1 GLT اَلْجَوَابُ ٱللَّيِّنُ يَصْرِفُ ٱلْغَضَبَ، وَٱلْكَلَامُ ٱلْمُوجِعُ يُهَيِّجُ ٱلسَّخَطَ. BSB BSB: A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 GLT لِسَانُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ يُحَسِّنُ ٱلْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَفَمُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ يُنْبِعُ حَمَاقَةً. BSB BSB: The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool spouts folly.
3 GLT فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ عَيْنَا ٱلرَّبِّ مُرَاقِبَتَانِ ٱلطَّالِحِينَ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ. BSB BSB: The eyes of the LORD are in every place, observing the evil and the good.
4 GLT هُدُوءُ ٱللِّسَانِ شَجَرَةُ حَيَاةٍ، وَٱعْوِجَاجُهُ سَحْقٌ فِي ٱلرُّوحِ. BSB BSB: A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
5 GLT اَلْأَحْمَقُ يَسْتَهِينُ بِتَأْدِيبِ أَبِيهِ، أَمَّا مُرَاعِي ٱلتَّوْبِيخِ فَيَذْكَى. BSB BSB: A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction is prudent.
6 GLT فِي بَيْتِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ كَنْزٌ عَظِيمٌ، وَفِي دَخْلِ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ كَدَرٌ. BSB BSB: The house of the righteous has great treasure, but the income of the wicked is trouble.
7 GLT شِفَاهُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ تَذُرُّ مَعْرِفَةً، أَمَّا قَلْبُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ فَلَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ. BSB BSB: The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but not so the hearts of fools.
8 GLT ذَبِيحَةُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ، وَصَلَاةُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ مَرْضَاتُهُ. BSB BSB: The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
9 GLT مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ طَرِيقُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ، وَتَابِعُ ٱلْبِرِّ يُحِبُّهُ. BSB BSB: The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but He loves those who pursue righteousness.
10 GLT تَأْدِيبُ شَرٍّ لِتَارِكِ ٱلطَّرِيقِ. مُبْغِضُ ٱلتَّوْبِيخِ يَمُوتُ. BSB BSB: Discipline is harsh for him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.
11 GLT اَلْهَاوِيَةُ وَٱلْهَلَاكُ أَمَامَ ٱلرَّبِّ. كَمْ بِٱلْحَرِيِّ قُلُوبُ بَنِي آدَمَ! BSB BSB: Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD—how much more the hearts of men!
12 GLT اَلْمُسْتَهْزِئُ لَا يُحِبُّ مُوَبِّخَهُ. إِلَى ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ لَا يَذْهَبُ. BSB BSB: A mocker does not love to be reproved, nor will he consult the wise.
13 GLT اَلْقَلْبُ ٱلْفَرْحَانُ يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوَجْهَ طَلِقًا، وَبِحُزْنِ ٱلْقَلْبِ تَنْسَحِقُ ٱلرُّوحُ. BSB BSB: A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, but sorrow of the heart crushes the spirit.
14 GLT قَلْبُ ٱلْفَهِيمِ يَطْلُبُ مَعْرِفَةً، وَفَمُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ يَرْعَى حَمَاقَةً. BSB BSB: A discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.
15 GLT كُلُّ أَيَّامِ ٱلْحَزِينِ شَقِيَّةٌ، أَمَّا طَيِّبُ ٱلْقَلْبِ فَوَلِيمَةٌ دَائِمَةٌ. BSB BSB: All the days of the oppressed are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.
16 GLT اَلْقَلِيلُ مَعَ مَخَافَةِ ٱلرَّبِّ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَنْزٍ عَظِيمٍ مَعَ هَمٍّ. BSB BSB: Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure with turmoil.
17 GLT أَكْلَةٌ مِنَ ٱلْبُقُولِ حَيْثُ تَكُونُ ٱلْمَحَبَّةُ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ ثَوْرٍ مَعْلُوفٍ وَمَعَهُ بُغْضَةٌ. BSB BSB: Better a dish of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred.
18 GLT اَلرَّجُلُ ٱلْغَضُوبُ يُهَيِّجُ ٱلْخُصُومَةَ، وَبَطِيءُ ٱلْغَضَبِ يُسَكِّنُ ٱلْخِصَامَ. BSB BSB: A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger calms dispute.
19 GLT طَرِيقُ ٱلْكَسْلَانِ كَسِيَاجٍ مِنْ شَوْكٍ، وَطَرِيقُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ مَنْهَجٌ. BSB BSB: The way of the slacker is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.
20 GLT اَلِٱبْنُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ يَسُرُّ أَبَاهُ، وَٱلرَّجُلُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ يَحْتَقِرُ أُمَّهُ. BSB BSB: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 GLT ٱلْحَمَاقَةُ فَرَحٌ لِنَاقِصِ ٱلْفَهْمِ، أَمَّا ذُو ٱلْفَهْمِ فَيُقَوِّمُ سُلُوكَهُ. BSB BSB: Folly is joy to one who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding walks a straight path.
22 GLT مَقَاصِدُ بِغَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ تَبْطُلُ، وَبِكَثْرَةِ ٱلْمُشِيرِينَ تَقُومُ. BSB BSB: Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
23 GLT لِلْإِنْسَانِ فَرَحٌ بِجَوَابِ فَمِهِ، وَٱلْكَلِمَةُ فِي وَقْتِهَا مَا أَحْسَنَهَا! BSB BSB: A man takes joy in a fitting reply—and how good is a timely word!
24 GLT طَرِيقُ ٱلْحَيَاةِ لِلْفَطِنِ إِلَى فَوْقُ، لِلْحَيَدَانِ عَنِ ٱلْهَاوِيَةِ مِنْ تَحْتُ. BSB BSB: The path of life leads upward for the wise, that he may avoid going down to Sheol.
25 GLT اَلرَّبُّ يَقْلَعُ بَيْتَ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ، وَيُوَطِّدُ تُخْمَ ٱلْأَرْمَلَةِ. BSB BSB: The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but He protects the boundaries of the widow.
26 GLT مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ أَفْكَارُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ، وَلِلْأَطْهَارِ كَلَامٌ حَسَنٌ. BSB BSB: The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the words of the pure are pleasant to Him.
27 GLT اَلْمُولَعُ بِٱلْكَسْبِ يُكَدِّرُ بَيْتَهُ، وَٱلْكَارِهُ ٱلْهَدَايَا يَعِيشُ. BSB BSB: He who is greedy for unjust gain brings trouble on his household, but he who hates bribes will live.
28 GLT قَلْبُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ يَتَفَكَّرُ بِٱلْجَوَابِ، وَفَمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ يُنْبِعُ شُرُورًا. BSB BSB: The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked blurts out evil.
29 GLT اَلرَّبُّ بَعِيدٌ عَنِ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ، وَيَسْمَعُ صَلَاةَ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ. BSB BSB: The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.
30 GLT نُورُ ٱلْعَيْنَيْنِ يُفَرِّحُ ٱلْقَلْبَ. اَلْخَبَرُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ يُسَمِّنُ ٱلْعِظَامَ. BSB BSB: The light of the eyes cheers the heart, and good news nourishes the bones.
31 GLT اَلْأُذُنُ ٱلسَّامِعَةُ تَوْبِيخَ ٱلْحَيَاةِ تَسْتَقِرُّ بَيْنَ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ. BSB BSB: He who listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.
32 GLT مَنْ يَرْفُضُ ٱلتَّأْدِيبَ يُرْذِلُ نَفْسَهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْمَعُ لِلتَّوْبِيخِ يَقْتَنِي فَهْمًا. BSB BSB: He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding.
33 GLT مَخَافَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ أَدَبُ حِكْمَةٍ، وَقَبْلَ ٱلْكَرَامَةِ ٱلتَّوَاضُعُ. BSB BSB: The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
