1. 1SNCPřinášíme a dosvědčujeme vám zvěst o tom, co bylo od počátku: o Ježíši, který je živé slovo – viditelný projev Otcova věčného života.BSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2SNCSlyšeli jsme ho, viděli jsme ho, sledovali jsme ho, dotýkali jsme se ho.BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3SNCPodáváme vám o něm zprávu, abyste se s námi sjednotili, jako jsme my zajedno s Otcem a s jeho Synem Ježíšem Kristem, aby se tím naše radost vzájemně znásobila.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 5SNCPředáváme vám poselství, které jsme přijali od Krista: Bůh je světlo a není v něm žádná tma.BSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
5. 6SNCTvrdíme-li, že máme k Bohu dobrý vztah, a přesto setrváváme ve tmě, lžeme a náš život je nepravdivý.BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
6. 7SNCŽijeme-li však stále ve světle Boží přítomnosti, krev Ježíše Krista, jeho Syna, nás očišťuje od každého hříchu a nic neruší náš vzájemný vztah.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
7. 8SNCTvrdíme-li, že nehřešíme, pak klameme sami sebe a nechceme si připustit pravdu.BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
8. 9SNCJestliže však své hříchy vyznáváme, smíme se spolehnout na Boží sliby, že nás očišťuje od každé špinavosti a promíjí nám každé selhání.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
9. 10SNCŘíkáme-li, že nic špatného neděláme, obviňujeme Boha ze lži a vůbec ho nechápeme.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
