I gave him Isaac,

7 ULB তাতে তারা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কাঁদল ও তিনি মিস্রীয়দের ও তোমাদের মধ্যে অন্ধকার স্থাপন করলেন এবং তাদের উপরে সমুদ্রকে এনে তাদের আচ্ছন্ন করলেন; আমি মিসরে কি করেছি, তা তোমরা নিজেদের চোখে দেখেছ; পরে অনেকদিন মরুভূমিতে বাস করলে। BSB BSB: So your fathers cried out to the LORD, and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, over whom He brought the sea and engulfed them. Your very eyes saw what I did to the Egyptians. Then you lived in the wilderness for a long time.

They fought against you, but I delivered them into your hand, that you should possess their land when I destroyed them before you.
9 ULB পরে সিপ্পোরের ছেলে মোয়াবরাজ বালাক উঠে ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল এবং লোক পাঠিয়ে তোমাদেরকে শাপ দেওয়ার জন্য বিয়োরের পুত্র বিলিয়মকে ডেকে আনল। BSB BSB: Then Balak son of Zippor, the king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse you,
10 ULB কিন্তু আমি বিলিয়মের কথা শুনতে অসম্মত হলাম, তাতে সে তোমাদেরকে শুধু আশীর্বাদই করল; এইভাবে আমি তার হাত থেকে তোমাদেরকে উদ্ধার করলাম। BSB BSB: but I would not listen to Balaam. So he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you from his hand.
11 ULB পরে তোমরা যর্দন পার হয়ে যিরীহোতে উপস্থিত হলে; আর যিরীহোর লোকেরা, ইমোরীয়, পরিষীয়, কনানীয়, হিত্তীয়, গির্গাশীয়, হিব্বীয় ও যিবূষীয়েরা তোমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল, আর আমি তোমাদের হাতে তাদেরকে সমর্পণ করলাম। BSB BSB: After this, you crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho. The people of Jericho fought against you, as did the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I delivered them into your hand.
12 ULB আর তোমাদের আগে আগে ভিমরুল পাঠালাম; তারা তোমাদের সামনে থেকে সেই জনগণকে, ইমোরীয়দের সেই দুই রাজাকে দূর করে দিল; তোমার তরোয়াল বা ধনুকে তা হয় নি। BSB BSB: I sent the hornet ahead of you, and it drove out the two Amorite kings before you, but not by your own sword or bow.
13 ULB আর তোমরা যে জায়গায় পরিশ্রম কর নি, এমন এক দেশ ও যার স্থাপন কর নি, এমন অনেক নগর আমি তোমাদেরকে দিলাম; তোমরা সেখানে বাস করছ; তোমরা যে আঙ্গুর গাছ ও জিতবৃক্ষ (অলিভ গাছ) রোপণ কর নি, তার ফল ভোগ করছ। BSB BSB: So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities that you did not build, and now you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’
14 ULB অতএব এখন তোমরা সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় কর, সরলতায় ও সত্যে তাঁর সেবা কর, আর তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা ফরাৎ নদীর ওপারে ও মিসরে যে দেবতাদের সেবা করত, তাদেরকে দূর করে দাও এবং সদাপ্রভুর সেবা কর। BSB BSB: Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; cast aside the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
15 ULB যদি সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করা তোমাদের মন্দ বোধ হয়, তবে যার সেবা করবে, তাকে আজ মনোনীত কর; নদীর ওপারে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের সেবিত দেবতারা হয় হোক, কিম্বা যাদের দেশে তোমরা বাস করছ, সেই ইমোরীয়দের দেবতারা হয় হোক; কিন্তু আমি ও আমার পরিবার আমরা সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করব। BSB BSB: But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”
16 ULB লোকেরা এর উত্তরে বলল, "আমরা যে সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করে অন্য দেবতাদের সেবা করব, তা দূরে থাকুক। BSB BSB: The people replied, “Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!
17 ULB কারণ আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, তিনিই আমাদের ও আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মিসর দেশ থেকে, দাসত্বের-বাড়ি থেকে, বার করে নিয়ে এসেছেন ও আমাদের চোখের সামনে সেই সমস্ত আশ্চর্য্য চিহ্ন-কাজ করেছেন এবং আমরা যে পথে এসেছি, সেই সমস্ত পথে ও যে সমস্ত জাতির মধ্য দিয়ে এসেছি, তাদের মধ্যে আমাদের রক্ষা করেছেন; BSB BSB: For the LORD our God brought us and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and performed these great signs before our eyes. He also protected us throughout our journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.
18 ULB আর সদাপ্রভু এই দেশে বসবাসকারী ইমোরীয় প্রভৃতি সমস্ত জাতিকে আমাদের সামনে থেকে দূর করে দিয়েছেন; অতএব আমরাও সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করব; কারণ তিনিই আমাদের ঈশ্বর।" BSB BSB: And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites who lived in the land. We too will serve the LORD, because He is our God!”
19 ULB যিহোশূয় লোকদেরকে বললেন, "তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করতে পার না; কেননা তিনি পবিত্র ঈশ্বর, নিজের গৌরব রক্ষা করতে উদ্যোগী ঈশ্বর; তিনি তোমাদের অধর্ম ও পাপ ক্ষমা করবেন না। BSB BSB: But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the LORD, for He is a holy God; He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your rebellion or your sins.
20 ULB তোমরা যদি সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করে অন্য জাতীর দেবতাদের সেবা কর, তবে আগে তোমাদের মঙ্গল করলেও তিনি পিছন ফিরে দাঁড়াবেন, তোমাদের অমঙ্গল করবেন ও তোমাদেরকে ধ্বংস করবেন।" BSB BSB: If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, He will turn and bring disaster on you and consume you, even after He has been good to you.”
21 ULB তখন লোকেরা যিহোশূয়কে বলল, "না, আমরা সদাপ্রভুরই সেবা করব।" BSB BSB: “No!” replied the people. “We will serve the LORD!”
22 ULB যিহোশূয় লোকদেরকে বললেন, "তোমরা তোমাদের বিষয়ে নিজেরাই সাক্ষী হলে যে, তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করার জন্য তাঁকেই মনোনীত করেছ।" তারা বলল, "সাক্ষী হলাম।" BSB BSB: Then Joshua told them, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the LORD.” “We are witnesses!” they said.
23 ULB তিনি বললেন, "তবে এখন তোমাদের মধ্য অবস্থিত অন্য জাতীর দেবতাদের দূর করে দাও ও তোমাদের হৃদয় ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর দিকে রাখ।"BSB BSB: “Now, therefore,” he said, “get rid of the foreign gods among you and incline your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel.”
24 ULB তখন লোকেরা যিহোশূয়কে বলল, "আমরা আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুরই সেবা করব ও তাঁর কথা শুনব।" BSB BSB: So the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God and obey His voice.”
25 ULB তাতে যিহোশূয় সেই দিন লোকদের সঙ্গে নিয়ম স্থাপন করলেন, তিনি শিখিমে তাদের জন্য বিধি-ব্যবস্থা ও শাসন স্থাপন করলেন। BSB BSB: On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he established for them a statute and ordinance.
26 ULB পরে যিহোশূয় ঐ সমস্ত কথা ঈশ্বরের ব্যবস্থা-গ্রন্থে লিখলেন এবং একটি বড় পাথর নিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর পবিত্র-স্থানের কাছে এলা গাছের তলায় স্থাপন করলেন। BSB BSB: Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak that was near the sanctuary of the LORD.
27 ULB পরে যিহোশূয় সমস্ত লোককে বললেন, "দেখ, এই পাথরটি আমাদের বিষয়ে সাক্ষী হবে; কারণ সদাপ্রভু আমাদের যে যে কথা বলেছিলেন, তাঁর সেই সমস্ত কথা এ শুনল; অতএব এ তোমাদের বিষয়ে সাক্ষী হবে, ফলে তোমরা তোমাদের ঈশ্বরকে অস্বীকার কর।" BSB BSB: And Joshua said to all the people, “You see this stone. It will be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words the LORD has spoken to us, and it will be a witness against you if you ever deny your God.”
28 ULB পরে যিহোশূয় লোকদেরকে নিজের নিজের অধিকারে বিদায় করলেন। BSB BSB: Then Joshua sent the people away, each to his own inheritance.
29 ULB এই সমস্ত ঘটনার পরে নূনের পুত্র, সদাপ্রভুর দাস যিহোশূয় একশ দশ বছর বয়সে মারা গেলেন। BSB BSB: Some time later, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of 110.
30 ULB পরে লোকেরা গাশ পর্বতের উত্তরে ইফ্রয়িমের পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলে তিন্নৎ-সেরহে তাঁর অধিকারের অঞ্চলে তাঁর কবর দিল। BSB BSB: And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
31 ULB যিহোশূয়ের সমস্ত জীবনকালে এবং যে প্রাচীনেরা যিহোশূয়ের মৃত্যুর পরে জীবিত ছিলেন ও ইস্রায়েলের জন্য সদাপ্রভুর করা সমস্ত কাজ দেখেছিলেন, তাঁদেরও সমস্ত জীবনকালে ইস্রায়েল সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করল। BSB BSB: Israel had served the LORD throughout the days of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced all the works that the LORD had done for Israel.
32 ULB আর ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানেরা যোষেফের হাড়, যা মিসর থেকে এনেছিল, তা শিখিমে সেই মাটিতে পুঁতে দিল, যা যাকোব একশ রৌপ্য-মুদ্রায় শিখিমের পিতা হমোরের সন্তানদের কাছ থেকে কিনে নিয়েছিলেন; আর তা যোষেফ-সন্তানদের অধিকার হল। BSB BSB: And the bones of Joseph, which the Israelites had brought up out of Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the plot of land that Jacob had purchased from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of silver. So it became an inheritance for Joseph’s descendants.
33 ULB পরে হারোণের ছেলে ইলিয়াসর মারা গেলেন; আর লোকেরা তাঁকে তাঁর পুত্র পীনহসের পাহাড়ে কবর দিল, ইফ্রয়িমের পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলের সেই পাহাড় তাঁকে যা দেওয়া হয়েছিল। BSB BSB: Eleazar son of Aaron also died, and they buried him at Gibeah, which had been given to his son Phinehas in the hill country of Ephraim.
