The Sons of Israel (Genesis 35:21–26; Genesis 38:1–30)

3 Brenton The sons of Juda; Er, Aunan, Selom. These three were born to him of the daughter of Sava the Chananitish woman: and Er, the first-born of Juda, was wicked before the Lord, and he slew him. BSB BSB: The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death.
4 Brenton And Thamar his daughter-in-law bore to him Phares, and Zara: all the sons of Juda were five. BSB BSB: Tamar, Judah’s daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.
5 Brenton The sons of Phares, Esrom, and Jemuel. BSB BSB: The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
6 Brenton And the sons of Zara, Zambri, and Ætham, and Æmuan, and Calchal, and Darad, in all five. BSB BSB: The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara—five in all.
7 Brenton And the sons of Charmi; Achar the troubler of Israel, who was disobedient in the accursed thing. BSB BSB: The son of Carmi: Achar, who brought trouble upon Israel by violating the ban on devoted things.
8 Brenton And the sons of Ætham; Azarias, BSB BSB: The son of Ethan: Azariah.
9 Brenton and the sons of Esrom who were born to him; Jerameel, and Aram, and Chaleb. BSB BSB: The sons who were born to Hezron: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.
10 Brenton And Aram begot Aminadab, and Aminadab begot Naasson, chief of the house of Juda. BSB BSB: Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of the descendants of Judah.
11 Brenton And Naasson begot Salmon, and Salmon begot Booz, BSB BSB: Nahshon was the father of Salmon, and Salmon was the father of Boaz.
12 Brenton and Booz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jessæ. BSB BSB: Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.
13 Brenton And Jessæ begot his first-born Eliab, Aminadab was the second, Samaa the third, BSB BSB: Jesse was the father of Eliab his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third,
14 Brenton Nathanael the fourth, Zabdai the fifth, BSB BSB: Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth,
15 Brenton Asam the sixth, David the seventh. BSB BSB: Ozem sixth, and David seventh.
16 Brenton And their sister was Saruia, and another Abigaia: and the sons of Saruia were Abisa, and Joab, and Asael, three. BSB BSB: Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the three sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
17 Brenton And Abigaia bore Amessab: and the father of Amessab was Jothor the Ismaelite. BSB BSB: Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
18 Brenton And Chaleb the son of Esrom took Gazuba to wife, and Jerioth: and these were her sons; Jasar, and Subab, and Ardon. BSB BSB: Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. These were the sons of Azubah: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19 Brenton And Gazuba died; and Chaleb took to himself Ephrath, and she bore to him Or. BSB BSB: When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore to him Hur.
20 Brenton And Or begot Uri, and Uri begot Beseleel. BSB BSB: Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21 Brenton And after this Esron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Galaad, and he took her when he was sixty-five years old; and she bore him Seruch. BSB BSB: Later, Hezron slept with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. He had married her when he was sixty years old, and she bore to him Segub.
22 Brenton And Seruch begot Jair, and he had twenty-three cities in Galaad. BSB BSB: Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.
23 Brenton And he took Gedsur and Aram, the towns of Jair from them; with Canath and its towns, sixty cities. All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Galaad. BSB BSB: But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth-jair, along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages. All these were descendants of Machir the father of Gilead.
24 Brenton And after the death of Esron, Chaleb came to Ephratha; and the wife of Esron was Abia; and she bore him Ascho the father of Thecoe. BSB BSB: After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah bore to him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.
25 Brenton And the sons of Jerameel the first-born of Esron were , the first-born Ram, and Banaa, and Aram, and Asan his brother. BSB BSB: The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron: Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26 Brenton And Jerameel had another wife, and her name was Atara: she is the mother of Ozom. BSB BSB: Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah, who was the mother of Onam.
27 Brenton And the sons of Ram the first-born of Jerameel were Maas, and Jamin, and Acor. BSB BSB: The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.

29 Brenton And the name of the wife of Abisur was Abichaia, and she bore him Achabar, and Moel. BSB BSB: Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, and she bore to him Ahban and Molid.
30 Brenton And the sons of Nadab; Salad and Apphain; and Salad died without children. BSB BSB: The sons of Nadab: Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children.
31 Brenton And the sons of Apphain, Isemiel; and the sons of Isemiel, Sosan; and the sons of Sosan, Dadai. BSB BSB: The son of Appaim: Ishi. The son of Ishi: Sheshan. The son of Sheshan: Ahlai.
32 Brenton And the sons of Dadai, Achisamas, Jether, Jonathan: and Jether died childless. BSB BSB: The sons of Jada the brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children.
33 Brenton And the sons of Jonathan; Phaleth, and Hozam. These were the sons of Jerameel. BSB BSB: The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
34 Brenton And Sosan had no sons, but daughters. And Sosan had an Egyptian servant, and his name was Jochel. BSB BSB: Sheshan had no sons, but only daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
35 Brenton And Sosan gave his daughter to Jochel his servant to wife; and she bore him Ethi. BSB BSB: Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore to him Attai.
36 Brenton And Ethi begot Nathan, and Nathan begot Zabed, BSB BSB: Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan was the father of Zabad,
37 Brenton and Zabed begot Aphamel, and Aphamel begot Obed. BSB BSB: Zabad was the father of Ephlal, Ephlal was the father of Obed,
38 Brenton And Obed begot Jeu, and Jeu begot Azarias, BSB BSB: Obed was the father of Jehu, Jehu was the father of Azariah,
39 Brenton and Azarias begot Chelles, and Chelles begot Eleasa, BSB BSB: Azariah was the father of Helez, Helez was the father of Elasah,
40 Brenton and Eleasa begot Sosomai, and Sosomai begot Salum, BSB BSB: Elasah was the father of Sismai, Sismai was the father of Shallum,
41 Brenton and Salum begot Jechemias, and Jechemias begot Elisama, and Elisama begot Ismael. BSB BSB: Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
42 Brenton And the sons of Chaleb the brother of Jerameel were , Marisa his first-born, he is the father of Ziph:—and the sons of Marisa the father of Chebron. BSB BSB: The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and Mareshah his second son, who was the father of Hebron.
43 Brenton And the sons of Chebron; Core, and Thapphus, and Recom, and Samaa. BSB BSB: The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44 Brenton And Samaa begot Raem the father of Jeclan: and Jeclan begot Samai. BSB BSB: Shema was the father of Raham the father of Jorkeam, and Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45 Brenton And his son was Maon: and Maon is the father of Bæthsur. BSB BSB: The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth-zur.
46 Brenton And Gæpha the concubine of Chaleb bore Aram, and Mosa, and Gezue. BSB BSB: Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

48 Brenton And Chaleb's concubine Mocha bore Saber, and Tharam. BSB BSB: Caleb’s concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.
49 Brenton She bore also Sagae the father of Madmena, and Sau the father of Machabena, and the father of Gæbal: and the daughter of Chaleb was Ascha. BSB BSB: She was also the mother of Shaaph father of Madmannah, and of Sheva father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Acsah.
50 Brenton These were the sons of Chaleb: the sons of Or the first-born of Ephratha; Sobal the father of Cariathiarim, BSB BSB: These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim,
51 Brenton Salomon the father of Bætha, Lammon the father of Bæthalaem, and Arim the father of Bethgedor. BSB BSB: Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader.
52 Brenton And the sons of Sobal the father of Cariathiarim were Araa, and Æsi, and Ammanith, BSB BSB: These were the descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim: Haroeh, half the Manahathites,
53 Brenton and Umasphaë, cities of Jair; Æthalim, and Miphithim, and Hesamathim, and Hemasaraim; from these went forth the Sarathæans, and the sons of Esthaam. BSB BSB: and the clans of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.
54 Brenton The sons of Salomon; Bæthalaem, the Netophathite, Ataroth of the house of Joab, and half of the family of Malathi, Esari. BSB BSB: The descendants of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,
