Give Praise, O Servants of the LORD (Psalm 115:1–18)
1 Brenton Alleluia. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise the Lord, ye his servants, BSB BSB: Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD. Give praise, O servants of the LORD,
2 Brenton who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. BSB BSB: who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Brenton Praise ye the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises to his name; for it is good. BSB BSB: Hallelujah, for the LORD is good; sing praises to His name, for it is lovely.
4 Brenton For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. BSB BSB: For the LORD has chosen Jacob as His own, Israel as His treasured possession.
5 Brenton For I know that the Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods; BSB BSB: For I know that the LORD is great; our Lord is above all gods.
6 Brenton all that the Lord willed, he did in heaven, and on the earth, in the sea, and in all deeps. BSB BSB: The LORD does all that pleases Him in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and in all their depths.
7 Brenton Who brings up clouds from the extremity of the earth: he has made lightnings for the rain: he brings winds out of his treasures. BSB BSB: He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He generates the lightning with the rain and brings forth the wind from His storehouses.
8 Brenton Who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast. BSB BSB: He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, of both man and beast.
9 Brenton He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, on Pharao, and on all his servants. BSB BSB: He sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 Brenton Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings; BSB BSB: He struck down many nations and slaughtered mighty kings:
11 Brenton Seon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Basan, and all the kingdoms of Chanaan: BSB BSB: Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan.
12 Brenton and gave their land for an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel his people. BSB BSB: He gave their land as an inheritance, as a heritage to His people Israel.
13 Brenton O Lord, thy name endures for ever, and thy memorial to all generations. BSB BSB: Your name, O LORD, endures forever, Your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
14 Brenton For the Lord shall judge his people, and comfort himself concerning his servants. BSB BSB: For the LORD will vindicate His people and will have compassion on His servants.
15 Brenton The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the works of men's hands. BSB BSB: The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
16 Brenton They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see; BSB BSB: They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see;
17 Brenton they have ears, but they cannot hear; for there is no breath in their mouth. BSB BSB: they have ears, but cannot hear; nor is there breath in their mouths.
18 Brenton Let those who make them be made like to them; and all those who trust in them. BSB BSB: Those who make them become like them, as do all who trust in them.
19 Brenton O house of Israel, bless ye the Lord: O house of Aaron, bless ye the Lord: BSB BSB: O house of Israel, bless the LORD; O house of Aaron, bless the LORD;
20 Brenton O house of Levi, bless ye the Lord: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord. BSB BSB: O house of Levi, bless the LORD; you who fear the LORD, bless the LORD!
21 Brenton Blessed in Sion be the Lord, who dwells in Jerusalem. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD from Zion—He who dwells in Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
