1 ULB የእስራኤል ማኅበር የእግዚአብሔርን ትእዛዝ በመከተል ከሲን ምድረ በዳ ተነሡ፤ በራፊዲምም ሰፈሩ፤ ነገር ግን ሕዝቡ የሚጠጡት ውሀ አልነበረም። BSB BSB: Then the whole congregation of Israel left the Desert of Sin, moving from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
2 ULB ሕዝቡ ሙሴን ወቀሡት፤ “የምንጠጣው ውሀ ስጠን” ብለውም ተናገሩት። ሙሴም፣ “ለምን እኔን ትጣሉኛላችሁ? እግዚአብሔርንስ ለምን ትፈታተኑታላችሁ?” አላቸው። BSB BSB: So the people contended with Moses, “Give us water to drink.” “Why do you contend with me?” Moses replied. “Why do you test the LORD?”
3 ULB ያ ሕዝቡ ውሀ በጣም ጠምቷቸው ስለ ነበር በሙሴ ላይ አጕረመረሙ። እንዲህም አሉት፤ “እኛንና ልጆቻችንን፣ ከብቶቻችንንም በውሀ ጥም ለመፍጀት ከግብፅ ለምን አወጣኸን?” BSB BSB: But the people thirsted for water there, and they grumbled against Moses: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt—to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”
4 ULB እነዚህን ሰዎች ምንድን ነው ማድረግ ያለብኝ? በድንጋይ ሊወግሩኝ ተዘጋጅተዋል” በማለት ወደ እግዚአብሔር ጮኸ። BSB BSB: Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do with these people? A little more and they will stone me!”
5 ULB እግዚአብሔር ሙሴን እንዲህ አለው፤ “ከእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች አንዳንዶችን፣ ወንዙን የመታህበትንም በትር ያዝና ከሕዝቡ ፊት ቀድመህ ሂድ። BSB BSB: And the LORD said to Moses, “Walk on ahead of the people and take some of the elders of Israel with you. Take along in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6 ULB ኮሬብ ባለው ዐለት ላይ እኔ ከፊትህ እቆማለሁ፤ ዐለቱንም ትመታዋለህ። ከእርሱም ሕዝቡ የሚጠቱት ውሀ ይወጣል።” ሙሴም በእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች ፊት የታዘዘውን አደረገ። BSB BSB: Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 ULB ስላጕረመረሙና “እግዚአብሔር በመካከላችን አለ ወይስ የለም?” በማለት እግዚአብሔርን ስለ ተፈታተኑት ያን ስፍራ ማሳህና መሪባ ብሎ ጠራው። BSB BSB: He named the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
8 ULB መጥተው እስራኤልን ራፊዲም ላይ ወጉ። BSB BSB: After this, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
9 ULB ስለዚህም ሙሴ ኢያሱን፣ “ጥቂት ሰዎችን ምረጥና ውጣ፤ ከአማሌቃውያን ጋርም ተዋጋ። ነገ እኔ የእግዚአብሔን በትር ይዤ በኮረብታው ዐናት ላይ እቆማለሁ” አለው። BSB BSB: So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on the hilltop with the staff of God in my hand.”
10 ULB ሙሴ ባዘዘው መሠረት አማሌቃውያን ተዋጋቸው፤ ሙሴ፣ አሮንና ሖርም ወደ ኮረብታው ዐናት ወጡ። BSB BSB: Joshua did as Moses had instructed him and fought against the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 ULB እጁን ወደ ላይ ሲያነሣ፣ እስራኤላውያን ድል ያደርጉ ነበር፤ እጁን ሲያወርድ ግን አማሌቃውያን ለማሸነፍ ይጀምሩ ነበር። BSB BSB: As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed.
12 ULB የሙሴ እጆች እየደከሙ ሲሄዱ፣ አሮንና ሖር ድንጋይ ወስደው እንዲቀመጥበት ከእርሱ ሥር አስቀመጡለት። በዚያውም ጊዜ አሮንና ሖር አንዳቸው በአንድ ጎኑ፣ የቀረውም በሌላው ጎኑ በኩል በመሆን የሙሴን እጆች ወደ ላይ ደግፈው ያዙ። የሙሴ እጆችም ፀሐይ እስክትገባ ድረስ ጠንክረው ቆዩ። BSB BSB: When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
13 ULB ስለዚህም ኢያሱ አማሌቃውያንን በሰይፍ ድል አደረጋቸው። BSB BSB: So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his army with the sword.
15 ULB ሙሴም መሠዊያ ሠርቶ፣ “እግዚአብሔር አርማዬ ነው” ብሎ ሰየመው። BSB BSB: And Moses built an altar and named it The LORD Is My Banner.
16 ULB “እጅ ወደ እግዚአብሔር ዙፋን ተነሥቶአልና፣ እግዚአብሔር በአማሌቃውያን ላይ ከትውልድ እስከ ትውልድ ጦርነት ያደርጋል” አለ። BSB BSB: “Indeed,” he said, “a hand was lifted up toward the throne of the LORD. The LORD will war against Amalek from generation to generation.”
