1The sons of Levi: Gedson, Caath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

2And the sons of Caath; Ambram, and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

3And the sons of Ambram; Aaron, and Moses, and Mariam: and the sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abiud, Eleazar, and Ithamar.The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

4Eleazar begot Phinees, Phinees begot Abisu;Eleazar was the father of Phinehas, Phinehas was the father of Abishua,

5Abisu begot Bokki, and Bokki begot Ozi;Abishua was the father of Bukki, Bukki was the father of Uzzi,

6Ozi begot Zaraia, Zaraia begot Mariel;Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth,

7and Mariel begot Amaria, and Amaria begot Achitob;Meraioth was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

8and Achitob begot Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Achimaas;Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,

9and Achimaas begot Azarias, and Azarias begot Joanan;Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Johanan,

10and Joanan begot Azarias: he ministered as priest in the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem.Johanan was the father of Azariah, who served as priest in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem,

11And Azarias begot Amaria, and Amaria begot Achitob;Azariah was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

12and Achitob begot Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Salom;Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Shallum,

13and Salom begot Chelcias, and Chelcias begot Azarias;Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,

14and Azarias begot Saraia, and Saraias begot Josadac.Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.

15And Josadac went into captivity with Juda and Jerusalem under Nabuchodonosor.Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

16The sons of Levi: Gedson, Caath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

17And these are the names of the sons of Gedson; Lobeni, and Semei.These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

18The sons of Caath; Ambram, and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

19The sons of Merari; Mooli and Musi: and these are the families of Levi, according to their families.The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites listed according to their fathers:

20To Gedson—to Lobeni his son—were born Jeth his son, Zammath his son,Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,

21Joab his son, Addi his son, Zara his son, Jethri his son.Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.

22The sons of Caath; Aminadab his son, Core his son, Aser his son;The descendants of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,

23Helcana his son, Abisaph his son, Aser his son:Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,

24Thaath his son, Uriel his son, Ozia his son, Saul his son.Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.

25And the sons of Helcana; Amessi, and Achimoth.The descendants of Elkanah: Amasai, Ahimoth,

26Helcana his son, Suphi his son, Cainaath his son;Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son,

27Eliab his son, Jeroboam his son, Helcana his son.Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.

28The sons of Samuel; the first-born Sani, and Abia.The sons of Samuel: Joel his firstborn and Abijah his second son.

29The sons of Merari; Mooli, Lobeni his son, Semei his son, Oza his son;The descendants of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,

30Samaa his son, Angia his son, Asaias his son.Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

31And these were the men whom David set over the service of the singers in the house of the Lord when the ark was at rest.These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the LORD after the ark rested there.

32And they ministered in front of the tabernacle of witness playing on instruments, until Solomon built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they stood according to their order for their services.They ministered with song before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. And they performed their duties according to the regulations given them.

33And these were the men that stood, and their sons, of the sons of Caath: Æman the psalm singer, son of Joel, the son of Samuel,These are the men who served, together with their sons. From the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34the son of Helcana, the son of Jeroboam, the son of Eliel, the son of Thoas,the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35the son of Suph, the son of Helcana, the son of Maath, the son of Amathi,the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36the son of Helcana, the son of Joel, the son of Azarias, the son of Japhanias,the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37the son of Thaath, the son of Aser, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core,the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

38the son of Isaar, the son of Caath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right hand; Asaph the son of Barachias, the son of Samaa,Heman’s kinsman was Asaph, who served at his right hand: Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

40the son of Michael, the son of Baasia, the son of Melchia,the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,

41the son of Athani, the son of Zaarai,the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

42the son of Adai, the son of Ætham, the son of Zammam, the son of Semei,the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,

43the son of Jeeth, the son of Gedson, the son of Levi.the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

44And the sons of Merari their brethren on the left hand: Ætham the son of Kisa, the son of Abai, the son of Maloch,On the left were their kinsmen, the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

45the son of Asebi,the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

46the son of Amessias, the son of Bani, the son of Semer,the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,

47the son of Mooli, the son of Musi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48And their brethren according to the houses of their fathers, were the Levites who were appointed to all the work of ministration of the tabernacle of the house of God.Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.

49And Aaron and his sons were to burn incense on the altar of whole-burnt-offerings, and on the altar of incense, for all the ministry in the holy of holies, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all things that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.But Aaron and his sons did all the work of the Most Holy Place. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50And these are the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinees his son, Abisu his son,These were the descendants of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

51Bokki his son, Ozi his son, Saraia his son,Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

52Mariel his son, Amaria his son, Achitob his son,Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

53Sadoc his son, Achimaas his son.Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.

54And these are their residences in their villages, in their coasts, to the sons of Aaron, to their family the Caathites: for they had the lot.Now these were the territories assigned to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clan for their settlements, because the first lot fell to them:

55And they gave them Chebron in the land of Juda, and its suburbs round about it.They were given Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands.

56But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Chaleb the son of Jephonne.But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge, even Chebron, and Lobna and her suburbs round about, and Selna and her suburbs, and Esthamo and her suburbs,So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,

58and Jethar and her suburbs, and Dabir and her suburbs,Hilen, Debir,

59and Asan and her suburbs, and Bæthsamys and her suburbs:Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, together with their pasturelands.

60and of the tribe of Benjamin Gabai and her suburbs, and Galemath and her suburbs, and Anathoth and her suburbs: all their cities were thirteen cities according to their families.And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, together with their pasturelands. So they had thirteen cities in all among their families.

61And to the sons of Caath that were left of their families, there were given out of the tribe, namely, out of the half-tribe of Manasse, by lot, ten cities.To the rest of the Kohathites, ten cities were allotted from the half-tribe of Manasseh.

62And to the sons of Gedson according to their families there were given thirteen cities of the tribe of Issachar, of the tribe of Aser, of the tribe of Nephthali, of the tribe of Manasse in Basan.The Gershomites, according to their clans, were allotted thirteen cities from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.

63And to the sons of Merari according to their families there were given, by lot, twelve cities of the tribe of Ruben, of the tribe of Gad, and of the tribe of Zabulon.The Merarites, according to their clans, were allotted twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

64So the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their suburbs.So the Israelites gave to the Levites these cities and their pasturelands.

65And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Juda, and out of the tribe of the children of Symeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities which they call by name.They assigned by lot the cities named above from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

66And to the members of the families of the sons of Caath there were also given the cities of their borders out of the tribe of Ephraim.And some of the clans of the Kohathites were given cities from the tribe of Ephraim for their territory:

67And they gave them the cities of refuge, Sychem and her suburbs in mount Ephraim, and Gazer and her suburbs,They were given Shechem (a city of refuge) with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer,

68and Jecmaan and her suburbs, and Bæthoron and her suburbs,Jokmeam, Beth-horon,

69and Ælon and her suburbs, and Gethremmon and her suburbs:Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon, together with their pasturelands.

70and of the half-tribe of Manasse Anar and her suburbs, and Jemblaan and her suburbs, to the sons of Caath that were left, according to each several family.And from the half-tribe of Manasseh the rest of the clans of the Kohathites were given Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands.

71To the sons of Gedson from the families of the half-tribe of Manasse they gave Golan of Basan and her suburbs, and Aseroth and her suburbs.The Gershomites received the following: From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands.

72And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedes and her suburbs, and Deberi and her suburbs, and Dabor and her suburbs,From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kedesh, Daberath,

73and Ramoth, and Ænan and her suburbs.Ramoth, and Anem, together with their pasturelands.

74And of the tribe of Aser; Maasal and her suburbs, and Abdon and her suburbs,From the tribe of Asher they were given Mashal, Abdon,

75and Acac and her suburbs, and Roob and her suburbs.Hukok, and Rehob, together with their pasturelands.

76And of the tribe of Nephthali; Kedes in Galilee and her suburbs, and Chamoth and her suburbs, and Kariathaim and her suburbs.And from the tribe of Naphtali they were given Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, together with their pasturelands.

77To the sons of Merari that were left, they gave out of the tribe of Zabulon Remmon and her suburbs, and Thabor and her suburbs:The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following: From the tribe of Zebulun they were given Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands.

78out of the country beyond Jordan; Jericho westward of Jordan: out of the tribe of Ruben; Bosor in the wilderness and her suburbs, and Jasa and her suburbs,From the tribe of Reuben east of the Jordan opposite Jericho they were given Bezer in the wilderness, Jahzah,

79and Kadmoth and her suburbs, and Maephla and her suburbs.Kedemoth, and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands.

80Out of the tribe of Gad; Rammoth Galaad and her suburbs, and Maanaim and her suburbs,And from the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,

81and Esebon and her suburbs, and Jazer and her suburbs.Heshbon, and Jazer, together with their pasturelands.
