Psalm 1 1 Psalms Book 1 Brenton Septuagint Israel's book of prayer and praise: 150 songs for every season of life, from lament to joy.
Introduction to PsalmsBOOK I The Two Paths (Matthew 5:3–12; Luke 6:20–23)
1 Brenton Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men. BSB BSB: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 Brenton But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in his law will he meditate day and night. BSB BSB: But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.
3 Brenton And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall be prospered. BSB BSB: He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
4 Brenton Not so the ungodly;—not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth. BSB BSB: Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.
5 Brenton Therefore the ungodly shall not rise in judgment, nor sinners in the counsel of the just. BSB BSB: Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 Brenton For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish. BSB BSB: For the LORD guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
