1 ULB በዚያን ጊዜ፣ የአራተኛው ክፍል ገዢ የነበረው ሄሮድስ ስለ ኢየሱስ ሰማ። BSB BSB: At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus
2 ULB አገልጋዮቹንም፣ "ይህ መጥምቁ ዮሐንስ ነው። ስለዚህ ይህ ሁሉ ኅይል በእርሱ የሚሠራው ከሞት ስለ ተነሣ ነው" አላቸው። BSB BSB: and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
3 ULB ሄሮድስ፣ በወንድሙ በፊልጶስ ሚስት በሄሮድያዳ ምክንያት፣ ይዞ አሳስሮት ነበርና፡፡ BSB BSB: Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,
4 ULB ምክንያቱም ዮሐንስ፣ "እርሷን ማግባትህ ተገቢ አይደለም" ይለው ነበር። BSB BSB: because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
5 ULB ሄሮድስ ሊያስገድለው ፈልጎ፣ ሕዝቡን ፈራ፣ ምክንያቱም ሕዝቡ ዮሐንስን እንደ ነቢይ ያዩት ነበር። BSB BSB: Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.
6 ULB ነገር ግን በሄሮድስ የልደት ቀን፣ የሄሮድያዳ ልጅ በመካከል ስትጨፍር፣ ሄሮድስን ደስ አሰኘችው። BSB BSB: On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod
7 ULB በዚህም ምክንያት፣ የምትጠይቀውን ሁሉ እንደሚሰጣት በመሓላ ቃል ገባላት። BSB BSB: so much that he promised with an oath to give to her whatever she asked.
8 ULB በእናቷም ተመክራ፣ “የመጥምቁ ዮሐንስን ራስ እዚሁ፣ በሳሕን አድርገህ ስጠኝ” አለችው። BSB BSB: Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”
9 ULB ንጉሡ በጥያቄዋ በጣም ዐዘነ፣ ነገር ግን በመሓላውና ከእርሱ ጋር እራት ላይ በነበሩት ምክንያት፣ የተናገረው እንዲፈጸም አዘዘ። BSB BSB: The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted
10 ULB ሰው ልኮ፣ በወህኒ ቤት የዮሐንስን ራስ አስቈረጠ። BSB BSB: and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.
11 ULB ከዚያም ራሱ በሳሕን ተደርጎ ለልጅቱ ተሰጣት፣ እርሷም ለእናቷ ወስዳ ሰጠች። BSB BSB: John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.
12 ULB ከዚያም የእርሱ ደቀ መዛሙርት መጥተው፣ በድኑን ወስደው ቀበሩት። ከዚህ በኋላ ሄደው ለኢየሱስ ነገሩት። BSB BSB: Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.
13 ULB ኢየሱስም ይህን በሰማ ጊዜ፣ በጀልባ ገለል ወዳለ ቦታ ሄደ። ሕዝቡም ይህን በሰሙ ጊዜ፣ ከየከተሞቹ በእግር ተከተሉት። BSB BSB: When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.
14 ULB ከዚያም ኢየሱስ ቀድሞአቸው መጥቶ ብዙ ሕዝብ አየና ራራላቸው፣ ሕመምተኞቻቸውንም ፈወሰ። BSB BSB: When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 ULB በመሸም ጊዜ፣ ደቀ መዛሙርቱ መጡና፣ “ቀኑ መሽቷል ይህም ስፍራ ምድረ በዳ ነው። ሕዝቡን ወደ መንደሮች እንዲሄዱና፣ ለራሳቸው ምግብ እንዲገዙ አሰናብት" አሉት። BSB BSB: When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 ULB ኢየሱስ ግን፣ "መሄድ አያስፈልጋቸውም፤ እናንተው የሚበሉትን ስጧቸው" አላቸው። BSB BSB: “They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”
17 ULB እነርሱም፣“እኛ ያለን አምስት እንጀራና ሁለት ዐሣ ብቻ ነው" አሉት። BSB BSB: “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
18 ULB ኢየሱስም፣ "እነርሱኑ ወደ እኔ አምጡአቸው" አለ። BSB BSB: “Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.
19 ULB ከዚያም ኢየሱስ ሣሩ ላይ እንዲቀምጡ ሕዝቡን አዘዘ። ዐምስቱን እንጀራና ሁለቱን ዐሣ ወሰደ፣ ወደ ሰማይ አሻቅቦ እያየ፣ አመሰገነ፤ እንጀራውንም ቈርሶ፣ ለደቀ መዛሙርቱ ሰጣቸው፤ ደቀ መዛሙርቱም ለሕዝቡ ሰጡ። BSB BSB: And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
20 ULB ሁሉም በልተው ጠገቡ፡፡ ከዚያም የተረፈውን ዐሥራ ሁለት መሶብ ሙሉ ቊርስራሽ ሰበሰቡ። BSB BSB: They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
21 ULB የበሉትም፣ ከሴቶችና ከልጆች ሌላ፣ ዐምስት ሺ ያህል ወንዶች ነበሩ። BSB BSB: About five thousand men were fed, besides women and children.
22 ULB እርሱም ሕዝቡን እያሰናበተ እያለ፣ ደቀ መዛሙርቱን ወዲያው ወደ ጀልባ ገብተው፣ ከእርሱ በፊት ወደ ማዶ እንዲሄዱ አዘዛቸው። BSB BSB: Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.
23 ULB ሕዝቡን ካሰናበተ በኋላ፣ ብቻውን ለመጸለይ ወደ ተራራ ወጣ። በመሸ ጊዜ፣ በዚያ እርሱ ብቻውን ነበር። BSB BSB: After He had dismissed them, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,
24 ULB ጀልባዋ በባሕሩ መካከል እያለች፤ ከተቃራኒ አቅጣጫ ይነፍስ ስለ ነበር፣ በማዕበሉ ክፉኛ ትንገላታ ነበር። BSB BSB: but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 ULB ከምሽቱ በአራተኛው ክፍል፣ ኢየሱስ በባሕሩ ላይ እየተራመደ ወደ እነርሱ እየመጣ ነበር። BSB BSB: During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.
26 ULB ደቀ መዛሙርቱም በባሕር ላይ እየተራመደ ሲያዩት፣ እጅግ ደንግጠው፣ “መንፈስ ነው”ብለው በፍርሀት ጮኹ። BSB BSB: When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 ULB ኢየሱስ ግን ወዲያውኑ፣ “አይዟችሁ! እኔ ነኝ! አትፍሩ” ብሎ ተናገራቸው። BSB BSB: But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
30 ULB ነገር ግን ጴጥሮስ ነፋሱን አይቶ በመፍራት፣ መስጠም በጀመረ ጊዜ፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ አድነኝ” ብሎ ጮኸ። BSB BSB: But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 ULB ኢየሱስም ያኔውኑ እጁን ዘርግቶ ጴጥሮስን ያዘውና፣ “አንተ እምነት የጎደለህ፣ ለምን ትጠራጠራለህ?” አለው። BSB BSB: Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”
32 ULB ከዚያም ኢየሱስና ጴጥሮስ ወደ ጀልባው በገቡ ጊዜ፣ ነፋሱ መንፈሱን አቆመ። BSB BSB: And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.
34 ULB ከተሻገሩም በኋላ፣ ጌንሳሬጥ ወደ ተባለ አገር መጡ። BSB BSB: When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.
35 ULB በዚያም ስፍራ የነበሩ ሰዎች ኢየሱስ መሆኑን ባወቁ ጊዜ፣ በአካባቢው ወዳለ ስፍራ ሁሉ መልእክት ላኩና፣ የታመመውን ሁሉ ወደ እርሱ አመጡ። BSB BSB: And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him
36 ULB የልብሱን ጫፍ ብቻ ለመንካት ለመኑት፣ የነኩትም ሁሉ ተፈወሱ። BSB BSB: and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
