1The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

2The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

3The sons of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

4Eleazar conceived Phinehas, and Phinehas conceived Abishua.Eleazar was the father of Phinehas, Phinehas was the father of Abishua,

5Truly, Abishua conceived Bukki, and Bukki conceived Uzzi.Abishua was the father of Bukki, Bukki was the father of Uzzi,

6Uzzi conceived Zerahiah, and Zerahiah conceived Meraioth.Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth,

7Then Meraioth conceived Amariah, and Amariah conceived Ahitub.Meraioth was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

8Ahitub conceived Zadok, and Zadok conceived Ahimaaz.Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,

9Ahimaaz conceived Azariah; Azariah conceived Johanan.Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Johanan,

10Johanan conceived Azariah. He is the one who executed the priestly office in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem.Johanan was the father of Azariah, who served as priest in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem,

11Now Azariah conceived Amariah, and Amariah conceived Ahitub.Azariah was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

12Ahitub conceived Zadok, and Zadok conceived Shallum.Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Shallum,

13Shallum conceived Hilkiah, and Hilkiah conceived Azariah.Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,

14Azariah conceived Seraiah, and Seraiah conceived Jehozadak.Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.

15Now Jehozadak departed, when the Lord took away Judah and Jerusalem, by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar.Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

16So the sons of Levi were Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

17And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

18The sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

19The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. And so these are the kindred of Levi, according to their families.The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites listed according to their fathers:

20Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,

21Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeatherai his son.Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.

22The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,The descendants of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,

23Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,

24Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, Shaul his son.Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.

25The sons of Elkanah: Amasai and AhimothThe descendants of Elkanah: Amasai, Ahimoth,

26and Elkanah. The sons of Elkanah: Zophai his son, Nahath his son,Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son,

27Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.

28The sons of Samuel: Vasseni the firstborn, and Abijah.The sons of Samuel: Joel his firstborn and Abijah his second son.

29Now the sons of Merari were: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,The descendants of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,

30Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

31These are the ones whom David appointed over the singing men in the house of the Lord, in the place where the ark was located.These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the LORD after the ark rested there.

32And they ministered before the tabernacle of the testimony with singing, until Solomon built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. And they would stand according to their order in the ministry.They ministered with song before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. And they performed their duties according to the regulations given them.

33Truly, these are the ones who were assisting, with their sons, from the sons of Kohath: the singer Heman, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,These are the men who served, together with their sons. From the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

38the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39And there was also his brother, Asaph, who was standing at his right, Asaph, the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,Heman’s kinsman was Asaph, who served at his right hand: Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

40the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,

41the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

42the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,

43the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

44Now the sons of Merari, their brothers, were on the left: Ethan, the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,On the left were their kinsmen, the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

45the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

46the son of Amzi, the son of Boni, the son of Shemer,the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,

47the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48There were also their brothers, Levites who were appointed for every ministry of the tabernacle of the house of the Lord.Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.

49Truly, Aaron and his sons were burning offerings upon the altar of holocausts and upon the altar of incense, for the entire work of the Holy of Holies, and to pray on behalf of Israel, in accord with all the things that Moses, the servant of God, had instructed.But Aaron and his sons did all the work of the Most Holy Place. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50Now these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,These were the descendants of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

51Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

52Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

53Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.

54And these are their habitations according to the villages and confines, specifically of the sons of Aaron, according to the kindred of the Kohathites. For it fell to them by lot.Now these were the territories assigned to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clan for their settlements, because the first lot fell to them:

55And so, they gave Hebron, in the land of Judah, and its suburbs all around, to them,They were given Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands.

56but they gave the fields of the city, and the villages, to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

57Then, to the sons of Aaron, they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah with its suburbs,So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,

58also Jattir and Eshtemoa with their suburbs, then also Hilen and Debir with their suburbs,Hilen, Debir,

59as well as Ashan and Beth-shemesh with their suburbs.Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, together with their pasturelands.

60And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its suburbs, and Alemeth with its suburbs, as well as Anathoth with its suburbs. All the cities throughout their kindred were thirteen.And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, together with their pasturelands. So they had thirteen cities in all among their families.

61Now to the sons of Kohath, those remaining from their kindred, they gave ten cities, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, as a possession;To the rest of the Kohathites, ten cities were allotted from the half-tribe of Manasseh.

62and to the sons of Gershom, according to their families, from the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe Manasseh in Bashan: thirteen cities.The Gershomites, according to their clans, were allotted thirteen cities from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.

63Then to the sons of Merari, according to their families, from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, they gave by lot twelve cities.The Merarites, according to their clans, were allotted twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

64Also, the sons of Israel gave, to the Levites, cities and their suburbs,So the Israelites gave to the Levites these cities and their pasturelands.

65and they gave them by lot, out of the tribe of the sons of Judah, and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities, which they called by their names.They assigned by lot the cities named above from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

66And for those who were from the kindred of the sons of Kohath, the cities with their borders were from the tribe of Ephraim.And some of the clans of the Kohathites were given cities from the tribe of Ephraim for their territory:

67Then they gave to them the cities of refuge: Shechem with its suburbs on mount Ephraim, and Gezer with its suburbs,They were given Shechem (a city of refuge) with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer,

68as well as Jokmeam with its suburbs, and Beth-horon similarly,Jokmeam, Beth-horon,

69and indeed Hilen with its suburbs, and Gath Rimmon in the same manner.Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon, together with their pasturelands.

70Then too, out of the one half tribe of Manasseh: Aner and its suburbs, Bileam and its suburbs; these in particular went to those who were remaining from the kindred of the sons of Kohath.And from the half-tribe of Manasseh the rest of the clans of the Kohathites were given Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands.

71And to the sons of Gershom, from the kindred of the one half tribe of Manasseh: Golan, in Bashan, and its suburbs, and Ashtaroth with its suburbs;The Gershomites received the following: From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands.

72from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh and its suburbs, and Daberath with its suburbs,From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kedesh, Daberath,

73as well as Ramoth and its suburbs, and Anem with its suburbs;Ramoth, and Anem, together with their pasturelands.

74truly, from the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its suburbs, and Abdon similarly;From the tribe of Asher they were given Mashal, Abdon,

75as well as Hukkok and its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs;Hukok, and Rehob, together with their pasturelands.

76moreover, from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee and its suburbs, Hammon with its suburbs, and Kiriathaim and its suburbs.And from the tribe of Naphtali they were given Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, together with their pasturelands.

77Then to the remaining sons of Merari, from the tribe of Zebulun: Rimmono and its suburbs, and Tabor with its suburbs;The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following: From the tribe of Zebulun they were given Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands.

78and also, across the Jordan opposite Jericho, facing the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its suburbs, and Jahzah with its suburbs;From the tribe of Reuben east of the Jordan opposite Jericho they were given Bezer in the wilderness, Jahzah,

79as well as Kedemoth and its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs;Kedemoth, and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands.

80indeed also, from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs, and Mahanaim with its suburbs;And from the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,

81then too, Heshbon with its suburbs, and Jazer with its suburbs.Heshbon, and Jazer, together with their pasturelands.
