6. 5BSB“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”KJVKJV: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.KJVKJV: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

12. 10BSB“I heard Your voice in the garden,” he replied, “and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”KJVKJV: And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
13. 11BSB“Who told you that you were naked?” asked the LORD God. “Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”KJVKJV: And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
14. 12BSBAnd the man answered, “The woman whom You gave me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”KJVKJV: And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
15. 13BSBThen the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” “The serpent deceived me,” she replied, “and I ate.”KJVKJV: And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

16. The Fate of the Serpent

On your belly will you go, and dust you will eat, all the days of your life.KJVKJV: And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
18. 15BSBAnd I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”KJVKJV: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

19. The Punishment of Mankind

20. 16BSBTo the woman He said: “I will sharply increase your pain in childbirth; in pain you will bring forth children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”KJVKJV: Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
21. 17BSBAnd to Adam He said: “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat, cursed is the ground because of you; through toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.KJVKJV: And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
22. 18BSBBoth thorns and thistles it will yield for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.KJVKJV: Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
23. 19BSBBy the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground—because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”KJVKJV: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

And now, lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”KJVKJV: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
28. 23BSBTherefore the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.KJVKJV: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
29. 24BSBSo He drove out the man and stationed cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, along with a whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life.KJVKJV: So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
