1 ULB እንዲህም ሆነ፣ ኢየሱስ አሥራ ሁለቱን ደቀ መዛሙርት አዝዞ ከጨረሰ በኋላ፣ በከተሞቻቸው ሊያስተምርና ሊሰብክ ከዚያ ሄደ፡፡ BSB BSB: After Jesus had finished instructing His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.
3 ULB እንዲህም አለው፣ "የሚመጣው አንተ ነህ፣ ወይስ መጠበቅ ያለብን ሌላ ሰው አለ?" BSB BSB: to ask Him, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”
4 ULB ኢየሱስም መለሰ እንዲህም አላቸው፤ “ሂዱና፣ ለዮሐንስ የምታዩትንና የምትሰሙትን እንዲህ ብላችሁ ንገሩት፤ BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see:
5 ULB ዕውሮች ብርሃናቸውን እያገኙ፣ አንካሶች እየተራመዱ፣ ለምጻሞች እየነጹ፣ መስማት የተሳናቸው እየሰሙ፣ ሙታን እየተነሡ፣ ድኾችም የምሥራች እየሰሙ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
6 ULB በማንኛውም ሁኔታ በእኔ የማይሰናከል ሁሉ የተባረከ ነው"። BSB BSB: Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.”
7 ULB እነዚህ ሰዎች እንደ ሄዱ፣ ኢየሱስ ለሕዝቡ ስለ ዮሐንስ መናገር ጀመረ፣ እንዲህም አለ፣ "ምን ልታዩ ወደ በረሓ ወጣችሁ? ነፋስ የሚያወዛውዘውን ሸምበቆን? BSB BSB: As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?
8 ULB ግን ምን ልታዩ ወጣችሁ? የሚያምር ልብስ የለበሰውን? በርግጥ፣ ጥሩ ልብስ የሚለብሱ የሚኖሩት በቤተ መንግሥት ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.
9 ULB ግን ምን ልታዩ ወጣችሁ? ነቢይን ነውን? አዎ፣ እላችኋለሁ፣ ከነቢይም የሚበልጠውን ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
10 ULB እንዲህ ተብሎ የተጻፈው ስለ እርሱ ነው፦ 'መንገድህን የሚያዘጋጅ መልእከተኛዬን በፊትህ እልካለሁ፡፡' BSB BSB: This is the one about whom it is written: ‘Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.’
11 ULB እውነት እላችኋለሁ፣ ከሴቶች ከተወለዱት መካከል ከዮሐንስ የሚበልጥ ማንም የለም። በመንግሥተ ሰማይ ግን፣ ታናሹ ሰው ከእርሱ ይበልጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 ULB ከመጥምቁ ዮሐንስ ዘመን ጀምሮ እስከ ዛሬ፣ የእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት በዐመፅ ትቸገራለች፣ ዐመጸፀኞች ግን በኅይል ይወስዷታል፡፡ BSB BSB: From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subject to violence, and the violent lay claim to it.
13 ULB እስከ ዮሐንስ ዘመን ድረስ ሕጉም፣ ነቢያቱም ሁሉ ትንቢት ሲናገሩ ነበርና፡፡ BSB BSB: For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.
15 ULB የሚሰማ ጆሮ ያለው፣ ይስማ። BSB BSB: He who has ears, let him hear.
16 ULB ይህን ትውልድ ከምን ጋር ላነጻጽረው? በገበያ ተቀምጠው፣ እየተቀባበሉ እንደሚዘፍኑ ልጆች ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17 ULB 'ዋሽንት ነፋንላችሁ፣ አልጨፈራችሁም፤ ሙሾ አወጣንላችሁ እናንተም አላለቀሳችሁም' ይላሉ። BSB BSB: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’
18 ULB ዮሐንስ እንጀራ ሳይበላና የወይን ጠጅ ሳይጠጣ በመምጣቱ፣'ጋኔን አለበት' አሉት። BSB BSB: For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’
19 ULB የሰው ልጅ እየበላና እየጠጣ በመምጣቱ፣ 'ተመልከቱ ይህ ሰው በላተኛና ጠጪ፣ የቀረጥ ሰብሳቢዎችና፣ የኃጢአተኞች ወዳጅ ነው!' አሉት ነገር ግን ጥበብ በሥራዋ ትክክል ሆነች፡፡ BSB BSB: The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is vindicated by her actions.”
20 ULB ኢየሱስም ብዙ ታላላቅ ሥራዎች ያደረገባቸውን ከተማዎች፣ ንስሓ ባለመግባታቸው ይገሥጻቸው ጀመር፡፡ BSB BSB: Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.
22 ULB ነገር ግን በፍርድ ቀን ከእናንተ ይልቅ፣ ለጢሮስና ለሲዶና ይቀልላቸዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
23 ULB አንቺ ቅፍርናሆም፣ እስከ ሰማይ የወጣሽ ይመስልሻልን? በፍጹም፤ ወደ ሲኦል ትወርጂያለሽ፡፡ ለአንቺ እንደተደረጉት ትልልቅ ነገሮች በሰዶም ተደርገው ቢሆን፣ እስከ አሁን በኖረች ነበር፡፡ BSB BSB: And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.
24 ULB ነገር ግን እላችኋለሁ፣ በፍርድ ቀን፣ ከእናንተ ይልቅ ለሰዶም ይቀልላታል፡፡ BSB BSB: But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”
25 ULB በዚያን ጊዜ ኢየሱስ መለሰ እንዲህም አለ፤ “የሰማይና የምድር ጌታ አባት ሆይ፣ ይህን ከዐዋቂዎችና ከአስተዋዮች ሰውረህ እንደ ሕፃናት ላልተማሩት ስለ ገለጥህላቸው አመሰግንሃለሁ።” BSB BSB: At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
26 ULB አዎ፣ አባት ሆይ፣ በፊትህ እጅግ ደስ የሚያሰኝህ ይህ ሆኖአልና፡፡ BSB BSB: Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.
27 ULB ከአባቴ ሁሉ ተሰጥቶኛል፣ ከአባት በቀር ማንም ልጅን የሚያውቀው የለም፤ ከልጅም በቀር፣ ልጁም ሊገልጥለት ከሚፈልገው በቀር፣ አባትን የሚያውቅ ማንም የለም፡፡ BSB BSB: All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.
28 ULB እናንተ ደካሞች፣ ሸክም የከበዳችሁ ሁሉ ወደ እኔ ኑ፣ እኔም ዕረፍት እሰጣችኋላሁ፡፡ BSB BSB: Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 ULB ቀንበሬን በላያችሁ ተሸከሙ፣ ከእኔም ተማሩ፣ እኔ የዋህና በልቤ ትሁት ነኝ፣ ለነፍሳችሁም ዕረፍት ታገኛላችሁ፡፡ BSB BSB: Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 ULB ቀንበሬ ቀላል፣ ሸክሜም የማይከብድ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
