1 ULB ከዓይኔ ጋር ቃል ኪዳን ስለገባሁ፤ እንዴት ድንግሊቱን በምኞት እመለከታለሁ? BSB BSB: “I have made a covenant with my eyes. How then could I gaze with desire at a virgin?
2 ULB ከላይ ከእግዚአብሔር የሆነው እድል ፈንታ፥ ሁሉንም የሚችል አምላክስ ርስት ከአርያም ምንድን ነው? BSB BSB: For what is the allotment of God from above, or the heritage from the Almighty on high?
3 ULB መዓት ለኃጢአተኛ፥ ጥፋትም ክፋትን ለሚያደርጉ ነው ብዬ አስብ ነበር። BSB BSB: Does not disaster come to the unjust and calamity to the workers of iniquity?
4 ULB እግዚአብሔር መንገዴን አያይምን? እርምጃዬንስ ሁሉ አይቈጥርምን? BSB BSB: Does He not see my ways and count my every step?
5 ULB በሐሰት ሄጄ እንደ ሆነ እግሬም ለሽንገላ ቸኵሎ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: If I have walked in falsehood or my foot has rushed to deceit,
6 ULB በእውነተኛ ሚዛን ልመዘን፥ እግዚአብሔርም ትክክለኛቴን ይወቅ። BSB BSB: let God weigh me with honest scales, that He may know my integrity.
7 ULB እርምጃዬ ከትክክለኛው መንገድ ፈቀቅ ብሎ፥ ልቤም የዓይኔን ምኞት ተከትሎ፥ ነውርም በእጄ ላይ ተጣብቆ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: If my steps have turned from the path, if my heart has followed my eyes, or if impurity has stuck to my hands,
8 ULB እኔ ልዝራ፥ ሌላ ሰውም ይብላው፤ መከሩም ከእርሻዬ ላይ ይነቀል። BSB BSB: then may another eat what I have sown, and may my crops be uprooted.
9 ULB ልቤ ወደ ሌላይቱ ሴት ጐምጅቶ እንደ ሆነ፥ የጎረቤቴን ሚስት ለማየት ደጃፉ አድብቼ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: If my heart has been enticed by my neighbor’s wife, or I have lurked at his door,
10 ULB ሚስቴ ለሌላ ሰው እህል ታዘጋጅ፥ ሌሎችም ከእርስዋ ጋር ይተኙ። BSB BSB: then may my own wife grind grain for another, and may other men sleep with her.
11 ULB ይህ ክፉ ወንጀል ነውና፥ በፈራጆችም ሊቀጣ የሚገባው በደል ነውና፤ BSB BSB: For that would be a heinous crime, an iniquity to be judged.
12 ULB ይህ እስከ ሲኦል ድረስ የሚበላ እሳት፥ ያመረትኩትን ሁሉ የሚያቃጥል ነውና። BSB BSB: For it is a fire that burns down to Abaddon; it would root out my entire harvest.
13 ULB ወንድ ወይም ሴት ባሪያዎቼ ከእኔ ጋር በተምዋገቱ ጊዜ፥ ሙግታቸውን በትክክል ሳላይ ቀርቼ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: If I have rejected the cause of my manservant or maidservant when they made a complaint against me,
14 ULB እግዚአብሔር ሊከሰኝ በተነሣ ጊዜ ምን አደርጋለሁ? ሊፈርደኝም በመጣ ጊዜ እንዴት እመልስለታለሁ? BSB BSB: what will I do when God rises to judge? How will I answer when called to account?
15 ULB እኔን በማኅፀን የሰራኝ እነርሱንስ የፈጠረ አይደለምን? በማኅፀንስ ውስጥ ሁላችንን የሠራን አንድ አይደለምን? BSB BSB: Did not He who made me in the womb also make them? Did not the same One form us in the womb?
16 ULB ድሀዎችን ከፍላጎታቸው ከልክዬ፥ የመበለቲቱንም ዓይን በለቅሶ አጨልሜ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: If I have denied the desires of the poor or allowed the widow’s eyes to fail,
17 ULB እንጀራዬን ለብቻዬ በልቼ እንደ ሆነ፥ አባት የሌላቸውንም ከእርሱ እንዳይበሉ ከልክዬ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: if I have eaten my morsel alone, not sharing it with the fatherless—
18 ULB ይልቁን እርሱ ከታናሽነቴ ጀምሬ እንደ አባቱ ሆኜ ከእኔ ጋር አሳድጌው ነበር፥ እናቱንም ከእናቴ ማኅፀን ጀምሬ መራኋት፤ BSB BSB: though from my youth I reared him as would a father, and from my mother’s womb I guided the widow—
19 ULB አንድ ሰው የሚለብሰው አጥቶ ሲጠፋ፥ ወይም ድሀ ያለ ልብስ ሲሆን እንዲያው አይቼ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: if I have seen one perish for lack of clothing, or a needy man without a cloak,
20 ULB በበጎቼም ጠጕር ያልሞቀና፥ በልቡ ያልባረከኝ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: if his heart has not blessed me for warming him with the fleece of my sheep,
21 ULB በከተማው በር ረዳት ስላለኝ፥ አባት በሌላቸው ላይ እጄን አንሥቼ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless because I saw that I had support in the gate,
22 ULB ትከሻዬ ከመጋጠሚያው ይውደቅ፥ ክንዴም ከመገናኛው ይሰበር። BSB BSB: then may my arm fall from my shoulder and be torn from its socket.
23 ULB ከእግዚአብሔር የሆነ ቁጣ ለእኔ አስደንጋጭ ነውና ከግርማውም የተነሳ እነዚህን ነገሮች ማድረግ አልችልም። BSB BSB: For calamity from God terrifies me, and His splendor I cannot overpower.
24 ULB ወርቅን ተስፋዬ አድርጌ፥ ጥሩውንም ወርቅ”በአንተ እታመናለሁ“ብዬ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: If I have put my trust in gold or called pure gold my security,
25 ULB ሀብቴ ስለ በዛ፥ እጄም ብዙ ስላከማቸ ደስ ብሎኝ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: if I have rejoiced in my great wealth because my hand had gained so much,
26 ULB ፀሐይ ሲበራ ተመልክቼ፥ ጨረቃ በድምቀት ስትሄድ አይቼ፥ BSB BSB: if I have beheld the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor,
27 ULB ልቤ እነርሱን ለማምለክ በስውር ተስቦ፥ አፌም እጄን ስሞ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth,
28 ULB በላይ ያለውን እግዚአብሔርን መካድ ነውና ይህም ዳኞች ሊቀጡት የሚገባ ወንጀል በሆነ ነበር። BSB BSB: this would also be an iniquity to be judged, for I would have denied God on high.
29 ULB በሚጠላኝ በማንም መጥፋት ደስ ብሎኝ ወይም ክፉ ነገር በሆነበት ጊዜ ራሴን አስደስቼው እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: If I have rejoiced in my enemy’s ruin, or exulted when evil befell him—
30 ULB ለነፍሱ እርግማንን በመናገር፥ አንደበቴ ኃጢአት እንዲሰራ በርግጥ አልፈቀድኩለትም፤ BSB BSB: I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking for his life with a curse—
31 ULB በድንኳኔ የሚኖሩ ሰዎች፦ “ከኢዪብ ማዕድ ያልጠገበ ማን ይገኛል?” ብለው ካልተናገሩ፤ BSB BSB: if the men of my house have not said, ‘Who is there who has not had his fill?’—
32 ULB መጻተኛው በከተማ ጎዳና እንዳያድርም፥ ሁልጊዜ ደጄን ለመንገደኛ እከፍት ነበር፤ BSB BSB: but no stranger had to lodge on the street, for my door has been open to the traveler—
33 ULB በደሌንም በብብቴ በመሸሸግ ኃጢአቴን እንደ ሰዉ ሁሉ ደብቄ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: if I have covered my transgressions like Adam by hiding my guilt in my heart,
34 ULB የሕዝብን ብዛት ከመፍራቴ የተነሳ፥ የዘመዶቼም ንቀት አስደንግጦኝ፥ ዝም ብዬ ከቤቴ ሳልወጣ ቀርቼ እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: because I greatly feared the crowds and the contempt of the clans terrified me, so that I kept silent and would not go outside—
35 ULB ኦ የሚያዳምጠኝ አንድ ሰው ምነው በኖረኝ! ይኸው የእጄ ፊርማ ምልክት፤ ሁሉን የሚችል አምላክ ይመልስልኝ! ባላጋራዬ የጻፈው የክስ ጽሑፍ ምነው በተገኘልኝ! BSB BSB: (Oh, that I had one to hear me! Here is my signature. Let the Almighty answer me; let my accuser compose an indictment.
36 ULB በግልጽ ትከሻዬ ላይ አድርጌ እሸከመው ነበር፥ እንደ አክሊልም ራሴ ላይ አስቀምጠው ነበር። BSB BSB: Surely I would carry it on my shoulder and wear it like a crown.
37 ULB የእርምጃዎቼን ቍጥር በግልጽ አስታውቀው፥ እንደ ተማመነ አለቃም ፊትለፊቱ እወጣ ነበር። BSB BSB: I would give account of all my steps; I would approach Him like a prince.)—
38 ULB የእርሻዬ መሬት በእኔ ላይ ጮሆ እንደ ሆነ፥ ትልሞቹም አብረው አልቅሰው እንደ ሆነ፤ BSB BSB: if my land cries out against me and its furrows weep together,
39 ULB የምርቱን ዋጋ ሳልከፍል በልቼ፥ የባለቤቶቹንም ነፍስ አሳዝኜ እንደ ሆነ፥ BSB BSB: if I have devoured its produce without payment or broken the spirit of its tenants,
40 ULB በስንዴ ፋንታ እሾኸ፥ በገብስም ፋንታ አረም ይብቀልበት።“የኢዮብም ንግግር ተፈጸመ። BSB BSB: then let briers grow instead of wheat and stinkweed instead of barley.” Thus conclude the words of Job.
