1. 1ULBየእስራኤል ነገዶች በሙሉ ወደ ኬብሮን ወደ ዳዊት መጥተው እንዲህ አሉ፣ “እነሆ እኛ የዐጥንትህ ፍላጭ የሥጋህ ቁራጭ ነን፤BSBBSB: Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own flesh and blood.
2. 2ULBሳኦል በእኛ ላይ ነግሦ በነበረበት ባለፈው ጊዜ የእስራኤልን ሠራዊት የምትመራ አንተ ነበርህ፤ እግዚአብሔርም፣ ‘ሕዝቤን እስራኤልን ትጠብቃለህ፣ በእስራኤልም ላይ ገዥ ትሆናለህ’ ብሎህ ነበር፡፡”BSBBSB: Even in times past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And to you the LORD said, ‘You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”
3. 3ULBስለዚህም የእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች በሙሉ ወደ ንጉሡ ወደ ኬብሮን መጡ፤ ንጉሥ ዳዊትም ኬብሮን ላይ በእግዚአብሔር ፊት ከእነርሱ ጋር ቃል ኪዳን አደረገ፤ እነርሱም ዳዊትን ቀብተው በእስራኤል ላይ አነገሡት፡፡BSBBSB: So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, where King David made with them a covenant before the LORD. And they anointed him king over Israel.
4. 4ULBዳዊት በነገሠ ጊዜ ዕድሜው ሠላሳ ዓመት ነበረr፤ አርባ ዓመትም ገዛ፡፡BSBBSB: David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.
5. 5ULBበኬብሮን በይሁዳ ላይ ለሰባት ዓመት ከስድስት ወር፣ ኢየሩሳሌም ሆኖም በመላው እስራኤልና በይሁዳ ላይ ሠላሳ ሦስት ዓመት ነገሠ፡፡BSBBSB: In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6. 6ULBንጉሡና ሰዎቹ የምድሪቱ ነዋሪዎች በሆኑት በኢያቡሳውያን ላይ ለመዝመት ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ሄዱ፡፡ እነርሱም ለዳዊት፣ “በዕውሮችና በአንካሶች ልትመለስ ካልሆነ በስተቀር አንተ ወደዚህ አትገባም፤ ዳዊት እዚህ መምጣት አይችልም” አሉት፡፡BSBBSB: Now the king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the land. The Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and lame can repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
7. 7ULBይሁን እንጂ ዳዊት የጽዮንን አምባ ያዘ፤ ይህችም አሁን የዳዊት ከተማ የሆነችው ነች፡፡BSBBSB: Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the City of David).
8. 8ULBበዚያን ጊዜ ዳዊት እንደዚህ አለ፣ “ኢያቡሳውያንን የሚያጠቃ በውሃ መተላለፊያው ሽቅብ መውጣት አለበት፤ በዚያም ዳዊትን የሚጠሉትን ዕውሮችንና አንካሶችን ያገኛል፡፡” እንግዲህ ሰዎች፣ “አንካሶችና ዕውሮች ወደ ቤተ መንግሥት መግባት አይችሉም” ያሉት ከዚህ የተነሣ ነው፡፡BSBBSB: On that day he said, “Whoever attacks the Jebusites must use the water shaft to reach the lame and blind who are despised by David.” That is why it is said, “The blind and the lame will never enter the palace.”
9. 9ULBበመሆኑም ዳዊት በአምባይቱ ኖረ፤ የዳዊት ከተማም ብሎ ጠራት፡፡ ከሸንተረሩ አንሥቶ ወደ ውስጥ ዙሪያዋን ምሽግ ገነባባት፡፡BSBBSB: So David took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built it up all the way around, from the supporting terraces inward.
10. 10ULBየሠራዊት ጌታ እግዚአብሔር ከእርሱ ጋር ስለነበረ፣ ዳዊት እጅግ እየበረታ ሄደ፡፡BSBBSB: And David became greater and greater, for the LORD God of Hosts was with him.
11. 11ULBበዚህ ጊዜ የጢሮስ ንጉሥ ኪራም መልእክተኞችን፣ የዝግባ እንጨት፣ አናጢዎችንና ድንጋይ ጠራቢዎችን ወደ ዳዊት ላከ፤ እነርሱም ለዳዊት ቤት ሠሩለት፡፡BSBBSB: Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, carpenters, and stonemasons, and they built a palace for David.
12. 12ULBእግዚአብሔር በእስራኤል ላይ ንጉሥ አድርጎ እንዳጸናውና ስለ ሕዝቡም ስለ እስራኤል ሲል መንግሥቱን ከፍ እንዳደረገለት ዳዊት አወቀ፡፡BSBBSB: And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
13. 13ULBኬብሮንን ትቶ ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ከመጣ በኋላ ዳዊት በኢየሩሳሌም ተጨማሪ ቁባቶችን አስቀመጠ ሚስቶችንም አገባ፤ ተጨማሪ ወንዶችና ሴቶች ልጆችም በኢየሩሳሌም ተወለዱለት፡፡BSBBSB: After he had arrived from Hebron, David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, and more sons and daughters were born to him.
14. 14ULBበኢየሩሳሌም የተወለዱለትም ልጆች ስም፣ ሳሙስ፣ ሶባብ፣ ናታን፣ ሰሎሞን፣BSBBSB: These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
15. 15ULBኢያቤሔር፣ ኤሊሱዔ፣ ናፌቅ፣ ናፍያ፣BSBBSB: Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
16. 16ULBኤሊሳማ፣ ኤሊዳሄ፣ ኤሊፋላት ይባሉ ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17. 17ULBዳዊት በእስራኤል ላይ ንጉሥ ሆኖ መቀባቱን ፍልስጥኤማውያን በሰሙ ጊዜ፣ እርሱን ለመፈለግ በሙሉ ኃይላቸው ወጡ፤ ዳዊት ግን ይህን ሰምቶ ወደ ምሽጉ ወረደ፡፡BSBBSB: When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went down to the stronghold.
18. 18ULBበዚህ ጊዜ ፍልስጥኤማውያን መጥተው በራፋይም ሸለቆ ተበታትነው ሰፈሩ፡፡BSBBSB: Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
19. 19ULBዳዊትም ከእግዚአብሔር ዘንድ እንዲህ ሲል ዕርዳታ ጠየቀ፣ “ፍልስጥኤማውያንን ወጥቼ ልውጋቸውን? በእነርሱስ ላይ ድል ትሰጠኛለህ?” እግዚአብሔርም ለዳዊት፣ “በፍልስጥኤማውያን ላይ በእርግጥ ድል እሰጥሃለሁና ውጋቸው” አለው፡፡BSBBSB: So David inquired of the LORD, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go up,” replied the LORD, “for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
20. 20ULBስለዚህ ዳዊት በበአልፐራሲም ወጋቸው በዚያም ድል አደረጋቸው፡፡ እርሱም፣ “የጎርፍ ውሃ ጥሶ በመውጣት እንደሚያፈራርስ እግዚአብሔርም ጠላቶቼን በፊቴ አፈራረሳቸው” በማለት ስሜቱን ገለጸ፡፡ ከዚህ የተነሣም የዚያ ቦታ ስም በአልፐራሲም ተባለ፡፡BSBBSB: So David went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, the LORD has burst out against my enemies before me.” So he called that place Baal-perazim.
21. 21ULBፍልስጥኤማውያን ጣዖቶቻቸውን እዚያ ትተው ስለነበር ዳዊትንና ሰዎቹን ወሰዷቸው፡፡BSBBSB: There the Philistines abandoned their idols, and David and his men carried them away.
22. 22ULBፍልስጥኤማውያን እንደ ገና መጥተው በራፋይም ሸለቆ በድጋሚ ተበታትነው ሰፈሩ፡፡BSBBSB: Once again the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
23. 23ULBስለዚህ ዳዊት እንደገና ከእግዚአብሔር ዕርዳታ ጠየቀ፤ እግዚአብሔርም፣ “በፊት ለፊት በኩል አትውጋቸው፤ ይልቁኑ በስተኋላቸው በኩል በመክበብ በበለሳኑ ዛፎች ፊት ለፊት ግጠማቸው፡፡BSBBSB: So David inquired of the LORD, who answered, “Do not march straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.
24. 24ULBበበለሳኑ ዛፎች ጫፍ ላይ የሰልፍ ጉዞ ድምፅ ስትሰማ የፍልስጥኤማውያንን ሠራዊት ለመምታት እግዚአብሔር ቀድሞ ወጥቶአልና በዚያን ጊዜ በኃይል አጥቃ” አለው፡፡BSBBSB: As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
25. 25ULBስለዚህም ዳዊት እግዚአብሔር እንዳዘዘው ፍልስጥኤማውያንን ከገባዖን እስከ ጌዘር ድረስ ገደላቸው፡፡BSBBSB: So David did as the LORD had commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
