The End Times (Revelation 1:1–3)
Brenton And at that time Michael the great prince shall stand up, that stands over the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of tribulation, such tribulation as has not been from the time that there was a nation on the earth until that time: at that time thy people shall be delivered, even every one that is written in the book. BSB BSB: “At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
Brenton And the wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and some of the many righteous as the stars for ever and ever. BSB BSB: Then the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.
Brenton And thou, Daniel, close the words, and seal the book to the time of the end; until many are taught, and knowledge is increased. BSB BSB: But you, Daniel, shut up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will roam to and fro, and knowledge will increase.”
Brenton And I Daniel saw, and, behold, two others stood, one on one side of the bank of the river, and the other on the other side of the bank of the river. BSB BSB: Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two others standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.
Brenton And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was over the water of the river, When will be the end of the wonders which thou hast mentioned? BSB BSB: One of them said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long until the fulfillment of these wonders?”
Brenton And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was over the water of the river, and he lifted up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and sware by him that lives for ever, that it should be for a time of times and half a time: when the dispersion is ended they shall know all these things. BSB BSB: And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by Him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people has finally been shattered, all these things will be completed.”
Brenton And I heard, but I understood not: and I said, O Lord, what will be the end of these things? BSB BSB: I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these things?”
Brenton And he said, Go, Daniel: for the words are closed and sealed up to the time of the end. BSB BSB: “Go on your way, Daniel,” he replied, “for the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
Brenton Many must be tested, and thoroughly whitened, and tried with fire, and sanctified; but the transgressors shall transgress: and none of the transgressors shall understand; but the wise shall understand. BSB BSB: Many will be purified, made spotless, and refined, but the wicked will continue to act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
Brenton And from the time of the removal of the perpetual sacrifice, when the abomination of desolation shall be set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. BSB BSB: And from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days.
Brenton Blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. BSB BSB: Blessed is he who waits and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
Brenton But go thou, and rest; for there are yet days and seasons to the fulfilment of the end; and thou shalt stand in thy lot at the end of the days. BSB BSB: But as for you, go on your way until the end. You will rest, and then you will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”
