4. 3BSBYou must not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not follow the practices of the land of Canaan, into which I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs.KJVKJV: After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
5. 4BSBYou are to practice My judgments and keep My statutes by walking in them. I am the LORD your God.KJVKJV: Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.
6. 5BSBKeep My statutes and My judgments, for the man who does these things will live by them. I am the LORD.KJVKJV: Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
7. 6BSBNone of you are to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.KJVKJV: None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
8. 7BSBYou must not expose the nakedness of your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual relations with her.KJVKJV: The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
9. 8BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; it would dishonor your father.KJVKJV: The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.
10. 9BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.KJVKJV: The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
11. 10BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for that would shame your family.KJVKJV: The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
12. 11BSBYou must not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.KJVKJV: The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
13. 12BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister: she is thy father’s near kinswoman.
14. 13BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s close relative.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.
15. 14BSBYou must not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations with her; she is your aunt.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
16. 15BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; you are not to have sexual relations with her.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
17. 16BSBYou must not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would shame your brother.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness.
18. 17BSBYou must not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. You are not to marry her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and have sexual relations with her. They are close relatives; it is depraved.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
19. 18BSBYou must not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is still alive.KJVKJV: Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
20. 19BSBYou must not approach a woman to have sexual relations with her during her menstrual period.KJVKJV: Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
21. 20BSBYou must not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife and thus defile yourself with her.KJVKJV: Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.
22. 21BSBYou must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.KJVKJV: And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
23. 22BSBYou must not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination.KJVKJV: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
24. 23BSBYou must not lie carnally with any animal, thus defiling yourself with it; a woman must not stand before an animal to mate with it; that is a perversion.KJVKJV: Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
25. 24BSBDo not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for by all these things the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves.KJVKJV: Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
26. 25BSBEven the land has become defiled, so I am punishing it for its sin, and the land will vomit out its inhabitants.KJVKJV: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
27. 26BSBBut you are to keep My statutes and ordinances, and you must not commit any of these abominations—neither your native-born nor the foreigner who lives among you.KJVKJV: Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
28. 27BSBFor the men who were in the land before you committed all these abominations, and the land has become defiled.KJVKJV: (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
29. 28BSBSo if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it spewed out the nations before you.KJVKJV: That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
30. 29BSBTherefore anyone who commits any of these abominations must be cut off from among his people.KJVKJV: For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
31. 30BSBYou must keep My charge not to practice any of the abominable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.”KJVKJV: Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.
