1 ULB ወይን ጠጅ ፌዘኛ፣ ብርቱ መጠጥም ጠበኛ ያደርጋል፤ በመጠጥ የሳተ ሁሉ ጠቢብ አይደለም፡፡ BSB BSB: Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2 ULB የንጉስ ቁጣ እንደሚያገሳ ደቦል አንበሳ ቁጣ ነው፤ የሚያስቆጣውም ሰው ሕይወቱን ይከፍላል፡፡ BSB BSB: The terror of a king is like the roar of a lion; whoever provokes him forfeits his own life.
3 ULB ጥልን መራቅ ለማንም ሰው ቢሆን ክብር ነው፣ ሞኝ ሰው ግን ወደ ጭቅጭቅ ይገባል፡፡ BSB BSB: It is honorable for a man to resolve a dispute, but any fool will quarrel.
4 ULB ሰነፍ ሰው በመከር ወቅት አያርስም፤ በምርት ጊዜ እህል ይለምናል ነገር ግን ምንም አያገኝም፡፡ BSB BSB: The slacker does not plow in season; at harvest time he looks, but nothing is there.
5 ULB በሰው ልብ ውስጥ ያለ አሳብ እንደ ጥልቅ ውሃ ነው፣ አስተዋይ ሰው ግን ከዚያ ቀድቶ ያወጣዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: The intentions of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
6 ULB ብዙ ሰው ታማኝ እንደሆነ ይናገራል፣ ታማኝ የሆነውን ግን ማን ሊያገኘው ይችላል? BSB BSB: Many a man proclaims his loving devotion, but who can find a trustworthy man?
7 ULB ጽድቅን የሚያደርግ ሰው በሐቀኝነቱ ይራመዳል፣ ፍለጋውን የሚከተሉ ልጆቹም ደስተኞች ናቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: The righteous man walks with integrity; blessed are his children after him.
8 ULB የዳኛን ተግባር በማከናወን በዙፋኑ ላይ የተቀመጠ ንጉስ በፊቱ ያለውን ክፋት ሁሉ በዓይኖቹ አበጥሮ ይለያል፡፡ BSB BSB: A king who sits on a throne to judge sifts out all evil with his eyes.
9 ULB “ልቤን በንጽህና ጠብቄያለሁ፤ ከኃጢአቴ ንጹህ ነኝ” ብሎ መናገር የሚችል ማን ነው? BSB BSB: Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am cleansed from my sin”?
10 ULB 1የተለያዩ ሚዛኖችና እኩል ያልሆኑ መስፈሪያዎች፣ ሁለቱንም እግዚአብሔር ይጠላቸዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: Differing weights and unequal measures—both are detestable to the LORD.
11 ULB ወጣት እንኳ ባህርዩ ንጹህና ቅን መሆኑ በስራው ይታወቃል፡፡ BSB BSB: Even a young man is known by his actions—whether his conduct is pure and upright.
12 ULB የሚሰሙ ጆሮዎችና የሚያዩ ዓይኖች፣ ሁለቱንም እግዚአብሔር ሰራቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Ears that hear and eyes that see—the LORD has made them both.
13 ULB እንቅልፍን አትውደድ ወደ ድህነት ትመጣለህና፤ ዓይኖችህን ክፈት፣ የተትረፈረፈ መብል ይኖርሃል፡፡ BSB BSB: Do not love sleep, or you will grow poor; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of food.
14 ULB ዕቃ የሚገዛ ሰው “መጥፎ ነው! መጥፎ ነው!” ይላል፣ በሄደ ጊዜ ግን ይኩራራል፡፡ BSB BSB: “Worthless, worthless!” says the buyer, but on the way out, he gloats.
15 ULB ወርቅና ብዙ ውድ ድንጋዮች አሉ፣ የእውቀት ከንፈሮች ግን የከበረ ጌጥ ናቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: There is an abundance of gold and rubies, but lips of knowledge are a rare treasure.
16 ULB ለማይታወቅ ሰው ብድር በዋስትና ገንዘብ ያስያዘውን ሰው ልብስ ውሰድበት፣ ዝሙት ለምትፈጽም ሴት ዋስትና አስይዞ ከሆነ ውሰድበት፡፡ BSB BSB: Take the garment of the one who posts security for a stranger; get collateral if it is for a foreigner.
17 ULB በማጭበርበር የተገኘ ዳቦ ይጣፍጣል፣ ከዚያ በኋላ ግን አፉ ጠጠር ይሞላል፡፡ BSB BSB: Food gained by fraud is sweet to a man, but later his mouth is full of gravel.
18 ULB እቅዶች በምክር ይጸናሉ፣ በጠቢብ ምክርም ብቻ ጦርነት አድርግ፡፡ BSB BSB: Set plans by consultation, and wage war under sound guidance.
19 ULB ሐሜት ሚስጥርን ያባክናል፣ ስለዚህ ወሬን ከሚያበዙ ሰዎች ጋር አንድነት አትፍጠር፡፡ BSB BSB: He who reveals secrets is a constant gossip; avoid the one who babbles with his lips.
20 ULB አንድ ሰው አባቱን ወይም እናቱን ከሰደበ፣ መብራቱ በድቅድቅ ጨለማ መካከል ይጠፋል፡፡ BSB BSB: Whoever curses his father or mother, his lamp will be extinguished in deepest darkness.
21 ULB በመጀመርያ በጥድፊያ የተገኘ ሀብት በመጨረሻ ላይ በረከት አይኖረውም፡፡ BSB BSB: An inheritance gained quickly will not be blessed in the end.
22 ULB “ለፈጸምክብኝ በደል ብድራትህን እመልስልሃለሁ” አትበል! እግዚአብሔርን ጠብቅ እርሱም ያድንሃል፡፡ BSB BSB: Do not say, “I will avenge this evil!” Wait on the LORD, and He will save you.
23 ULB እኩል ያልሆኑ ሚዛኖችን እግዚአብሔር ይጠላል፣ ሐሰተኛ መስፈሪያም መልካም አይደለም፡፡ BSB BSB: Unequal weights are detestable to the LORD, and dishonest scales are no good.
24 ULB የሰው አካሄድ በእግዚአብሔር ይመራል፤ ታዲያ ሰው የራሱን መንገድ እንዴት ሊያስተውል ይችላል? BSB BSB: A man’s steps are from the LORD, so how can anyone understand his own way?
25 ULB ሰው በችኮላ “ይህ ነገር የተቀደሰ ነው” ቢሎ ስእለት ቢሳል፣ ከተሳለም በኋላ ስለ ነገሩ ምንነት ማሰላሰል ቢጀምርና ቢጸጸት ወጥመድ ይሆንበታል፡፡ BSB BSB: It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly, only later to reconsider his vows.
26 ULB ጥበበኛ ንጉስ ክፉውን አበጥሮ ያወጣል፣ ከዚያም የመውቂያ ጋሪውን በላያቸው ላይ ይነዳል፡፡ BSB BSB: A wise king separates out the wicked and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 ULB የሰው መንፈስ የእግዚአብሔር መብራት ነው፣ ውስጣዊ ማንነቱንም ይመረምራል፡፡ BSB BSB: The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching out his inmost being.
28 ULB በኪዳን የተመሰረተ ታማኝነትና እውነተኛነት ንጉስን ይጠብቁታል፤ ዙፋኑም በፍቅር ይጸናል፡፡ BSB BSB: Loving devotion and faithfulness preserve a king; by these he maintains his throne.
29 ULB የወጣት ወንዶች ክብር ጥንካሬያቸው ነው፣ የሽማግሌዎችም ውበት ሽበታቸው ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: The glory of young men is their strength, and gray hair is the splendor of the old.
30 ULB የሚያቆስል ምት ክፋትን ያስወግዳል፣ ግርፋትም ውስጣዊ የሰውነት ክፍሎችን ያነጻል፡፡ BSB BSB: Lashes and wounds scour evil, and beatings cleanse the inmost parts.
