1 ULB የእስራኤል ንጉስ፣ የዳዊት ልጅ የሰለሞን ምሳሌዎች፡፡ BSB BSB: These are the proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel,
2 ULB እነዚህ ምሳሌዎች የተጻፉት ጥበብንና ተግሳጽን፣ አርቆ ለማስተዋል የሚያስችሉ ቃላትን፣ BSB BSB: for gaining wisdom and discipline, for comprehending words of insight,
3 ULB እርማትን በመቀበል ጽድቅ፣ ፍትሕና ሚዛናዊ የሆነ ብያኔን በማድረግ እንድትኖር ለማስተማር ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity.
4 ULB ከዚህ በተጨማሪ እነዚህ ምሳሌዎች የተጻፉት ላልተማሩ ጥበብን፣ ለወጣቶች ደግሞ እውቀትንና ልባምነትን ለመስጠት ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,
5 ULB ጥበበኞች ያድምጡና ትምህርታቸውን ያዳብሩ፣ አስተዋዮች ደግሞ ምሪትን ያግኙበት፣ BSB BSB: let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel
6 ULB ይህ ደግሞ የጠቢባንን ምሳሌዎች፣ አባባሎችና ቃላቶች እንደዚሁም እንቆቅልሾቻቸውን እንዲረዱ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: by understanding the proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 ULB እግዚአብሔርን መፍራት የጥበብ መጀመርያ ነው፣ ሞኞች ግን ጥበብንና ተግሳጽን ይንቃሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
8 ULB ልጄ ሆይ፣ የአባትህን ምክር ስማ፣ የእናትህንም ሕግ አትተው፤ BSB BSB: Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother.
9 ULB ለራስህ የሞገስ አክሊል፣ ለአንገትህ ደግሞ ውበት የሚሰጥ ጌጥ ይሆኑልሃል፡፡ BSB BSB: For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck.
10 ULB ልጄ ሆይ፣ ኃጢአተኞች በኃጢአታቸው እንድትሳተፍ ሊያባብሉህ ቢሞክሩ፣ እሺ አትበላቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them.
11 ULB “ከእኛ ጋር ና፣ ነፍስ ለመግደል ተደብቀን እንጠብቅ፣ ንጹሐን ሰዎችን ያለ ምንም ምክንያት ለማትፋት እንሸምቅበት፡፡ BSB BSB: If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,
12 ULB ሲኦል ጤናማ ሰዎችን እንደሚውጣቸው፣ ወደ ጉድጓድ እንደሚወርዱ፣ እንዲሁ በሕይወት እያሉ እንዋጣቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those descending into the Pit.
13 ULB ሁሉም አይነት ውድ የሆኑ ነገሮች እናገኛለን፤ ከሌሎች ሰዎች በሰረቅናቸው ነገሮች ቤቶቻችንን እንሞላለን፡፡ BSB BSB: We will find all manner of precious goods; we will fill our houses with plunder.
14 ULB ከእኛ ጋር ዕጣህን ጣል፤ ሁላችንም አንድ የጋራ ቦርሳ ይኖረናል፡፡” ቢሉህ፣ BSB BSB: Throw in your lot with us; let us all share one purse”—
15 ULB ልጄ ሆይ፣ ከእነርሱ ጋር በዚያ መንገድ አትሂድ፤ እነርሱ በሚሄዱበት መንገድ እግርህ አይርገጥ፤ BSB BSB: my son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path.
16 ULB እግሮቻቸው ወደ ክፋት ይሮጣሉ፣ ደም ለማፍሰስም ይቸኩላሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood.
17 ULB ወፍ ፊት ለፊት እያየች ወፍን ለመያዝ ወጥመድ መዘርጋት ጥቅም የለውም፡፡ BSB BSB: How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it!
18 ULB እነዚህ ሰዎች ራሳቸውን ለመግደል ተደብቀው ይጠብቃሉ፣ በራሳቸው ላይ ወጥመድን ይዘረጋሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: But they lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives.
19 ULB ፍትሃዊ ባልሆነ መንገድ ሀብትን ያከማቹ ሰዎች መንገዳቸው እንደዚህ ነው፣ ፍትሃዊ ባልሆነ መንገድ የተከማቸ ሃብት የባለቤቱን ሕይወት ያጠፋል፡፡ BSB BSB: Such is the fate of all who are greedy, whose unjust gain takes the lives of its possessors.
20 ULB ጥበብ በጎዳና ላይ ጮኻ ትጣራለች፣ በአደባባይም ድምጿን ከፍ ታደርጋለች፤ BSB BSB: Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square;
21 ULB ጩኸት በበዛባቸው ጎዳናዎች ላይ ትጣራለች፣ በከተማ መግቢያ በሮች ላይ እንዲህ በማለት ትናገራለች፣ BSB BSB: in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech:
22 ULB እናንተ ጥበብ የሌላችሁ አላዋቂነትን የምትወዱት እስከ መቼ ነው? እናንተ ፌዘኞች በፌዝ የምትደሰቱት እስከ መቼ ነው? እናንተ ሞኞች እውቀትን የምትጠሉት እስከ መቼ ነው? BSB BSB: “How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?
23 ULB ለዘለፋየ ትኩረት ስጡ፤ ሃሳቤን ሁሉ ለእናንተ አፈስሳለሁ፤ ቃሎቼን አሳውቃችኋለሁ፡፡ BSB BSB: If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.
24 ULB ጠራኋችሁ፣ እናንተ ግን ለመስማት እምቢ አላችሁ፤ እጄን ለእናንተ ዘረጋሁ፣ ነገር ግን አንድም ሰው ትኩረት አልሰጠውም፡፡ BSB BSB: Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,
25 ULB ነገር ግን እናንተ ተግሳጼን በሙሉ ችላ አላችሁ፣ ለዘለፋየ ደግሞ ትኩረት አልሰጣችሁም፡፡ BSB BSB: because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,
26 ULB እኔ ደግሞ በመከራችሁ እስቃለሁ፣ ሽብር በመጣባችሁ ጊዜ አላግጥባችኋለሁ፣ BSB BSB: in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,
27 ULB አስፈሪ ድንጋጤ እንደ ማዕበል በእናንተ ላይ ሲመጣባችሁ፣ ጥፋት እንደ አውሎ ነፋስ እናንተን ሲጠራርጋችሁ፣ ጭንቅና ችግር በእናንተ ላይ በመጣ ጊዜ፡፡ BSB BSB: when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.
28 ULB በዚያን ጊዜ ይጠሩኛል፣ እኔም አልመልስላቸውም፤ አጥብቀው ይፈልጉኛል፣ ነገር ግን አያገኙኝም፡፡ BSB BSB: Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.
29 ULB እውቀትን ስለ ጠሉ፣ እግዚአብሔርን መፍራት ስላልመረጡ፣ BSB BSB: For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.
30 ULB ምክሬን አልተከተሉምና፣ ዘለፋየንም ሁሉ ናቁ፡፡ BSB BSB: They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.
31 ULB የመንገዳቸውን ፍሬ ይበላሉ፣ በእቅዳቸው ፍሬ ይጠግባሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 ULB እነዚህ ያልተማሩ ሰዎች ከእውቀት መራቃቸው ይገድላቸዋል፣ ሞኞችንም ቸልተኝነታቸው ያጠፋቸዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.
33 ULB ነገር ግን የሚያደምጠኝ ሁሉ በሰላም ይኖራል፣ ከመከራም ስጋት ያርፋል፡፡ BSB BSB: But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”
