1And king David and the captains of the host appointed to their services the sons of Asaph, and of Æman, and of Idithun, prophesiers with harps, and lutes, and cymbals: and their number was according to their polls serving in their ministrations.Additionally, David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy with the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. The following is the list of the men who performed this service:

2The sons of Asaph; Sacchur, Joseph, and Nathanias, and Erael: the sons of Asaph were next the king.From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.

3To Idithun were reckoned the sons of Idithun, Godolias, and Suri, and Iseas, and Asabias, and Matthathias, six after their father Idithun, sounding loudly on the harp thanksgiving and praise to the Lord.From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah—six in all—under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.

4To Æman were reckoned the sons of Æman, Bukias, and Matthanias, and Oziel, and Subael, and Jerimoth, and Ananias, and Anan, and Heliatha, and Godollathi, and Rometthiezer, and Jesbasaca, and Mallithi, and Otheri, and Meazoth.From the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

5All these were the sons of Æman the king's chief player in the praises of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Æman fourteen sons, and three daughters.All these sons of Heman the king’s seer were given him through the promises of God to exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6All these sang hymns with their father in the house of God, with cymbals, and lutes, and harps, for the service of the house of God, near the king, and Asaph, and Idithun, and Æman.All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.

7And the number of them after their brethren, those instructed to sing to God, every one that understood singing was two hundred and eighty-eight.Together with their relatives, who were all trained and skillful in the songs of the LORD, they numbered 288.

8And they also cast lots for the daily courses, for the great and the small of them, of the perfect ones and the learners.They cast lots for their duties, young and old alike, teacher as well as pupil.

9And the first lot of his sons and of his brethren came forth to Asaph the son of Joseph, namely, Godolias: the second Heneia, his sons and his brethren being twelve.The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all; the second to Gedaliah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

10The third Zacchur, his sons and his brethren were twelve:the third to Zaccur, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

11the fourth Jesri, his sons and his brethren were twelve:the fourth to Izri, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

12the fifth Nathan, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

13the sixth Bukias, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

14the seventh Iseriel, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the seventh to Jesarelah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

15the eighth Josia, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

16the ninth Matthanias, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

17the tenth Semeia, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the tenth to Shimei, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

18the eleventh Asriel, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the eleventh to Azarel, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

19the twelfth Asabia, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

20the thirteenth Subael, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the thirteenth to Shubael, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

21the fourteenth Matthathias, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the fourteenth to Mattithiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

22the fifteenth Jerimoth, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

23the sixteenth Anania, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

24the seventeenth Jesbasaca, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

25the eighteenth Ananias, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

26the nineteenth Mallithi, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

27the twentieth Heliatha, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

28the twenty-first Otheri, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the twenty-first to Hothir, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

29the twenty-second Godollathi, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

30the twenty-third Meazoth, his sons and his brethren, twelve:the twenty-third to Mahazioth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

31the twenty-fourth Rometthiezer, his sons and his brethren, twelve.and the twenty-fourth to Romamti-ezer, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all.
