Galatians 1 Galatians 1
Paul's gospel came from Christ
Paul’s Greeting to the Galatians 1 BSB Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead— KJV KJV: Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 BSB and all the brothers with me, To the churches of Galatia: KJV KJV: And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 BSB Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, KJV KJV: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 BSB who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, KJV KJV: Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 BSB to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. KJV KJV: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
No Other Gospel 7 BSB which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ. KJV KJV: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
9 BSB As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse! KJV KJV: As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Paul Preaches the Gospel 10 BSB Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. KJV KJV: For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 BSB For I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man. KJV KJV: But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 BSB I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. KJV KJV: For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it , but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 BSB For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how severely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. KJV KJV: For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 BSB I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. KJV KJV: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15 BSB But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased KJV KJV: But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
16 BSB to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not rush to consult with flesh and blood, KJV KJV: To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17 BSB nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. KJV KJV: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
20 BSB I assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie. KJV KJV: Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
21 BSB Later I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia. KJV KJV: Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 BSB I was personally unknown, however, to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. KJV KJV: And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23 BSB They only heard the account: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” KJV KJV: But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24 BSB And they glorified God because of me. KJV KJV: And they glorified God in me.
