The Order of the Camps 1 CPDV And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 CPDV “Each one shall make camp, by their troops, as well as by their insignia and standards, and by the houses of their kinships, all around the tabernacle of the covenant.” BSB BSB: “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
3 CPDV To the east, Judah shall fix his tents, by the companies of his army. And the leader of his sons shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab. BSB BSB: On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,
4 CPDV And the entire total of the fighting men from his stock was seventy-four thousand six hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 74,600.
5 CPDV Beside him, those of the tribe of Issachar were encamped, whose leader was Nathanael the son of Zuar. BSB BSB: The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
6 CPDV And the entire number of his fighting men was fifty-four thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 54,400.
7 CPDV In the tribe of Zebulon, the leader was Eliab the son of Helon. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
8 CPDV All the army of fighting men from his stock were fifty-seven thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 57,400.
9 CPDV All who were numbered in the camp of Judah were one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred. And these, by their companies, shall go forth first. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.
10 CPDV In the camp of the sons of Ruben, toward the south side, the leader shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur. BSB BSB: On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,
11 CPDV And the entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were forty-six thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 46,500.
12 CPDV Beside him, those of the tribe of Simeon were encamped, whose leader was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. BSB BSB: The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
13 CPDV And the entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 59,300.
14 CPDV In the tribe of Gad, the leader was Eliasaph the son of Reuel. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
15 CPDV And the entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 45,650.
16 CPDV All who were counted in the camp of Ruben were one hundred fifty thousand and one thousand four hundred fifty, by their companies. These shall advance in the second place. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.
17 CPDV But the tabernacle of the testimony shall be lifted up by the officers of the Levites and their companies. In the manner in which it is set up, so also shall it be taken down. Each one shall advance according to their places and ranks. BSB BSB: In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
18 CPDV On the west side, there shall be the camp of the sons of Ephraim, whose leader was Elishama the son of Ammihud. BSB BSB: On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,
19 CPDV The entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were forty thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 40,500.
20 CPDV And with them was the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, whose leader was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. BSB BSB: The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
21 CPDV And the entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were thirty-two thousand two hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 32,200.
22 CPDV In the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, the leader was Abidan the son of Gideoni. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
23 CPDV And the entire army of his fighting men, who were counted, were thirty-five thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 35,400.
24 CPDV All who were numbered in the camp of Ephraim were one hundred eight thousand one hundred, by their companies. These shall advance third. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.
25 CPDV Toward the north side, the sons of Dan were encamped, whose leader was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. BSB BSB: On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,
26 CPDV The entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 62,700.
27 CPDV Beside him, those of the tribe of Asher fixed their tents, whose leader was Pagiel the son of Ochran. BSB BSB: The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
28 CPDV The entire army of his fighting men, who were numbered, were forty thousand and one thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 41,500.
29 CPDV From the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, the leader was Ahira the son of Enan. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
30 CPDV The entire army of his fighting men were fifty-three thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 53,400.
31 CPDV All who were numbered in the camp of Dan were one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred; and these shall advance at the very end. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”
32 CPDV This is the number of the sons of Israel, of their army divided by the houses of their kinships and their companies: six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty. BSB BSB: These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.
33 CPDV But the Levites were not numbered among the sons of Israel. For so the Lord had instructed Moses. BSB BSB: But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
34 CPDV And the sons of Israel acted according to all the things that the Lord had commanded. They were encamped by their companies, and they advanced by the families and houses of their fathers. BSB BSB: So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
