2 ULB እግዚአብሔርም አላቸው፡- “ይሁዳ ይመራችኋል፡፡ ተመልከቱ፣ ምድሪቱን ለእነርሱ አሳልፌ ሰጥቻለሁ፡፡” BSB BSB: “Judah shall go up,” answered the LORD. “Indeed, I have delivered the land into their hands.”
3 ULB የይሁዳም ሰዎች ለወንድሞቻቸው ለስምዖን ሰዎች እንዲህ አሏቸው፡- “ከነዓናውያንን አብረን እንወጋቸው ዘንድ ከእኛ ጋር ለእኛ ወደተሰጠው ክልል ኑ፡፡ እኛም እንዲሁ ለእናንተ ወደተሰጠው ክልል እንመጣለን፡፡” ስለዚህም የስምዖን ነገድ ከእነርሱ ጋር ሄዱ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the men of Judah said to their brothers the Simeonites, “Come up with us to our allotted territory, and let us fight against the Canaanites. And we likewise will go with you to your territory.” So the Simeonites went with them.
4 ULB የይሁዳ ሰዎችም ወደ ላይ ወጡ፣ እግዚአብሔርም በከነዓናውያንና በፌርዛውያን ላይ ድልን ሰጣቸው፡፡ በቤዜቅም ከእነርሱ አስር ሺህ ሰዎችን ገደሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: When Judah attacked, the LORD delivered the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands, and they struck down ten thousand men at Bezek.
5 ULB አዶኒ ቤዜቅን በቤዜቅ አገኙት፣ ከእርሱም ጋር ተዋግተው ከነዓናውያንና ፌርዛውያንን አሸነፉ፡፡ BSB BSB: And there they found Adoni-bezek and fought against him, striking down the Canaanites and Perizzites.
6 ULB አዶኒ ቤዜቅ ግን ሸሸ፣ ተከታትለውም አገኙትና ያዙት፣ የእጁንና የእግሩን አውራጣቶች ቆረጡ፡፡ BSB BSB: As Adoni-bezek fled, they pursued him, seized him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.
7 ULB አዶኒ ቤዜቅም እንዲህ አለ፡- “የእግርና የእጅ አውራ ጣቶቻቸው የተቆረጠባቸው ሰባ ነገስታት ከእኔ ማዕድ ስር መብላቸውን ሰበሰቡ፡፡ እኔ እንዳደረግሁት፣ እግዚአብሔር በእኔ ላይ አደረገብኝ፡፡” እርሱንም ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም አመጡት፣ በዚያም ሞተ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have gathered the scraps under my table. As I have done to them, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
8 ULB የይሁዳ ሰዎች ከኢየሩሳሌም ከተማ ጋር ተዋግተው ተቆጣጠሯት፡፡ በሰይፍ ስለት ወጓት፣ ከተማዋንም አቃጠሏት፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.
9 ULB ከዚያም በኋላ የይሁዳ ሰዎች በኮረብታማው አገር ይኖሩ የነበሩትን ከነዓናውያንን ለመዋጋት፣ወደ ኔጌብና ወደ ምዕራቡ ኮረብታ ግርጌ ወረዱ፡፡ BSB BSB: Afterward, the men of Judah marched down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev, and in the foothills.
10 ULB ይሁዳም በኬብሮን (የኬብሮን ስም ቀድሞ ቂርያት አርባቅ ትባል ነበር) የሚኖሩትን ከነዓናውያንን ለመውጋት ሄደ፣ ሴሲን፣ አክመንና ቴላሚንም ድል አደረጉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Judah also marched against the Canaanites who were living in Hebron (formerly known as Kiriath-arba), and they struck down Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.
11 ULB ከዚያም የይሁዳ ሰዎች ወደ ዴብር (የዴብር ስም ቀድሞ ቅርያት ሤፍር ተብላ ትጠራ ነበር) ሄዱ፡፡ BSB BSB: From there they marched against the inhabitants of Debir (formerly known as Kiriath-sepher).
12 ULB ካሌብም አለ፣ “ቅርያት ሤፍርን የሚዋጋና የሚቆጣጠራትን ሰው፣ ሴት ልጄን ዓክሳን ሚስት ትሆነው ዘንድ እሰጠዋለሁ፡፡” BSB BSB: And Caleb said, “To the man who strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage.”
13 ULB የካሌብ ታናሽ ወንድም የቄናዝ ልጅ ጎቶንያልም ዴብርን ተቆጣጠረ፣ ስለዚህ ካሌብ ሴት ልጁን ዓክሳን ሚስት ትሆነው ዘንድ ሰጠው፡፡ BSB BSB: So Othniel son of Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz captured the city, and Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.
14 ULB ዓክሳም ወዲያውኑ ወደ ጎቶንያል መጣች፣ ለእርሱም አባቷ እርሻ እንዲሰጣት እንዲለምነው ጠየቀችው፡፡ ከአሕያዋም በወረደች ጊዜ፣ ካሌብ እንዲህ ብሎ ጠየቃት፣ “ምን እንዳደርግልሽ ትፈልጊያለሽ?” BSB BSB: One day Acsah came to Othniel and urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you desire?”
15 ULB እርሷም እንዲህ አለችው፣ “በረከትን ስጠኝ፡፡ በኔጌብ ምድር ያለውን መሬት ሰጥተኸኛልና፣ የውሃ ምንጭንም ስጠኝ፡፡” ካሌብም የላይኛውንና የታችኛውን ምንጭ ሰጣት፡፡ BSB BSB: “Give me a blessing,” she answered. “Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water as well.” So Caleb gave her both the upper and lower springs.
16 ULB የቄናዊው የሙሴ አማት ዘሮችም ከባለ ዘንባባዋ ከተማ ለቀው ከይሁዳ ሰዎች ጋር በኔጌብ ወዳለችው ወደ ይሁዳ ምድረ በዳ ከይሁዳ ሰዎች ጋር በዓራድ አጠገብ ለመኖር ሄዱ፡፡ BSB BSB: Now the descendants of Moses’ father-in-law, the Kenite, went up with the men of Judah from the City of Palms to the Wilderness of Judah in the Negev near Arad. They went to live among the people.
17 ULB የይሁዳ ሰዎችም ከወንድሞቻቸው ከስምዖን ሰዎች ጋር ሄዱና በጽፋት ይኖሩ የነበሩትን ከነዓናውያንን ወጓቸው፣ፈጽሞም አጠፏት፡፡ የከተማይቱም ስም ሔርማ ይባል ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the men of Judah went with their brothers the Simeonites, attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath, and devoted the city to destruction. So it was called Hormah.
18 ULB በተጨማሪ የይሁዳ ሰዎች ጋዛንና በዙርያዋ ያለውን አገር፣ አስቀሎናንና በዙርያዋ ያለውን አገር እንደዚሁም አቃሮንንና በዙርያዋ ያለውን አገር ሁሉ ተቆጣጠሩ፡፡ BSB BSB: And Judah also captured Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ekron—each with its territory.
19 ULB እግዚአብሔርም ከይሁዳ ሰዎች ጋር ነበር፣ የኮረብታማውንም አገር ተቆጣጠሩ፣ ነገር ግን በረባዳው ምድር የሚኖሩትን ሰዎች ማስወጣት አልቻሉም ነበር ምክንያቱም ነዋሪዎቹ የብረት ሰረገሎች ነበሯቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: The LORD was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plains because they had chariots of iron.
20 ULB ሙሴም እንደተናገረ ኬብሮንን ለካሌብ ሰጡት፣ እርሱም የዔናቅን ሶስት ልጆች ከዚያ አስወጣቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Just as Moses had promised, Judah gave Hebron to Caleb, who drove out the descendants of the three sons of Anak.
22 ULB የዮሴፍ ወገንም ቤቴልን ለመውጋት ተዘጋጁ፣ እግዚአብሔርም ከእነርሱ ጋር ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: The house of Joseph also attacked Bethel, and the LORD was with them.
23 ULB ቀድሞ ሎዛ ተብላ ትጠራ የነበረችውን ቤቴልን ለመሰለል ሰዎችን ላኩ፡፡ BSB BSB: They sent spies to Bethel (formerly known as Luz),
24 ULB ሰላዮቹም ከከተማው አንድ ሰው ሲወጣ አዩ፣ እንዲህም አሉት፣ “ወደ ከተማው እንዴት መግባት እንደምንችል እባክህ አሳየን፣ ለአንተም ቸርነት እናደርግልሃለን፡፡” BSB BSB: and when the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him, “Please show us how to get into the city, and we will treat you kindly.”
25 ULB እርሱም ወደ ከተማው መግቢያውን መንገድ አሳያቸው፡፡ እነርሱም በሰይፍ ስለት ከተማውን ወጉ፣ ያንን ሰውና ቤተሰቦቹንም እንዲያመልጡ አደረጓቻው፡፡ BSB BSB: So the man showed them the entrance to the city, and they put the city to the sword but released that man and all his family.
26 ULB ሰውየውም ወደ ኬጢያውያን ሐገር ሄደና ከተማ ገነባ ስሙንም ሎዛ አለው፣ የዚያ ቦታ ስምም እስከዛሬ ሎዛ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: And the man went to the land of the Hittites, built a city, and called it Luz, which is its name to this day.
28 ULB እስራኤልም በበረታ ጊዜ፣ ከነዓናውያንን የጉልበት ስራ እየሰሩ እንዲያገለግሉአቸው አስገደዷቸው፣ ነገር ግን ሙሉ በሙሉ አላስወጧቸውም፡፡ BSB BSB: When Israel became stronger, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor, but they never drove them out completely.
29 ULB ኤፍሬም በጌዝር ይኖሩ የነበሩትን ከነዓናውያን አላስወጣቸውም፣ ስለዚህ ከነዓናውያን በእነርሱ መካከል በጌዝር መኖር ቀጠሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Ephraim also failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer; so the Canaanites continued to dwell among them in Gezer.
30 ULB ዛብሎንም በቂድሮን የሚኖሩትን ሰዎች ወይም በነህሎል ይኖሩ የነበሩትንም ሰዎች አላስወጣቸውም፣ ስለዚህ ከነዓናውያን በእነርሱ መካከል መኖር ቀጠሉ፣ ነገር ግን ዛብሎን ከነዓናውያን የጉልበት ስራ እየሰሩ እንዲያገለግሉአቸው ያስገድዳቸው ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: Zebulun failed to drive out the inhabitants of Kitron and Nahalol; so the Canaanites lived among them and served as forced laborers.
31 ULB አሴር በዓኮ፣ በሲዶን፣ በአሕላብ፣ በአክዚብ፣ በሒልባን፣ በአፌቅ፣ በረአብም የሚኖሩትን ሰዎች አላስወጣቸውም፡፡ BSB BSB: Asher failed to drive out the inhabitants of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, and Rehob.
32 ULB ስለዚህ የአሴር ነገድ በምድሪቱ በሚኖሩት በከነዓናውያን መካከል ኖሩ፣ ምክንያቱም አላስወጧቸውም ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: So the Asherites lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, because they did not drive them out.
33 ULB የንፍታሌም ነገድ በቤት ሳሚስና በቤት ዓናት ይኖሩ የነበሩትን ሰዎችን አላስወጧቸውም፡፡ ስለዚህ የንፍታሌም ነገድ በምድራቸው ይኖሩ በነበሩ በነዓናውያን ሰዎች መካከል አብረው ኖሩ፡፡ ይሁን እንጂ የቤት ሳሚስና የቤት ዓናት ነዋሪዎች ለንፍታሌም ሰዎች የጉልበት ስራ እንዲሰሩ ይገደዱ ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: Naphtali failed to drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath. So the Naphtalites also lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, but the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath served them as forced laborers.
34 ULB አሞራውያንም የዳን ነገድ በኮረብታማው አገር እንዲኖሩ አስገደዷቸው፣ ወደ ሜዳማ ስፍራ ወርደው እንዲኖሩ አልፈቀዱላቸውም ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: The Amorites forced the Danites into the hill country and did not allow them to come down into the plain.
35 ULB ስለዚህ አሞራውያን በሔሬስ ተራራ፣ በኤሎን፣ በሸዓልቢምም ኖሩ፣ ነገር ግን የዮሴፍ ቤት ወታደራዊ ኃይል በእነርሱ ላይ በረቱባቸው፣ ከዚህ የተነሳ ከባድ የጉልበት ስራ እየሰሩ BSB BSB: And the Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, Aijalon, and Shaalbim. But when the house of Joseph grew in strength, they pressed the Amorites into forced labor.
36 ULB የአሞራውያንም ድንበር በሴላ ካለው ከአቅረቢም ኮረብታ ጀምሮ እስከ ኮረብታማው አገር ድረስ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: And the border of the Amorites extended from the Ascent of Akrabbim to Sela and beyond.
