1 ULB ወደ ኤፍሬም ሰዎችም ጥሪ ደረሰ፤ በጻፎን በኩል ተሻግረው ዮፍታሔን፣ “ከአሞን ሕዝብ ጋር ለመዋጋት ስታልፍ ከአንተ ጋር እንድንሄድ ያልጠራኸን ለምድን ነው? ቤትህን በአንተ ላይ እናቃጥለዋለን” አሉት፡፡ BSB BSB: Then the men of Ephraim assembled and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why have you crossed over to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down with you inside!”
2 ULB ዮፍታሔም እንዲህ አላቸው፣ “እኔና ሕዝቤ ከአሞን ሕዝብ ጋር በታላቅ ጦርነት ውስጥ ነበርን፡፡ በጠራኋችሁም ጊዜ ከእነርሱ አላዳናችሁኝም፡፡ BSB BSB: But Jephthah replied, “My people and I had a serious conflict with the Ammonites, and when I called, you did not save me out of their hands.
3 ULB እናንተም እንዳላዳናችሁኝ ባየሁ ጊዜ፣ ሕይወቴን በራሴ ብርታት አስቀምጬ በአሞን ሕዝብ ላይ ለመዋጋት አለፍሁ፣ እግዚአብሔርም በእነርሱ ላይ ድል ሰጠኝ፡፡ ዛሬ እኔን ለመውጋት ለምን መጣችሁ? BSB BSB: When I saw that you would not save me, I risked my life and crossed over to the Ammonites, and the LORD delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come today to fight against me?”
4 ULB ዮፍታሔም የገለዓድን ሰዎች ሁሉ ሰበሰበና ከኤፍሬምም ጋር ተዋጋ፡፡ የገለዓድም ሰዎች የኤፍሬምን ሰዎች ወጓቸው ምክንቱም፣ “እናንተ ገለዓዳውያን በኤፍሬም ውስጥ ሸሽታችሁ የተጠጋችሁ፣ በኤፍሬምና በምናሴ ውስጥ ጥገኞች የሆናችሁ ናችሁ” ይሏቸው ነበርና፡፡ BSB BSB: Jephthah then gathered all the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are fugitives in Ephraim, living in the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh.”
5 ULB ገለዓዳውያንም ወደ ኤፍሬም የሚወስደውን የዮርዳኖስን መሻገሪያ ያዙባቸው፡፡ አምልጦ የሚሸሽ የኤፍሬም ሰው፣ “ወንዙን ተሻግሬ ልለፍ” ባለ ጊዜ፣ የገለዓድ ሰዎች ደግሞ እንዲህ ይሉታል፣ “አንተ ኤፍሬማዊ ነህን?” እርሱም፣ “አይደለሁም” ቢል፣ BSB BSB: The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan leading to Ephraim, and whenever a fugitive from Ephraim would say, “Let me cross over,” the Gileadites would ask him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he answered, “No,”
6 ULB እነርሱም “ሺቦሌት በል” ይሉታል፡፡ እርሱም “ሲቦሌት” ብሎ ከተናገረ (ምክንያቱም እርሱ ቃሉን አጥርቶ መናገር አይችልምና)፣ ገለዓዳውያን እርሱን ይዘው በዮርዳኖስ መሻገሪያ ላይ ይገድሉታል፡፡ በዚያም ጊዜ አርባ ሁለት ሺህ ኤፍሬማውያን ተገደሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: they told him, “Please say Shibboleth.” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce it correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. 7 ULB ዮፍታሔም በእስራኤል ላይ ለስድስት ዓመት እንደ ፈራጅ አገለገለ፡፡ ከዚያም ገለዓዳዊውም ዮፍታሔ ሞተ፣ ከገለዓድ ከተሞችም በአንዱ ተቀበረ። BSB BSB: Jephthah judged Israel six years, and when he died, he was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
8 ULB ከእርሱም በኋላ የቤተ ልሔሙ ኢብጻን በእስራኤል ላይ እንደ ፈራጅ አገለገለ፡፡ BSB BSB: After Jephthah, Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
9 ULB እርሱም ሠላሳ ወንዶች ልጆች ነበሩት፡፡ ሠላሳ ሴቶች ልጆችንም ወደ ውጭ በትዳር ለሌሎች ሰጠ፣ ሠላሳ ሴቶች ልጆችን ደግሞ ከሌሎች ሰዎች በትዳር ለወንድ ልጆቹ አመጣ። በእስራኤልም ላይ ለሰባት ዓመት ፈረደ። BSB BSB: He had thirty sons, as well as thirty daughters whom he gave in marriage to men outside his clan; and for his sons he brought back thirty wives from elsewhere. Ibzan judged Israel seven years.
10 ULB ኢብጻንም ሞተ፣ በቤተ ልሔምም ተቀበረ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Ibzan died, and he was buried in Bethlehem.
11 ULB ከእርሱም በኋላ ዛብሎናዊው ኤሎም በእስራኤል ላይ እንደ ፈራጅ አገለገለ፡፡ እርሱም በእስራኤል ላይ ለአሥር ዓመት ፈረደ፡፡ BSB BSB: After Ibzan, Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel ten years.
12 ULB ዛብሎናዊውም ኤሎም ሞተ፣ በዛብሎንም ምድር ባለችው በኤሎም ተቀበረ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Elon the Zebulunite died, and he was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13 ULB ከእርሱም በኋላ የጲርዓቶናዊው የሂሌል ልጅ ዓብዶን በእስራኤል ላይ እንደ ፈራጅ አገለገለ፡፡ BSB BSB: After Elon, Abdon son of Hillel, from Pirathon, judged Israel.
14 ULB እርሱም አርባ ወንዶች ልጆችና ሠላሳ ወንዶች የልጅ ልጆች ነበሩት፡፡ በሰባ አህያዎች ላይ ይጋልቡ ነበር፣ እርሱም በእስራኤል ላይ ለስምንት ዓመት ፈረደ፡፡ BSB BSB: He had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys. And he judged Israel eight years.
15 ULB የጲርዓቶናዊውም የሂሌል ልጅ ዓብዶን ሞተ፣ በተራራማውም በአማሌቃውያን አገር በኮረብታማው በኤፍሬም አገር ውስጥ ባለችው በጲርዓቶን ውስጥ ተቀበረ፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Abdon son of Hillel, from Pirathon, died, and he was buried at Pirathon in Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
