22 Brenton All the chosen porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve, these were in their courts, this was their distribution: these David and Samuel the seer established in their charge. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.

24 Brenton The gates were toward the four winds, eastward, westward, northward, southward. BSB BSB: The gatekeepers were stationed on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.
25 Brenton And their brethren were in their courts, to enter in weekly from time to time with these. BSB BSB: Their relatives came from their villages at fixed times to serve with them for seven-day periods.
26 Brenton For four strong men have the charge of the gates; and the Levites were over the chambers, and they keep watch over the treasures of the house of God. BSB BSB: But the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of the house of God.
27 Brenton For the charge was upon them, and these were charged with the keys to open the doors of the temple every morning. BSB BSB: They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it every morning.
28 Brenton And some of them were appointed over the vessels of service, that they should carry them in by number, and carry them out by number. BSB BSB: Some of them were in charge of the articles used in worship, to count them whenever they were brought in or taken out.
29 Brenton And some of them were appointed over the furniture, and over all the holy vessels, and over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the frankincense, and the spices. BSB BSB: Others were put in charge of the furnishings and other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, frankincense, and spices.
30 Brenton And some of the priests were makers of the ointment, and appointed to prepare the spices. BSB BSB: And some of the sons of the priests mixed the spices.
31 Brenton And Matthathias of the Levites, (he was the first-born of Salom the Corite,) was set in charge over the sacrifices of meat-offering of the pan belonging to the high priest. BSB BSB: A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread.
32 Brenton And Banaias the Caathite, from among their brethren, was set over the shewbread, to prepare it every sabbath. BSB BSB: Some of their Kohathite relatives were responsible for preparing the rows of the showbread every Sabbath.
33 Brenton And these were the singers, heads of families of the Levites, to whom were established daily courses, for they were employed in the services day and night. BSB BSB: Those who were musicians, the heads of Levite families, stayed in the temple chambers and were exempt from other duties because they were on duty day and night.
34 Brenton These were the heads of the families of the Levites according to their generations; these chiefs dwelt in Jerusalem. BSB BSB: All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs according to their genealogies, and they lived in Jerusalem.
The Descendants of Saul 35 Brenton And Jeël the father of Gabaon dwelt in Gabaon; and his wife's name was Moöcha. BSB BSB: Jeiel the father of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maacah.
36 Brenton And his first-born son was Abdon, and he had Sur, and Kis, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, BSB BSB: Abdon was his firstborn son, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Brenton and Gedur and his brother, and Zacchur, and Makeloth. BSB BSB: Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.
38 Brenton And Makeloth begot Samaa: and these dwelt in the midst of their brethren in Jerusalem, even in the midst of their brethren. BSB BSB: Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived alongside their relatives in Jerusalem.
