1 ULB পরে শৌল তাঁর ছেলে যোনাথনকে ও সমস্ত কর্মচারীদের বললেন যেন তারা দায়ূদকে মেরে ফেলে। কিন্তু দায়ূদের প্রতি শৌলের ছেলে যোনাথনের খুব টান ছিল। BSB BSB: Then Saul ordered his son Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. But Jonathan delighted greatly in David,
2 ULB যোনাথন দায়ূদকে বললেন, “আমার বাবা শৌল তোমাকে মেরে ফেলবার চেষ্টা করছেন। শোন, তুমি কাল সকালে সাবধানে থেকো। একটা গোপন জায়গায় গিয়ে লুকিয়ে থেকো। BSB BSB: so he warned David, saying, “My father Saul intends to kill you. Be on your guard in the morning; find a secret place and hide there.
3 ULB তুমি যে মাঠে থাকবে, আমি আমার বাবাকে নিয়ে সেখানে গিয়ে দাঁড়াব। আর যদি তেমন কিছু জানতে পারি তা তোমাকে জানাব।” BSB BSB: I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, so I can ask about you. And if I find out anything, I will tell you.”
4 ULB যোনাথন তাঁর বাবা শৌলের কাছে দায়ূদের সুনাম করে বললেন, “মহারাজ, আপনার দাস দায়ূদের বিরুদ্ধে আপনি কোন পাপ করবেন না। সে তো আপনার বিরুদ্ধে কোন পাপ করে নি, বরং সে যা করেছে তাতে আপনার অনেক উপকার হয়েছে। BSB BSB: Then Jonathan spoke well of David to his father Saul and said to him, “The king should not sin against his servant David; he has not sinned against you. In fact, his actions have been highly beneficial to you.
5 ULB সে তার প্রাণের ঝুঁকি নিয়ে সেই পলেষ্টীয়কে মেরে ফেলেছে, আর সদাপ্রভু সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে মহাজয় দান করেছেন; আপনি তো তা দেখে খুশী হয়েছিলেন। তবে এখন আপনি অকারণে দায়ূদকে মেরে ফেলে কেন একজন নির্দোষ লোকের রক্তপাত করে তার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করবেন?” BSB BSB: He took his life in his hands when he struck down the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent blood by killing David for no reason?”
6 ULB তখন শৌল যোনাথনের কথা শুনে শপথ করে বললেন, “জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্য তাকে মেরে ফেলা হবে না।” BSB BSB: Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan and swore an oath: “As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be put to death.”
7 ULB পরে যোনাথন দায়ূদকে ডেকে তাঁকে সমস্ত কথা জানালেন। তিনি তাঁকে শৌলের কাছে নিয়ে গেলেন এবং দায়ূদ আগের মতই শৌলের কাছে থাকলেন। BSB BSB: So Jonathan summoned David and told him all these things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and David was with Saul as before.
8 ULB তারপর আবার যখন যুদ্ধ শুরু হয়ে গেল তখন দায়ূদ বের হয়ে পলেষ্টীয়দের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে লাগলেন। তিনি তাদের অনেক লোককে মেরে ফেললেন এবং তারা তাঁর সামনে থেকে পালিয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: When war broke out again, David went out and fought the Philistines and struck them with such a mighty blow that they fled before him.
9 ULB পরে সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে একটা মন্দ আত্মা শৌলের উপর আসল। শৌল তখন তাঁর ঘরে বসে ছিলেন এবং তাঁর হাতে একটা বর্শা ছিল, আর দায়ূদ বীণা বাজাচ্ছিলেন। BSB BSB: But as Saul was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, a spirit of distress from the LORD came upon him. While David was playing the harp,
10 ULB এমন সময় শৌল বর্শা দিয়ে দায়ূদকে দেয়ালে গেঁথে ফেলবার চেষ্টা করলেন, কিন্তু তিনি শৌলের সামনে থেকে সরে গেলেন বলে বর্শাটা দেয়ালে ঢুকে গেল এবং সেই রাতে দায়ূদ পালিয়ে রক্ষা পেলেন। BSB BSB: Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear. But David eluded him and the spear struck the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.
11 ULB দায়ূদের উপর নজর রাখবার জন্য শৌল তাঁর বাড়ীতে লোক পাঠিয়ে দিলেন যাতে পরের দিন সকালে তাঁকে মেরে ফেলা যায়। কিন্তু দায়ূদের স্ত্রী মীখল তাঁকে সব কিছু জানিয়ে বললেন, “আজ রাতে তুমি যদি প্রাণ নিয়ে না পালাও তবে কালই তুমি মারা পড়বে।” BSB BSB: Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and kill him in the morning. But David’s wife Michal warned him, “If you do not run for your life tonight, tomorrow you will be dead!”
12 ULB আর মীখল দায়ূদকে জানলা দিয়ে নীচে নামিয়ে দিলেন আর তিনি পালিয়ে গিয়ে রক্ষা পেলেন। BSB BSB: So Michal lowered David from the window, and he ran away and escaped.
13 ULB মীখল তখন পারিবারিক দেবমূর্তিগুলো নিয়ে বিছানায় রাখলেন এবং বিছানার মাথার দিকে দিলেন ছাগলের লোমের একটা বালিশ; তারপর সেগুলো কাপড় দিয়ে ঢেকে দিলেন। BSB BSB: Then Michal took a household idol and laid it in the bed, placed some goat hair on its head, and covered it with a garment.
14 ULB দায়ূদকে ধরবার জন্য শৌল লোক পাঠালে মীখল বললেন, “উনি অসুস্থ।” BSB BSB: When Saul sent the messengers to seize David, Michal said, “He is ill.”
15 ULB এই খবর শুনে শৌল দায়ূদকে দেখবার জন্য সেই লোকদেরই আবার পাঠালেন এবং বলে দিলেন, “দায়ূদকে খাট শুদ্ধই নিয়ে এস; আমি তাকে মেরে ফেলব।” BSB BSB: But Saul sent the messengers back to see David and told them, “Bring him up to me in his bed so I can kill him.”
16 ULB লোকগুলো ঘরে ঢুকে বিছানার উপর সেই দেবমূর্তিগুলো এবং বিছানার মাথার দিকে ছাগলের লোমের বালিশটা দেখতে পেল। BSB BSB: And when the messengers entered, there was the idol in the bed with the goat hair on its head.
17 ULB পরে শৌল মীখলকে বললেন, “তুমি কেন এইভাবে আমাকে ঠকালে? তুমি আমার শত্রুকে ছেড়ে দেওয়াতে সে পালিয়ে গেছে।” মীখল তাঁকে বললেন, “তিনি বলেছিলেন, ‘আমাকে যেতে দাও৷ আমি কেন শুধু শুধু তোমাকে খুন করব’?” BSB BSB: And Saul said to Michal, “Why did you deceive me like this? You sent my enemy away, and he has escaped!” Michal replied, “He said to me, ‘Help me get away, or I will kill you!’”
18 ULB এদিকে দায়ূদ পালিয়ে গিয়ে প্রাণ বাঁচালেন। তিনি রামায় শমূয়েলের কাছে গেলেন এবং শৌল তাঁর উপর যা যা করেছেন তা সবই তাঁকে জানালেন। এর পর তিনি ও শমূয়েল গিয়ে নায়োতে বাস করতে লাগলেন। BSB BSB: So David ran away and escaped. And he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.
19 ULB পরে কেউ শৌলকে বলল, “দেখুন দায়ূদ রামার নায়োতে আছেন।” BSB BSB: When Saul was told that David was at Naioth in Ramah,
20 ULB তখন দায়ূদকে ধরে আনবার জন্য তিনি লোক পাঠিয়ে দিলেন। সেই লোকেরা গিয়ে দেখল শমূয়েলের অধীনে একদল ভাববাদী যারা ভাববানী বলেন। ঈশ্বরের আত্মা যখন শৌলের লোকদের উপরেও আসলেন তখন তারাও ভাববানী বলতে লাগল। BSB BSB: he sent messengers to seize him. But when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel leading them, the Spirit of God came upon them, and Saul’s messengers also began to prophesy.
21 ULB শৌলকে সেই খবর জানানো হলে তিনি আরও লোক পাঠালেন কিন্তু তারাও গিয়ে ভাববানী প্রচার করতে লাগল। পরে শৌল তৃতীয়বার লোক পাঠালেন আর তারাও গিয়ে ভাববানী প্রচার করতে লাগল। BSB BSB: When this was reported to Saul, he sent more messengers, but they began to prophesy as well. So Saul tried again and sent messengers a third time, and even they began to prophesy.
22 ULB শেষে শৌল নিজেই রামায় গেলেন এবং সেখূতে জল জমা করে রাখবার যে বড় জায়গা ছিল সেখানে গিয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “শমূয়েল আর দায়ূদ কোথায়?” একজন বলল, “তাঁরা রামার নায়োতে আছেন।” তখন শৌল রামার নায়োতে গেলেন৷ BSB BSB: Finally, Saul himself left for Ramah and came to the large cistern at Secu, where he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” “At Naioth in Ramah,” he was told.
23 ULB আর ঈশ্বরের আত্মা তাঁর উপরেও এলে তিনি রামার নায়োত উপস্থিত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত ভাববাণী বললেন। BSB BSB: So Saul went to Naioth in Ramah. But the Spirit of God came upon even Saul, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 ULB আর তিনিও তাঁর পোশাক খুলে ফেলে শমূয়েলের সামনে ভাববাণী বলতে লাগলেন। তিনি সারা দিন ও সারা রাত কাপড়-চোপড় ছাড়াই পড়ে রইলেন। সেইজন্যই লোকে বলে, “শৌলও কি তবে ভাববাদীদের মধ্যে একজন?” BSB BSB: Then Saul stripped off his robes and also prophesied before Samuel. And he collapsed and lay naked all that day and night. That is why it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
