1 ULB ዮሴፍም ወደ ፈርዖን ሄዶ፣ “አባቴና ወንድሞቼ በጎቻቸውን፣ ፍየሎቻቸውን እንዲሁም ያላቸውን ሁሉ ይዘው ከከነዓን አገር መጥተው በጌሤም ሰፍረዋል” አለው። BSB BSB: So Joseph went and told Pharaoh: “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in Goshen.”
2 ULB ከወንድሞቹም መካከል አምስቱን መርጦ፣ ፈርዖን ፊት አቀረባቸው። BSB BSB: And he chose five of his brothers and presented them before Pharaoh.
3 ULB ፈርዖን የዮሴፍን ወንድሞች፣ “ሥራችሁን ምንድነው?” ሲል ጠየቃቸው። እነርሱም ፈርዖንን፣ “እኛ አገልጋዮችህ ልክ እንደአባቶቻችን ከብት አርቢዎች ነን” አሉት። BSB BSB: “What is your occupation?” Pharaoh asked Joseph’s brothers. “Your servants are shepherds,” they replied, “both we and our fathers.”
4 ULB ደግሞም፣ “በከነዓን ምድር ራቡ እጅግ የጸና በመሆኑ በጎችና ፍየሎች የሚሰማሩበት በማጣታቸው፣ ለጊዜው እዚህ ለመኖር መጥተናል፤ አሁንም ባሮችህ በጌሤም ምድር እንድንኖር እንድትፈቅድልን እንለምንሃለን” አሉት። BSB BSB: Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the famine in the land of Canaan has been severe. So now, please allow your servants to settle in the land of Goshen.”
5 ULB ፈርዖንም ዮሴፍን እንዲህ አለው፤ “አባትንህና ወንድሞችህ ወደ አንተ መጥተዋል፤ BSB BSB: Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Now that your father and brothers have come to you,
6 ULB የግብፅ ምድር እንደሆነ በእጅህ ነው፤ አባትህንና ወንድሞችህን ምርጥ በሆነው ምድር አስፍራቸው፤ በጌሤም ይኑሩ። ከመካከላቸው ልዩ ችሎታ ያላቸው መኖራቸውን የምታውቅ ከሆነ፣ የከብቶቼ ኅላፊዎች አድርጋቸው።” BSB BSB: the land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and brothers in the best part of the land. They may dwell in the land of Goshen. And if you know of any talented men among them, put them in charge of my own livestock.”
7 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ ዮሴፍ አባቱን ያዕቆብን ቤተ መንግሥት አግብቶ በፈርዖን ፊት አቀረበው፤ ያዕቆብ ፈርዖንን ከመረቀው በኋላ BSB BSB: Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
8 ULB ፈርዖን፣ “ለመሆኑ ዕድሜህ ምን ያህል ነው?” ሲል ያዕቆብን ጠየቀው። BSB BSB: “How many years have you lived?” Pharaoh asked.
9 ULB ያዕቆብም ለፈርዖን፣ “በምድር ላይ በእንግድነት ያሳለፍሁት ዘመን 130 ዓመት ነው፤ ይህም አባቶቼ በእንግድነት ከኖሩበት ዘመን ጋር ሲነጻጸር አጭር ነው፤ ችግር የበዛበትም ነበር” ሲል መለሰለት። BSB BSB: “My travels have lasted 130 years,” Jacob replied. “My years have been few and hard, and they have not matched the years of the travels of my fathers.”
10 ULB ከዚያም ያዕቆብ ፈርዖንን መርቆ፣ ተሰናብቶት ወጣ። BSB BSB: Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh and departed from his presence.
12 ULB ዮሴፍም ለአባቱ፣ ለወንድሞቹና ለመላው የአባቱ ቤተ ሰዎች በልጆቻቸው ቁጥር ልክ ቀለብ እንዲሰፈርላቸው አደረገ። BSB BSB: Joseph also provided his father and brothers and all his father’s household with food for their families.
13 ULB በመላው ምድር እህል ባለመኖሩ ራቡ እየጸና ሄደ፤ ከዚህ የተነሣም ግብፅና ከነዓን በራብ እጅግ ተጎዱ፤ BSB BSB: There was no food, however, in all that region, because the famine was so severe; the lands of Egypt and Canaan had been exhausted by the famine.
14 ULB ዮሴፍ የግብፅና የከነዓን ሰዎች እህል በመሸመት የከፈሉትን ገንዘብ ሁሉ ሰብስቦ ወደ ፈርዖን ቤተ መንግሥት አስገባ። BSB BSB: Joseph collected all the money to be found in the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan in exchange for the grain they were buying, and he brought it into Pharaoh’s palace.
15 ULB የግብፅና የከነዓን ሕዝቦችም ገንዘባቸው ባለቀ ጊዜ፣ ግብፃውያን ሁሉ ወደ ዮሴፍ ቀርበው፣ “የምንበላው እህል ስጠን፣ ገንዘባችን አልቆብናል፤ ዓይንህ እያየ እንዴት በራብ እንለቅ?” አሉት። BSB BSB: When the money from the lands of Egypt and Canaan was gone, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our funds have run out!”
16 ULB ዮሴፍም ከብቶቻችሁን አምጡ፣ ገንዘባችሁ ካለቀ በከብቶቻችህ ለውጥ እህል እሰጣችኋለሁ አለ። BSB BSB: “Then bring me your livestock,” said Joseph. “Since the money is gone, I will sell you food in exchange for your livestock.”
17 ULB ስለዚህ ከብቶቻቸውን ወደ ዮሴፍ አምጡ፤ እርሱም በፈረሶቻቸው፣ በበጎቻቸው፣ በፍየሎቻቸው፣ በከብቶቻቸውና በአህዮቻቸው ለውጥ እህል ሰጣቸው። በከብቶቻቸው ልዋጭ ባገኙት ምግብ በዚያ ዓመት ሳይራቡ እንዲያልፉ አደረጋቸው። BSB BSB: So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and he gave them food in exchange for their horses, their flocks and herds, and their donkeys. Throughout that year he provided them with food in exchange for all their livestock.
18 ULB ያም ዓመት ካለፈ በኋላ ሕዝቡ በሚቀጥለው ዓመት ወደ ዮሴፍ መጥተው እንዲህ አሉት፣ “እንግዲህ ከጌታችን የምንሰውረው ምንም ነገር የለም፤ ገንዘባችን አልቆአል፤ ከብቶቻችንንም አስረክበንሃል፤ እንግዲህ ለጌታችን የምንሰጠው፣ ከሰውነታችንና ከመሬታችን በቀር ሌላ ምንም ነገር የለንም። BSB BSB: When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.
19 ULB ታዲያ እያየኸን እንዴት እንለቅ? መሬታችንም ለምን ጠፍ ሆኖ ይቅር? እኛንና መሬታችንን ውሰድና በለውጡ እህል ስጠን፤ እኛ የፈርዓን አገልጋዮች እንሆናለን፤ መሬታችንም የእርሱ ይሁን፣ እኛም እንዳንሞት መሬታችንም ጠፍ ሆኖ እንዳይቀር የምንዘራው ዘር ስጠን። BSB BSB: Why should we perish before your eyes—we and our land as well? Purchase us and our land in exchange for food. Then we, along with our land, will be slaves to Pharaoh. Give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become desolate.”
20 ULB ስለዚህ ዮሴፍ የግብፅን ምድር ሁሉ ለፈርዖን ገዛለት፤ ራቡም እጅግ ስለጸናባቸው ግብፃውያን ሁሉ መሬታቸውን ሸጡ፣ ምድሪቱም የፈርዖን ርስት ሆነች። BSB BSB: So Joseph acquired for Pharaoh all the land in Egypt; the Egyptians, one and all, sold their fields because the famine was so severe upon them. The land became Pharaoh’s,
21 ULB ዮሴፍ በግብፅ አገር ዳር እስከ ዳር ያሉት ሰዎች ሁሉ የንጉሡ አገልጋዮች እንዲሆኑ አደረገ። BSB BSB: and Joseph reduced the people to servitude from one end of Egypt to the other.
22 ULB ሆኖም ዮሴፍ የካህናቱን መሬት አልገዛም፤ ምክንያቱም ካህናቱ ከፈርዖን ቋሚ አበል ስለሚያገኙ እርሱም ከሚሰጣቸው አበል ምግብ ያገኙ ስለነበረ መሬታቸውን አልሸጡም። BSB BSB: However, he did not acquire the priests’ portion of the land, for it had been given to them by Pharaoh. They ate the rations that Pharaoh supplied; so they did not sell their land.
23 ULB ዮሴፍ ሕዝቡን እንዲህ አላቸው፣ “እነሆ፣ ዛሬ እናንተንም መሬታችሁንም ለፈርዖን ገዝቻችኋለሁና ይህን ዘር ወስዳችሁ በመሬት ላይ ዝሩ። BSB BSB: Then Joseph said to the people, “Now that I have acquired you and your land for Pharaoh this day, here is seed for you to sow in the land.
24 ULB መከሩ በሚሰበሰብበት ጊዜ ግን ከአምስት እጅ አንዱን ለፈርዖን ታስገባላችሁ፣ ከአምስት እጅ አራቱን ደግሞ ለመሬታችሁ ዘር፣ እንዲሁም ለራሳችሁ፣ ለቤተ ሰቦቻችሁና ለልጆቻችሁ ምግብ ታደርጉታላችሁ።” BSB BSB: At harvest time, you are to give a fifth of it to Pharaoh, and four-fifths will be yours as seed for the field and food for yourselves and your households and children.”
25 ULB እነርሱም፣ “እንግዲህ ሕይወታችንን አትርፈህልናል፤ በጌታችን ፊት ሞገስ ካገኘን ለፈርዖን ገባሮች እንሆናለን” አሉት። BSB BSB: “You have saved our lives,” they said. “We have found favor in our lord’s eyes, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”
26 ULB ስለዚህ ዮሴፍ የምርቱ አንድ አምስተኛ ለፈርዖን እንዲገባ የሚያዝ የመሬት ሕግ አወጣ፤ ይህም ሕግ እስከ ዛሬ ይሠራበታል። በፈርዖን እጅ ያልገባው መሬት የካህናቱ ብቻ ነው። BSB BSB: So Joseph established a law that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh, and it is in effect in the land of Egypt to this day. Only the priests’ land does not belong to Pharaoh.
27 ULB በዚህ ጊዜ እስራኤላውያን በግብፅ አገር በጌሤም ይኖሩ ነበር፣ በዚያም ሀብት ንብረት አፈሩ፤ ቁጥራቸውም እጅግ እየበዛ ይሄድ ጀመር። BSB BSB: Now the Israelites settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and became fruitful and increased greatly in number.
28 ULB ያዕቆብ በግብፅ ዐሥራ ሰባት ዓመት ኖረ፣ ዕድሜውም አንድ መቶ አርባ ሰባት ዓመት ነበር። BSB BSB: And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years, and the length of his life was 147 years.
29 ULB እስራኤልም የሚሞትበት ጊዜ መቃረቡን እንደተረዳ ልጁን ዮሴፍን አስጠርቶ እንዲህ አለው፤ “በአንተ ዘንድ ሞገስ ካገኘሁ እጅህን በጭኔ ላይ አኑረህ፣ በጎነትንና ታማኝነትን ልታደርግልኝ ቃል ግባልኝ፤ በምሞትበት ጊዜ በግብፅ አትቅበረኝ፤ BSB BSB: When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt,
30 ULB እኔም ከአባቶቼ ጋር ሳንቀላፋ ከግብፅ አውጥተህ እነርሱ በተቀበሩበት ቦት ቅበረኝ” ዮሴፍም፣ “እሺ፣ እንዳልኸኝ አደርጋለሁ” አለ። BSB BSB: but when I lie down with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me with them.” Joseph answered, “I will do as you have requested.”
31 ULB ያዕቆብ፤ “በል ማልልኝ” አለው። ዮሴፍም ማለለት፣ እስራኤልም በአልጋው ራስጌ ላይ ሆኖ ጎንበስ አለ። BSB BSB: “Swear to me,” Jacob said. So Joseph swore to him, and Israel bowed in worship at the head of his bed.
