Joshua 21 (ULB)

1ከዚያም የሌዋውያን ወገኖች አለቆች ወደ ካህኑ አልዓዘር፥ ወደ ነዌ ልጅ ኢያሱና ወደ እስራኤል ነገዶች አለቆች ቀርቡ።Now the family heads of the Levites approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the other tribes of Israel

2እነርሱም በከነዓን ምድር ባለችው በሴሎ እንዲህ አሉአቸው፡- እግዚአብሔር በሙሴ እጅ የምንቀመጥባቸውንና ለከብቶቻችንም መሰማሪያ የሚሆኑ ከተሞች እንድትሰጡን አዞአችኋል።at Shiloh in the land of Canaan and said to them, “The LORD commanded through Moses that we be given cities in which to live, together with pasturelands for our livestock.”

3ስለዚህም የእስራኤልም ሕዝብ በእግዚአብሔር ትእዛዝ የሚከተሉትን ከተሞች ለከብቶቻቸውም መሰማሪያ ጭምር እንዲሆኑ ርስታቸውን ለሌዋውያን ሰጡአቸው።So by the command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites these cities and their pasturelands out of their own inheritance:

4ለቀዓትም ወገኖች የዕጣው ውጤት እንዲህ ሆነ፦ ሌዋውያንም ለነበሩ ለካህኑ ለአሮን ልጆች፥ ከይሁዳ ነገድ ከስምዖንም ነገድ ከብንያምም ነገድ አሥራ ሦስት ከተሞች ተሰጣቸው።The first lot came out for the Kohathite clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

5ለቀሩትም ለቀዓት ልጆች ከኤፍሬም ነገድ፥ ከዳንም ነገድና ከምናሴ ነገድ እክኩሌታ አሥር ከተሞች በዕጣ ተቀበሉ።The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten cities by lot from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

6ለጌድሶንም ልጆች ከይሳኮር ነገድ፥ ከአሴር ነገድ፥ ከንፍታሌምም ነገድ፥ በባሳን ካለው ከምናሴ ነገድ እኩሌታ አሥራ ሦስት ከተሞች በዕጣ ተሰጣቸው።The descendants of Gershon received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

7ለሜራሪም ልጅች በየወገኖቻቸው ከሮቤል ነገድ፥ከጋድ ነገድና ከዛብሎን ነገድአሥራ ሁለት ከተሞ ተቀበሉ።And the descendants of Merari received twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

8እግዚአብሔርም በሙሴ እጅ እንዳዘዛቸው የእስራኤል ልጆች እነዚህን ከተሞችና መሰማሪያቸውን ለሌዋውያን በዕጣ ሰጡ።So the Israelites allotted to the Levites these cities, together with their pasturelands, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.

9ከይሁዳም ልጆች ነገድ ከስምዖንም ልጆች ነገድ በስማቸው እነዚህን ከተሞች ሰጡ።From the tribes of Judah and Simeon, they designated these cities by name

10እነዚህ ከተሞች ከሌዊ ልጆች ነገድ የቀዓት ወገን ለሆኑ ለአሮን ልጆች ተሰጥቶአቸው ነበር። የመጀመሪያው ዕጣ ለእነርሱ ወጥቶላቸው ነበር።to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clans of the Levites, because the first lot fell to them:

11እንደ ኬብሮን ተመሳሳይ ቦታ በይሁዳ ተራራማ አገር ያለችውን ቂርያት አርባቅ (ይህም አርባቅ የዔናቅ አባት ነበረ) የምትባለውን ከተማ በዙሪያዋም ያለውን የከብቶች መሰማሪያዋን ሰጡአቸው።They gave them Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pasturelands, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the father of Anak.)

12የከተማይቱንም እርሻ ግን መንደሮችዋንም ለዮፎኒ ልጅ ለካሌብ ርስት አድርገው ሰጡት።But they had given the fields and villages around the city to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.

13ለካህኑም ለአሮን ልጆች ሳያውቁ ነፍሰ ገዳይ ለሆኑት መማፀኛ ከተማ የሆነችውን ኬብሮንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ልብናን ከመሰማሪያዋን ጋር ሰጡ፤So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave these cities, together with their pasturelands: Hebron, a city of refuge for the manslayer, Libnah,

14የቲርንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ኤሽት ሞዓንና መሰማሪያዋን፥Jattir, Eshtemoa,

15ሖሎንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ዳቤርንና መሰማሪያዋን፥Holon, Debir,

16ዓይንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ዮጣንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ቤት ሳሚስንና መሰማሪያዋን ሰጡ። ከእነዚህ ከሁለቱ ነገዶች ዘጠኝ ከተሞችን ነበሩ።Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh—nine cities from these two tribes, together with their pasturelands.

17ከብንያምም ነገድ ገባዖንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ናሲብንና መሰማሪያዋን፥And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave them Gibeon, Geba,

18ዓናቶትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ አልሞንንና መሰማሪያዋን፤አራት ከተሞችን ሰጡ።Anathoth, and Almon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

19ለአሮን ልጆች ለካህናት የተሰጡ ከተሞች ከመሰማሪያቸው ባጠቃላይ አሥራ ሦስት ከተሞች ናቸው።In all, thirteen cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.

20ለቀሩትም ለቀዓት ልጆች ወገኖች ሌዋውያን የተሰጣቸ ከተሞች ከኤፍሬም ነገድ ዕጣ ወጥቶላቸው ነበር።The remaining Kohathite clans of the Levites were allotted these cities: From the tribe of Ephraim

21ለእነርሱም በኤፍሬም ተራራማ አገር ሳያውቁ ነፍሰ ገዳይ ለሆኑት መማፀኛ ከተማ የሆነችውን ሴኬምንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ጌዝርንና መሰማሪያዋን፥they were given Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a city of refuge for the manslayer), Gezer,

22ቂብጻይምንና መስማሪያዋን፥ ቤት ሖሮንንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ሰጡአቸው።Kibzaim, and Beth-horon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

23ከዳንም ነገድ ኤልተቄንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ገባቶንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥From the tribe of Dan they were given Elteke, Gibbethon,

24ኤሎንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ጋትሪሞንንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ሰጡአቸው።Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

25ከምናሴም ነገድ እኩሌታ ታዕናክንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ጋትሪሞንንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ ሁለቱን ከተሞች ሰጡአቸው።And from the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Taanach and Gath-rimmon—two cities, together with their pasturelands.

26ለቀሩት የቀዓት ልጆች ወገኖች የተሰጡ ከተሞች ሁሉ ከመሰማሪያቸውን ጋር አሥር ከተሞችናቸው።In all, ten cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the rest of the Kohathite clans.

27ለሌሎች ሌዋውያንም ወገኖች ለጌድሶን ልጆች ከምናሴ ነገድ እኩሌታ ሳያውቁ ነፍሰ ገዳይ ለሆኑት መማፀኛ ከተማ በባሳን ውስጥ የሆነችውን ጎላንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ በኤሽትራንና መሰማይያዋን ሁለቱን ከተሞች ሰጡአቸው።This is what the Levite clans of the Gershonites were given: From the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan, a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Beeshterah—two cities, together with their pasturelands.

28ከይሳኮርም ነገድ ቂሶንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ዳብራትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kishion, Daberath,

29የያርሙትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ዓይንጋኒምንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ለጋሪሶን ነገድ ሰጡአቸው።Jarmuth, and En-gannim—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

30ከአሴርም ነገድ ሚሽአልንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ዓብዶንና መሰማሪያዋን፥From the tribe of Asher they were given Mishal, Abdon,

31ሔልቃትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ረአብንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ሰጡአቸው።Helkath, and Rehob—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

32ከንፍታሌምም ነገድ ሳያውቁ ነፍሰ ገዳይ ለሆኑት መማፀኛ ከተማ የሆነችውን በገሊላ ውስጥ ቃዴስንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ሐሞትዶርንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ቀርታንንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ ሦስቱን ከተሞች ለጌድሶን ነገድ ሰጡአቸው።And from the tribe of Naphtali they were given Kedesh in Galilee (a city of refuge for the manslayer), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan—three cities, together with their pasturelands.

33የጌድሶን ልጆች ከተሞች ሁሉ በየወገኖቻቸው ከመሰማሪያቸው ጋር አሥራ ሦስት ከተሞች ናቸው።In all, thirteen cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the Gershonite clans.

34ከሌዋውያንም ለቀሩት ለሜራሪ ልጆች ወገን ከዛብሎን ነገድ ዮቅንዓምንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ቀርታንና መሰማሪያዋን፥This is what the Merarite clan (the rest of the Levites) were given: From the tribe of Zebulun they were given Jokneam, Kartah,

35ዲሞናንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ነህላልንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ሰጡ።Dimnah, and Nahalal—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

36ለሜራሪ ነገድ ከሮቤልም ነገድ ቦሶርንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ያሀጽንና መሰምሪያዋን፥From the tribe of Reuben they were given Bezer, Jahaz,

37ቅዴሞትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ሜፍዓትንና መሰማሪያዋን፤ አራቱን ከተሞች ሰጡ።Kedemoth, and Mephaath—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

38ሳያውቁ ነፍሰ ገዳይ ለሆኑት መማፀኛ ከተማ የሆነችውን ከጋድም ነገድ በገለዓድ ውስጥ ራሞትንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ መሃናይምንማ መሰማሪያዋን ሰጡ።And from the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for the manslayer, Mahanaim,

39ሐሴቦንንና መሰማሪያዋን፥ ኢያዜርንና መሰማሪያዋን ሜራሪ ነገድ ደግሞ የተሰጡ ባጠቃላይ አራት ከተሞች ናቸው።Heshbon, and Jazer—four cities in all, together with their pasturelands.

40ከሌዋውያን ወገኖች የቀሩት የሜራሪ ልጆች ከተሞች ሁሉ በየወገኖቻቸው እነዚህ ነበሩ፤ ዕጣቸውም ባጠቃላይ አሥራ ሁለት ከተሞች ነበሩ።In all, twelve cities were allotted to the clans of Merari, the remaining Levite clans.

41በእስራኤል ልጆች ርስት መካከል የነበሩት የሌዋውያን ከተሞች ሁሉ አርባ ስምንት ከተሞችና መሰማሪያቸው ነበሩ።For the Levites, then, there were forty-eight cities in all, together with their pasturelands, within the territory of the Israelites.

42እነዚህም ከተሞች እያንዳንዳቸው ከመሰማሪያቸው ጋር ነበሩ፤ እነዚህም ከተሞች ሁሉ በዚህ ዓይነት መንገድ ነበሩ።Each of these cities had its own surrounding pasturelands; this was true for all the cities.

43እግዚአብሔርም ይሰጣቸው ዘንድ ለአባቶቻቸው የማለላቸውን ምድር ሁሉ ለእስራኤል ሰጠ። ወረሱአትም፥ ተቀመጡባትም።Thus the LORD gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers, and they took possession of it and settled in it.

44እግዚአብሔርም ለአባቶቻቸው እንደ ማለላቸው በዙሪያቸው ካሉት አሳረፋቸው። ከጠላቶቻቸውም ሁሉ ይቋቋማቸው ዘንድ ማንም ሰው አልቻለም፤ እግዚአብሔርም ጠላቶቻቸውን ሁሉ በእጃቸው አሳልፎ ሰጣቸው።And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

45እግዚአብሔር ለእስራኤል ቤት ከተናገረው መልካም ነገር ሁሉ ተፈጸመ እንጂ ምንም አልቀረም።Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel had failed; everything was fulfilled.
