11. The Order of the Sacrifices

    (Leviticus 8:22–36)

12. 10BSBYou are to present the bull at the front of the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on its head.KJVKJV: And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock.
13. 11BSBAnd you shall slaughter the bull before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.KJVKJV: And thou shalt kill the bullock before the LORD, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
14. 12BSBTake some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; then pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar.
15. 13BSBTake all the fat that covers the entrails and the lobe of the liver, and both kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul that is above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar.
16. 14BSBBut burn the flesh of the bull and its hide and dung outside the camp; it is a sin offering.KJVKJV: But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.
17. 15BSBTake one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.KJVKJV: Thou shalt also take one ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.
18. 16BSBYou are to slaughter the ram, take its blood, and splatter it on all sides of the altar.KJVKJV: And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the altar.
19. 17BSBCut the ram into pieces, wash the entrails and legs, and place them with its head and other pieces.KJVKJV: And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put them unto his pieces, and unto his head.
20. 18BSBThen burn the entire ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the LORD.KJVKJV: And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
21. 19BSBTake the second ram, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on its head.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.
22. 20BSBSlaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and put it on the right earlobes of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Splatter the remaining blood on all sides of the altar.KJVKJV: Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
23. 21BSBAnd take some of the blood on the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments, as well as on his sons and their garments. Then he and his garments will be consecrated, as well as his sons and their garments.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
24. 22BSBTake the fat from the ram, the fat tail, the fat covering the entrails, the lobe of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh (since this is a ram for ordination),KJVKJV: Also thou shalt take of the ram the fat and the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder; for it is a ram of consecration:
25. 23BSBalong with one loaf of bread, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread that is before the LORD.KJVKJV: And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the LORD:
26. 24BSBPut all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.KJVKJV: And thou shalt put all in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons; and shalt wave them for a wave offering before the LORD.
27. 25BSBThen take them from their hands and burn them on the altar atop the burnt offering as a pleasing aroma before the LORD; it is a food offering to the LORD.KJVKJV: And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28. 26BSBTake the breast of the ram of Aaron’s ordination and wave it before the LORD as a wave offering, and it will be your portion.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration, and wave it for a wave offering before the LORD: and it shall be thy part.
29. 27BSBConsecrate for Aaron and his sons the breast of the wave offering that is waved and the thigh of the heave offering that is lifted up from the ram of ordination.KJVKJV: And thou shalt sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering, which is waved, and which is heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons:
30. 28BSBThis will belong to Aaron and his sons as a regular portion from the Israelites, for it is the heave offering the Israelites will make to the LORD from their peace offerings.KJVKJV: And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’ by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their heave offering unto the LORD.
31. 29BSBThe holy garments that belong to Aaron will belong to his sons after him, so they can be anointed and ordained in them.KJVKJV: And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
32. 30BSBThe son who succeeds him as priest and enters the Tent of Meeting to minister in the Holy Place must wear them for seven days.KJVKJV: And that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place.

33. Food for the Priests

34. 31BSBYou are to take the ram of ordination and boil its flesh in a holy place.KJVKJV: And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and seethe his flesh in the holy place.
35. 32BSBAt the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket.KJVKJV: And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
36. 33BSBThey must eat those things by which atonement was made for their ordination and consecration. But no outsider may eat them, because these things are sacred.KJVKJV: And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.
37. 34BSBAnd if any of the meat of ordination or any bread is left until the morning, you are to burn up the remainder. It must not be eaten, because it is sacred.KJVKJV: And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
38. 35BSBThis is what you are to do for Aaron and his sons based on all that I have commanded you, taking seven days to ordain them.KJVKJV: And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all things which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.
39. 36BSBSacrifice a bull as a sin offering each day for atonement. Purify the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.KJVKJV: And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.
40. 37BSBFor seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will become most holy; whatever touches the altar will be holy.KJVKJV: Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.

41. The Daily Offerings

    (Numbers 28:1–8)

42. 38BSBThis is what you are to offer regularly on the altar, each day: two lambs that are a year old.KJVKJV: Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
43. 39BSBOffer one lamb in the morning and the other at twilight.KJVKJV: The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:
44. 40BSBWith the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with a quarter hin of oil from pressed olives, and a drink offering of a quarter hin of wine.KJVKJV: And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.
45. 41BSBAnd offer the second lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning, as a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the LORD.KJVKJV: And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
46. 42BSBFor the generations to come, this burnt offering shall be made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you.KJVKJV: This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.
47. 43BSBI will also meet with the Israelites there, and that place will be consecrated by My glory.KJVKJV: And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.
48. 44BSBSo I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and I will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve Me as priests.KJVKJV: And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office.

49. God Will Dwell among the People

50. 45BSBThen I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.KJVKJV: And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
51. 46BSBAnd they will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.KJVKJV: And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.
