, flour, roasted grain, beans, lentils,
29 ULB ማር፣ ቅቤ፣ በግና እርጎ አመጡ፡፡ እነዚህ ሰዎች፣ “ሕዝቡ በምድረ-በዳ ተርቦአል፣ ደክሞአል ደግሞም ተጠምቶአል” ብለው ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: honey, curds, sheep, and cheese from the herd for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry, exhausted, and thirsty in the wilderness.”
