1 GLT أَنَا هُوَ ٱلرَّجُلُ ٱلَّذِي رأَى مَذَلَّةً بِقَضِيبِ سَخَطِهِ. BSB BSB: I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of God’s wrath.
2 GLT قَادَنِي وَسَيَّرَنِي فِي ٱلظَّلَامِ وَلَا نُورَ. BSB BSB: He has driven me away and made me walk in darkness instead of light.
3 GLT حَقًّا إِنَّهُ يَعُودُ وَيَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ يَدَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ كُلَّهُ. BSB BSB: Indeed, He keeps turning His hand against me all day long.
4 GLT أَبْلَى لَحْمِي وَجِلْدِي. كَسَّرَ عِظَامِي. BSB BSB: He has worn away my flesh and skin; He has shattered my bones.
5 GLT بَنَى عَلَيَّ وَأَحَاطَنِي بِعَلْقَمٍ وَمَشَقَّةٍ. BSB BSB: He has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship.
6 GLT أَسْكَنَنِي فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ كَمَوْتَى ٱلْقِدَمِ. BSB BSB: He has made me dwell in darkness like those dead for ages.
7 GLT سَيَّجَ عَلَيَّ فَلَا أَسْتَطِيعُ ٱلْخُرُوجَ. ثَقَّلَ سِلْسِلَتِي. BSB BSB: He has walled me in so I cannot escape; He has weighed me down with chains.
8 GLT أَيْضًا حِينَ أَصْرُخُ وَأَسْتَغِيثُ يَصُدُّ صَلَاتِي. BSB BSB: Even when I cry out and plead for help, He shuts out my prayer.
9 GLT سَيَّجَ طُرُقِي بِحِجَارَةٍ مَنْحُوتَةٍ. قَلَبَ سُبُلِي. BSB BSB: He has barred my ways with cut stones; He has made my paths crooked.
10 GLT هُوَ لِي دُبٌّ كَامِنٌ، أَسَدٌ فِي مَخَابِىءَ. BSB BSB: He is a bear lying in wait, a lion hiding in ambush.
11 GLT مَيَّلَ طُرُقِي وَمَزَّقَنِي. جَعَلَنِي خَرَابًا. BSB BSB: He forced me off my path and tore me to pieces; He left me without help.
12 GLT مَدَّ قَوْسَهُ وَنَصَبَنِي كَغَرَضٍ لِلسَّهْمِ. BSB BSB: He bent His bow and set me as the target for His arrow.
13 GLT أَدْخَلَ فِي كُلْيَتَيَّ نِبَالَ جُعْبَتِهِ. BSB BSB: He pierced my kidneys with His arrows.
14 GLT صِرْتُ ضُحْكَةً لِكُلِّ شَعْبِي، وَأُغْنِيَةً لَهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ كُلَّهُ. BSB BSB: I am a laughingstock to all my people; they mock me in song all day long.
15 GLT أَشْبَعَنِي مَرَائِرَ وَأَرْوَانِي أَفْسَنْتِينًا، BSB BSB: He has filled me with bitterness; He has intoxicated me with wormwood.
16 GLT وَجَرَشَ بِٱلْحَصَى أَسْنَانِي. كَبَسَنِي بِٱلرَّمَادِ. BSB BSB: He has ground my teeth with gravel and trampled me in the dust.
17 GLT وَقَدْ أَبْعَدْتَ عَنِ ٱلسَّلَامِ نَفْسِي. نَسِيتُ ٱلْخَيْرَ. BSB BSB: My soul has been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is.
18 GLT وَقُلْتُ: «بَادَتْ ثِقَتِي وَرَجَائِي مِنَ ٱلرَّبِّ». BSB BSB: So I say, “My strength has perished, along with my hope from the LORD.”
19 GLT ذِكْرُ مَذَلَّتِي وَتَيَهَانِي أَفْسَنْتِينٌ وَعَلْقَمٌ. BSB BSB: Remember my affliction and wandering, the wormwood and the gall.
20 GLT ذِكْرًا تَذْكُرُ نَفْسِي وَتَنْحَنِي فِيَّ. BSB BSB: Surely my soul remembers and is humbled within me.
21 GLT أُرَدِّدُ هَذَا فِي قَلْبِي، مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ أَرْجُو: BSB BSB: Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope:
23 GLT هِيَ جَدِيدَةٌ فِي كُلِّ صَبَاحٍ. كَثِيرَةٌ أَمَانَتُكَ. BSB BSB: They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
24 GLT نَصِيبِي هُوَ ٱلرَّبُّ، قَالَتْ نَفْسِي، مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ أَرْجُوهُ. BSB BSB: “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”
25 GLT طَيِّبٌ هُوَ ٱلرَّبُّ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَرَجَّوْنَهُ، لِلنَّفْسِ ٱلَّتِي تَطْلُبُهُ. BSB BSB: The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.
26 GLT جَيِّدٌ أَنْ يَنْتَظِرَ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ وَيَتَوَقَّعَ بِسُكُوتٍ خَلَاصَ ٱلرَّبِّ. BSB BSB: It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
27 GLT جَيِّدٌ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ ٱلنِّيرَ فِي صِبَاهُ. BSB BSB: It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.
28 GLT يَجْلِسُ وَحْدَهُ وَيَسْكُتُ، لِأَنَّهُ قَدْ وَضَعَهُ عَلَيْهِ. BSB BSB: Let him sit alone in silence, for the LORD has laid it upon him.
29 GLT يَجْعَلُ فِي ٱلتُّرَابِ فَمَهُ لَعَلَّهُ يُوجَدُ رَجَاءٌ. BSB BSB: Let him bury his face in the dust—perhaps there is still hope.
30 GLT يُعْطِي خَدَّهُ لِضَارِبِهِ. يَشْبَعُ عَارًا. BSB BSB: Let him offer his cheek to the one who would strike him; let him be filled with reproach.
31 GLT لِأَنَّ ٱلسَّيِّدَ لَا يَرْفُضُ إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ. BSB BSB: For the Lord will not cast us off forever.
32 GLT فَإِنَّهُ وَلَوْ أَحْزَنَ يَرْحَمُ حَسَبَ كَثْرَةِ مَرَاحِمِهِ. BSB BSB: Even if He causes grief, He will show compassion according to His abundant loving devotion.
33 GLT لِأَنَّهُ لَا يُذِلُّ مِنْ قَلْبِهِ، وَلَا يُحْزِنُ بَنِي ٱلْإِنْسَانِ. BSB BSB: For He does not willingly afflict or grieve the sons of men.
34 GLT أَنْ يَدُوسَ أَحَدٌ تَحْتَ رِجْلَيْهِ كُلَّ أَسْرَى ٱلْأَرْضِ، BSB BSB: To crush underfoot all the prisoners of the land,
35 GLT أَنْ يُحَرِّفَ حَقَّ ٱلرَّجُلِ أَمَامَ وَجْهِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ، BSB BSB: to deny a man justice before the Most High,
36 GLT أَنْ يَقْلِبَ ٱلْإِنْسَانَ فِي دَعْوَاهُ. ٱلسَّيِّدُ لَا يَرَى! BSB BSB: to subvert a man in his lawsuit—of these the Lord does not approve.
37 GLT مَنْ ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَقُولُ فَيَكُونَ وَٱلرَّبُّ لَمْ يَأْمُرْ؟ BSB BSB: Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has ordained it?
38 GLT مِنْ فَمِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ أَلَا تَخْرُجُ ٱلشُّرُورُ وَٱلْخَيْرُ؟ BSB BSB: Do not both adversity and good come from the mouth of the Most High?
39 GLT لِمَاذَا يَشْتَكِي ٱلْإِنْسَانُ ٱلْحَيُّ، ٱلرَّجُلُ مِنْ قِصَاصِ خَطَايَاهُ؟ BSB BSB: Why should any mortal man complain, in view of his sins?
40 GLT لِنَفْحَصْ طُرُقَنَا وَنَمْتَحِنْهَا وَنَرْجِعْ إِلَى ٱلرَّبِّ. BSB BSB: Let us examine and test our ways, and turn back to the LORD.
41 GLT لِنَرْفَعْ قُلُوبَنَا وَأَيْدِيَنَا إِلَى ٱللهِ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ: BSB BSB: Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven:
42 GLT «نَحْنُ أَذْنَبْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا. أَنْتَ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ. BSB BSB: “We have sinned and rebelled; You have not forgiven.”
43 GLT ٱلْتَحَفْتَ بِٱلْغَضَبِ وَطَرَدْتَنَا. قَتَلْتَ وَلَمْ تَشْفِقْ. BSB BSB: You have covered Yourself in anger and pursued us; You have killed without pity.
44 GLT ٱلْتَحَفْتَ بِٱلسَّحَابِ حَتَّى لَا تَنْفُذَ ٱلصَّلَاةُ. BSB BSB: You have covered Yourself with a cloud that no prayer can pass through.
45 GLT جَعَلْتَنَا وَسَخًا وَكَرْهًا فِي وَسَطِ ٱلشُّعُوبِ. BSB BSB: You have made us scum and refuse among the nations.
46 GLT فَتَحَ كُلُّ أَعْدَائِنَا أَفْوَاهَهُمْ عَلَيْنَا. BSB BSB: All our enemies open their mouths against us.
47 GLT صَارَ عَلَيْنَا خَوْفٌ وَرُعْبٌ، هَلَاكٌ وَسَحْقٌ». BSB BSB: Panic and pitfall have come upon us—devastation and destruction.
48 GLT سَكَبَتْ عَيْنَايَ يَنَابِيعَ مَاءٍ عَلَى سَحْقِ بِنْتِ شَعْبِي. BSB BSB: Streams of tears flow from my eyes over the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 GLT عَيْنِي تَسْكُبُ وَلَا تَكُفُّ بِلَا ٱنْقِطَاعٍ BSB BSB: My eyes overflow unceasingly, without relief,
50 GLT حَتَّى يُشْرِفَ وَيَنْظُرَ ٱلرَّبُّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاءِ. BSB BSB: until the LORD looks down from heaven and sees.
51 GLT عَيْنِي تُؤَثِّرُ فِي نَفْسِي لِأَجْلِ كُلِّ بَنَاتِ مَدِينَتِي. BSB BSB: My eyes bring grief to my soul because of all the daughters of my city.
52 GLT قَدِ ٱصْطَادَتْنِي أَعْدَائِي كَعُصْفُورٍ بِلَا سَبَبٍ. BSB BSB: Without cause my enemies hunted me like a bird.
53 GLT قَرَضُوا فِي ٱلْجُبِّ حَيَاتِي وَأَلْقَوْا عَلَيَّ حِجَارَةً. BSB BSB: They dropped me alive into a pit and cast stones upon me.
54 GLT طَفَتِ ٱلْمِيَاهُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِي. قُلْتُ: «قَدْ قُرِضْتُ!». BSB BSB: The waters flowed over my head, and I thought I was going to die.
55 GLT دَعَوْتُ بِٱسْمِكَ يَا رَبُّ مِنَ ٱلْجُبِّ ٱلْأَسْفَلِ. BSB BSB: I called on Your name, O LORD, out of the depths of the Pit.
56 GLT لِصَوْتِي سَمِعْتَ: «لَا تَسْتُرْ أُذُنَكَ عَنْ زَفْرَتِي، عَنْ صِيَاحِي». BSB BSB: You heard my plea: “Do not ignore my cry for relief.”
57 GLT دَنَوْتَ يَوْمَ دَعَوْتُكَ. قُلْتَ: «لَا تَخَفْ!». BSB BSB: You drew near when I called on You; You said, “Do not be afraid.”
58 GLT خَاصَمْتَ يَا سَيِّدُ خُصُومَاتِ نَفْسِي. فَكَكْتَ حَيَاتِي. BSB BSB: You defend my cause, O Lord; You redeem my life.
59 GLT رَأَيْتَ يَا رَبُّ ظُلْمِي. أَقِمْ دَعْوَايَ. BSB BSB: You have seen, O LORD, the wrong done to me; vindicate my cause!
60 GLT رَأَيْتَ كُلَّ نَقْمَتِهِمْ، كُلَّ أَفْكَارِهِمْ عَلَيَّ. BSB BSB: You have seen all their malice, all their plots against me.
61 GLT سَمِعْتَ تَعْيِيرَهُمْ يَا رَبُّ، كُلَّ أَفْكَارِهِمْ عَلَيَّ. BSB BSB: O LORD, You have heard their insults, all their plots against me—
62 GLT كَلَامُ مُقَاوِمِيَّ وَمُؤَامَرَتُهُمْ عَلَيَّ ٱلْيَوْمَ كُلَّهُ. BSB BSB: the slander and murmuring of my assailants against me all day long.
63 GLT اُنْظُرْ إِلَى جُلُوسِهِمْ وَوُقُوفِهِمْ، أَنَا أُغْنِيَتُهُمْ! BSB BSB: When they sit and when they rise, see how they mock me in song.
64 GLT رُدَّ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً يَا رَبُّ حَسَبَ عَمَلِ أَيَادِيهِمْ. BSB BSB: You will pay them back what they deserve, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
65 GLT أَعْطِهِمْ غِشَاوَةَ قَلْبٍ، لَعْنَتَكَ لَهُمْ. BSB BSB: Put a veil of anguish over their hearts; may Your curse be upon them!
66 GLT اِتْبَعْ بِٱلْغَضَبِ وَأَهْلِكْهُمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ سَمَاوَاتِ ٱلرَّبِّ. BSB BSB: You will pursue them in anger and exterminate them from under Your heavens, O LORD.
