1 ULB ইলীশায় যে স্ত্রীলোকটির ছেলেকে জীবিত করে তুলেছিলেন, তাঁকে বলেছিলেন, “তুমি তোমার পরিবার নিয়ে যেখানে পার সেখানে গিয়ে বাস কর; কারণ সদাপ্রভু দুর্ভিক্ষ পাঠাবেন, আর তা সাত বছর পর্যন্ত এই দেশে থাকবে।” BSB BSB: Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, you and your household; go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has decreed that a seven-year famine will come to the land.”
2 ULB তাতে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটি উঠে ঈশ্বরের লোকের বাক্য অনুসারে কাজ করলেন; তিনি ও তাঁর পরিবার সেখান থেকে গিয়ে সাত বছর পলেষ্টীয়দের দেশে বাস করলেন। BSB BSB: So the woman had proceeded to do as the man of God had instructed. And she and her household lived as foreigners for seven years in the land of the Philistines.
3 ULB সাত বছরের শেষে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটি পলেষ্টীয়দের দেশ থেকে ফিরে এসে তাঁর বাড়ী ও জমি ফেরৎ চাওয়ার জন্য রাজার কাছে কাঁদতে গেল। BSB BSB: At the end of seven years, when the woman returned from the land of the Philistines, she went to the king to appeal for her house and her land.
4 ULB ঐ সময় রাজা ঈশ্বরের লোকের চাকর গেহসির সঙ্গে কথা বলছিলেন; তিনি বললেন, “ইলীশায় যে সব মহান কাজ করেছেন, সেই সব ঘটনা আমাকে বল।” BSB BSB: Now the king had been speaking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please relate to me all the great things Elisha has done.”
5 ULB তাতে ইলীশায় কিভাবে মৃতকে জীবিত করেছিলেন, রাজাকে তার বর্ণনা দিচ্ছিলেন, তখন যাঁর ছেলেকে তিনি জীবিত করেছিলেন, সেই স্ত্রীলোকটি রাজার কাছে তাঁর বাড়ী ও জমির জন্য এসে কাঁদতে লাগলেন। গেহসি তখন বলল, “হে আমার প্রভু মহারাজ, এই সেই স্ত্রীলোক এবং এই তাঁর ছেলে, যাকে ইলীশায় বাঁচিয়ে তুলেছিলেন।” BSB BSB: And Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had brought the dead back to life. Just then the woman whose son Elisha had revived came to appeal to the king for her house and her land. So Gehazi said, “My lord the king, this is the woman, and this is the son Elisha restored to life.”
6 ULB আর রাজা স্ত্রীলোকটিকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলে তিনি তাঁকে সব কথা বললেন। আর রাজা তাঁর পক্ষে একজন কর্মচারীকে নিযুক্ত করে বললেন, “তার সব কিছু এবং এ যে দিন থেকে দেশ ছেড়েছে, সেই দিন থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত তার জমিতে যা ফসল উত্পন্ন হয়েছে তা ফিরিয়ে দাও।” BSB BSB: When the king asked the woman, she confirmed it. So the king appointed for her an officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, along with all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the country until now.”
7 ULB এক সময় ইলীশায় দম্মেশকে উপস্থিত হলেন। তখন অরামের রাজা বিন্হদদ অসুস্থ ছিলেন; তিনি খবর পেলেন যে, “ঈশ্বরের লোকটি এখানে এসেছেন।” BSB BSB: Then Elisha came to Damascus while Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick, and the king was told, “The man of God has come here.”
8 ULB রাজা তখন হসায়েলকে বললেন, “তুমি একটা উপহার নিয়ে ঈশ্বরের লোকের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে যাও এবং তাঁর মধ্যে দিয়ে সদাপ্রভুকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, আমি কি এই অসুখে বাঁচব?” BSB BSB: So the king said to Hazael, “Take a gift in your hand, go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD through him, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
9 ULB পরে হসায়েল তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন। তিনি উপহার সঙ্গে নিয়ে, এমন কি, দম্মেশকের সবচেয়ে ভাল ভাল জিনিস চল্লিশটি উটের পিঠে বোঝাই করে নিয়ে এসে তাঁর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, “আপনার ছেলে অরামের রাজা বিন্হদদ আপনার কাছে আমাকে পাঠিয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করেছেন, ‘আমি কি এই অসুখে বাঁচব’?” BSB BSB: So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him a gift of forty camel loads of every good thing from Damascus. And he went in and stood before him and said, “Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
10 ULB ইলীশায় তাঁকে বললেন, “আপনি গিয়ে তাঁকে বলুন যে, আপনি অবশ্যই সুস্থ হবেন; কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু আমার কাছে প্রকাশ করেছেন যে, তিনি অবশ্যই মারা যাবেন।” BSB BSB: Elisha answered, “Go and tell him, ‘You will surely recover.’ But the LORD has shown me that in fact he will die.”
11 ULB আর হসায়েল লজ্জা না পাওয়া পর্যন্ত তিনি তার দিকে একভাবে তাকিয়ে থাকলেন; তারপর ঈশ্বরের লোক কাঁদতে লাগলেন। BSB BSB: Elisha fixed his gaze steadily on him until Hazael became uncomfortable. Then the man of God began to weep.
12 ULB হসায়েল জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমার প্রভু কেন কাঁদছেন?” উত্তরে তিনি বললেন, “কারণ আপনি ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের কি ক্ষতি করবেন তা আমি জানি; আপনি তাদের মজবুত দুর্গগুলি আগুনে পোড়াবেন, তরোয়ালের ঘায়ে তাদের যুবকদের মেরে ফেলবেন, তাদের শিশুদেরকে ধরে আছাড় মারবেন এবং তাদের গর্ভবতী স্ত্রীলোকদের পেট চিরে দেবেন।” BSB BSB: “Why is my lord weeping?” asked Hazael. “Because I know the evil you will do to the Israelites,” Elisha replied. “You will set fire to their fortresses, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little ones to pieces, and rip open their pregnant women.”
13 ULB হসায়েল বললেন, “আপনার এই কুকুরের মত দাস কে যে, এমন বড় কাজ করবে?” ইলীশায় বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু আমাকে দেখিয়েছেন যে, আপনি অরামের রাজা হবেন।” BSB BSB: “But how could your servant, a mere dog, do such a monstrous thing?” said Hazael. And Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram.”
14 ULB তখন তিনি ইলীশায়ের কাছ থেকে তাঁর মনিবের কাছে চলে গেলেন; রাজা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “ইলীশায় তোমাকে কি বলেছেন?” হসায়েল বললেন, “তিনি আমাকে বলেছেন, আপনি নিশ্চয়ই সুস্থ হবেন।” BSB BSB: So Hazael left Elisha and went to his master, who asked him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he replied, “He told me that you would surely recover.”
15 ULB কিন্তু তার পরের দিন হসায়েল কম্বল জলে ডুবিয়ে রাজার মুখের উপর চাপা দিলেন, তাতে রাজা মারা গেলেন এবং হসায়েল তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন। BSB BSB: But the next day Hazael took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king’s face. So Ben-hadad died, and Hazael reigned in his place.
16 ULB ইস্রায়েলের রাজা আহাবের ছেলে যোরামের রাজত্বের পঞ্চম বছরে যখন যিহোশাফট যিহূদার রাজা ছিলেন, তখন যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটের ছেলে যিহোরাম রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন। BSB BSB: In the fifth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab over Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat succeeded his father as king of Judah.
17 ULB যিহোরাম বত্রিশ বছর বয়সে রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করে আট বছর যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করেন। BSB BSB: Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.
18 ULB আহাবের বংশের লোকদের মতই তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের পথে চলতেন, কারণ তিনি আহাবের মেয়েকে বিয়ে করেছিলেন; ফলে সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ, তিনি তাই করতেন। BSB BSB: And Jehoram walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done. For he married a daughter of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD.
19 ULB তবুও সদাপ্রভু নিজের দাস দায়ূদের কথা মনে করে যিহূদাকে ধ্বংস করতে চাইলেন না, তিনি তো দায়ূদের কাছে প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছিলেন যে, তাঁকে তাঁর সন্তানদের জন্য চিরকাল একটি প্রদীপ দেবেন। BSB BSB: Yet for the sake of His servant David, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, since He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.
20 ULB তাঁর সময়ে ইদোম যিহূদার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করে নিজেদের জন্য একজন রাজা ঠিক করল। BSB BSB: In the days of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against the hand of Judah and appointed their own king.
21 ULB তাই যোরাম তাঁর সব রথ সঙ্গে নিয়ে সায়ীরে গেলেন; আর রাতের বেলায় উঠে, যারা তাঁকে ঘিরে ছিল, সেই ইদোমীয়দেরকে ও তাদের রথের সেনাপতিদেরকে আঘাত করলেন, আর সেই লোকেরা নিজেদের তাঁবুতে পালিয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: So Jehoram crossed over to Zair with all his chariots. When the Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night. His troops, however, fled to their homes.
22 ULB এইভাবে ইদোম আজও যিহূদার বিদ্রোহী হয়ে আছে। আর ঐ একই সময়ে লিব্নাও বিদ্রোহ করল। BSB BSB: So to this day Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise, Libnah rebelled at the same time.
23 ULB যোরামের বাকি সমস্ত কাজের কথা যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই? BSB BSB: As for the rest of the acts of Jehoram, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
24 ULB পরে যোরাম তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রাগত হলেন এবং তাঁকে দায়ূদ নগরে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে কবর দেওয়া হল। তাঁর ছেলে অহসিয় তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন। BSB BSB: And Jehoram rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And his son Ahaziah reigned in his place.
25 ULB ইস্রায়েলের রাজা আহাবের ছেলে যোরামের রাজত্বের বারো বছরের সময় যিহূদার রাজা যিহোরামের ছেলে অহসিয় রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন। BSB BSB: In the twelfth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab over Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.
27 ULB অহসিয় আহাবের বংশের লোকেদের পথে চলতেন, সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা খারাপ, আহাবের বংশের মত তাই করতেন, কারণ তিনি আহাবের বংশের জামাই ছিলেন। BSB BSB: And Ahaziah walked in the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab, for he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
29 ULB অতএব যোরাম রাজা অরামের রাজা হসায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার সময়ে রামাতে অরামীয়েরা তাঁকে যে সব আঘাত করে, তা থেকে ভাল হবার জন্য যিষ্রিয়েলে ফিরে গেলেন; আর আহাবের ছেলে যোরাম আঘাত পেয়েছিলেন বলে যিহূদার রাজা যিহোরামের ছেলে অহসিয় তাঁকে দেখতে যিষ্রিয়েলে নেমে গেলেন। BSB BSB: So King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab, because Joram had been wounded.
