Psalm 16 16 Psalms Book 1 Brenton Septuagint The Presence of the LORD (Acts 2:14–36)
Brenton A writing of David. Keep me, O Lord; for I have hoped in thee. BSB BSB: A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge.
Brenton I said to the Lord, Thou art my Lord; for thou hast no need of my goodness. BSB BSB: I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”
Brenton On behalf of the saints that are in his land, he has magnified all his pleasure in them. BSB BSB: As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides.
Brenton Their weaknesses have been multiplied; afterward they hasted. I will by no means assemble their bloody meetings, neither will I make mention of their names with my lips. BSB BSB: Sorrows will multiply to those who chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips.
Brenton The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou art he that restores my inheritance to me. BSB BSB: The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.
Brenton The lines have fallen to me in the best places, yea, I have a most excellent heritage. BSB BSB: The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; surely my inheritance is delightful.
Brenton I will bless the Lord who has instructed me; my reins too have chastened me even till night. BSB BSB: I will bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me.
Brenton I foresaw the Lord always before my face; for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. BSB BSB: I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Brenton Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: BSB BSB: Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely.
Brenton because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. BSB BSB: For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.
Brenton Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand there are delights for ever. BSB BSB: You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
