1 ARST I tell myself that I should praise Yahweh. I will praise him because he is holy. BSB BSB: Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 ARST I tell myself that I should praise Yahweh and never forget all the kind things he has done for me. BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds—
3 ARST He forgives all my sins, and he heals me from all my diseases; BSB BSB: He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases,
4 ARST he keeps me from dying, and he blesses me by faithfully loving me and acting mercifully to me as he promised to do. BSB BSB: who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,
5 ARST He gives me good things during my entire life. He makes me feel young and strong like eagles. BSB BSB: who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 ARST Yahweh judges justly all those who have been treated unfairly. BSB BSB: The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
7 ARST Long ago he revealed to Moses what he planned to do; he showed to the ancestors of us Israelites the mighty things that he was able to do. BSB BSB: He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel.
8 ARST Yahweh acts mercifully and kindly; he does not quickly get angry when we sin; he is always showing us that he faithfully loves us. BSB BSB: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion.
9 ARST He will not keep rebuking us, and he will not remain angry forever. BSB BSB: He will not always accuse us, nor harbor His anger forever.
10 ARST He has not punished us for our sins as we deserved. BSB BSB: He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities.
11 ARST The skies are very high above the earth, and Yahweh’ s faithful love for all those who revere him is just as great. BSB BSB: For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving devotion for those who fear Him.
12 ARST He has taken away the guilt for our sins and put it as far from us as the east is from the west. BSB BSB: As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 ARST Just as parents act mercifully toward their children, Yahweh is kind to those who revere him. BSB BSB: As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
14 ARST He knows what our bodies are like; he remembers that he created us from dust and that we therefore quickly fail to do what pleases him. BSB BSB: For He knows our frame; He is mindful that we are dust.
15 ARST We humans do not live forever; we are like grass which withers and dies. We are like wild flowers that bloom for a short while; BSB BSB: As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field;
16 ARST but then the hot wind blows over them, and they disappear; no one sees them again. BSB BSB: when the wind passes over, it vanishes, and its place remembers it no more.
17 ARST But Yahweh will faithfully keep loving forever all those who revere him, as he promised. He will act fairly to our children and to their children; BSB BSB: But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children—
18 ARST he will act that way to all those who obey the covenant he made with them to bless them if they did what he told them to do, to all those who obey what he has commanded. BSB BSB: to those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.
19 ARST Yahweh has taken his seat in the heavens where he rules as king; from there he rules over everything. BSB BSB: The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.
20 ARST You angels who belong to Yahweh, praise him! You are powerful creatures who do what he tells you to do; you obey what he commands. BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.
21 ARST Praise Yahweh, you armies of angels who serve him and do what he desires. BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His hosts, you servants who do His will.
22 ARST All you things that Yahweh has created, praise him; praise him in every place where he rules, everywhere! I also will praise Yahweh! BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
