1. Put On the New Self

   (Ephesians 4:17–32)

2. 1BSBTherefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.KJVKJV: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
3. 2BSBSet your minds on things above, not on earthly things.KJVKJV: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
4. 3BSBFor you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.KJVKJV: For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
5. 4BSBWhen Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.KJVKJV: When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
6. 5BSBPut to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.KJVKJV: Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
7. 6BSBBecause of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.KJVKJV: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
8. 7BSBWhen you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways.KJVKJV: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
9. 8BSBBut now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.KJVKJV: But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
10. 9BSBDo not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,KJVKJV: Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
11. 10BSBand have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.KJVKJV: And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
12. 11BSBHere there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all and is in all.KJVKJV: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
13. 12BSBTherefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.KJVKJV: Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
14. 13BSBBear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.KJVKJV: Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
15. 14BSBAnd over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.KJVKJV: And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
16. 15BSBLet the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.KJVKJV: And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
17. 16BSBLet the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.KJVKJV: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
18. 17BSBAnd whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.KJVKJV: And what soever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

23. 21BSBFathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.KJVKJV: Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

25. 22BSBSlaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.KJVKJV: Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
26. 23BSBWhatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men,KJVKJV: And what soever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
