I Will Sing of His Love Forever 1 CPDV The understanding of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing the mercies of the Lord in eternity. I will sing of the loving devotion of the LORD forever; with my mouth I will proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations.
2 CPDV For you have said: Mercy will be built in the heavens, unto eternity. Your truth will be prepared there. BSB BSB: For I have said, “Loving devotion is built up forever; in the heavens You establish Your faithfulness.”
3 CPDV I have set up a covenant with my elect. I have sworn to David my servant: BSB BSB: You said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant:
4 CPDV I will prepare your offspring, even in eternity. And I will build up your throne, from generation to generation. BSB BSB: ‘I will establish your offspring forever and build up your throne for all generations.’” Selah
5 CPDV The heavens will confess your miracles, Lord, and also your truth, in the Church of the saints. BSB BSB: The heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD—Your faithfulness as well—in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 CPDV For who among the clouds is equal to the Lord? Who among the sons of God is like God? BSB BSB: For who in the skies can compare with the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD?
7 CPDV God is glorified by the counsel of the saints. He is great and terrible above all those who are around him. BSB BSB: In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him.
8 CPDV O Lord, God of hosts, who is like you? You are powerful, Lord, and your truth is all around you. BSB BSB: O LORD God of Hosts, who is like You? O mighty LORD, Your faithfulness surrounds You.
9 CPDV You rule over the power of the sea, and you even mitigate the movement of its waves. BSB BSB: You rule the raging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them.
10 CPDV You have humbled the arrogant one, like one who has been wounded. You have scattered your enemies with the arm of your strength. BSB BSB: You crushed Rahab like a carcass; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
11 CPDV Yours are the heavens, and yours is the earth. You founded the whole world in all its fullness. BSB BSB: The heavens are Yours, and also the earth. The earth and its fullness You founded.
12 CPDV You created the north and the sea. Tabor and Hermon will exult in your name. BSB BSB: North and south You created; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.
13 CPDV Your arm acts with power. Let your hand be strengthened, and let your right hand be exalted. BSB BSB: Mighty is Your arm; strong is Your hand. Your right hand is exalted.
14 CPDV Justice and judgment are the preparation of your throne. Mercy and truth will precede your face. BSB BSB: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and faithfulness go before You.
15 CPDV Blessed is the people that knows jubilation. They will walk in the light of your countenance, O Lord, BSB BSB: Blessed are those who know the joyful sound, who walk, O LORD, in the light of Your presence.
16 CPDV and they will exult in your name all day long, and they will be exalted in your justice. BSB BSB: They rejoice in Your name all day long, and in Your righteousness they exult.
17 CPDV For you are the glory of their virtue, and in your goodness, our horn will be exalted. BSB BSB: For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted.
18 CPDV For our assumption is of the Lord, and it is of our king, the holy one of Israel. BSB BSB: Surely our shield belongs to the LORD, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 CPDV Then you spoke in a vision to your holy ones, and you said: I have stationed help with the powerful one, and I have exalted the elect one from my people. BSB BSB: You once spoke in a vision; to Your godly ones You said, “I have bestowed help on a warrior; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 CPDV I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil. BSB BSB: I have found My servant David; with My sacred oil I have anointed him.
21 CPDV For my hand will assist him, and my arm will fortify him. BSB BSB: My hand will sustain him; surely My arm will strengthen him.
22 CPDV The enemy will have no advantage over him, nor will the son of iniquity be positioned to harm him. BSB BSB: No enemy will exact tribute; no wicked man will oppress him.
23 CPDV And I will cut down his enemies before his face. And those who hate him, I will turn to flight. BSB BSB: I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.
24 CPDV And my truth and my mercy will be with him. And his horn will be exalted in my name. BSB BSB: My faithfulness and loving devotion will be with him, and through My name his horn will be exalted.
25 CPDV And I will place his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers. BSB BSB: I will set his hand over the sea, and his right hand upon the rivers.
26 CPDV He will invoke me: “You are my father, my God, and the support of my salvation.” BSB BSB: He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock of my salvation.’
27 CPDV And I will make him the first-born, preeminent before the kings of the earth. BSB BSB: I will indeed appoint him as My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 CPDV I will preserve my mercy for him eternally, and my covenant for him faithfully. BSB BSB: I will forever preserve My loving devotion for him, and My covenant with him will stand fast.
29 CPDV And I will set his offspring from generation to generation, and his throne like the days of heaven. BSB BSB: I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
30 CPDV But if his sons abandon my law, and if they do not walk in my judgments, BSB BSB: If his sons forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments,
31 CPDV if they profane my justices, and if they do not keep my commandments: BSB BSB: if they violate My statutes and fail to keep My commandments,
32 CPDV I will visit their iniquities with a rod, and their sins with a beating. BSB BSB: I will attend to their transgression with the rod, and to their iniquity with stripes.
33 CPDV But I will not scatter my mercy from him, and I will not do harm to my truth. BSB BSB: But I will not withdraw My loving devotion from him, nor ever betray My faithfulness.
34 CPDV And I will not profane my covenant, and I will not make void that which proceeds from my lips. BSB BSB: I will not violate My covenant or alter the utterance of My lips.
35 CPDV I have sworn by my holiness one time: I will not lie to David, BSB BSB: Once and for all I have sworn by My holiness—I will not lie to David—
36 CPDV his offspring will remain for eternity. And his throne will be like the sun in my sight, BSB BSB: his offspring shall endure forever, and his throne before Me like the sun,
37 CPDV and, like the moon, it is perfected in eternity, and it is a faithful witness in heaven. BSB BSB: like the moon, established forever, a faithful witness in the sky.” Selah
38 CPDV Yet, truly, you have rejected and despised, you have pushed away, my Christ. BSB BSB: Now, however, You have spurned and rejected him; You are enraged by Your anointed one.
39 CPDV You have overthrown the covenant of your servant. You have profaned his sanctuary on earth. BSB BSB: You have renounced the covenant with Your servant and sullied his crown in the dust.
40 CPDV You have destroyed all his fences. You have made his territory dreadful. BSB BSB: You have broken down all his walls; You have reduced his strongholds to rubble.
41 CPDV All who pass by the way have plundered him. He has become a disgrace to his neighbors. BSB BSB: All who pass by plunder him; he has become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 CPDV You have exalted the right hand of those who oppress him. You have brought joy to all his enemies. BSB BSB: You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 CPDV You have diverted the help of his sword, and you have not assisted him in battle. BSB BSB: You have bent the edge of his sword and have not sustained him in battle.
44 CPDV You have torn him away from cleansing, and you have smashed his throne down to the ground. BSB BSB: You have ended his splendor and cast his throne to the ground.
45 CPDV You have reduced the days of his time. You have flooded him with confusion. BSB BSB: You have cut short the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah
46 CPDV How long, O Lord? Will you turn away unto the end? Will your wrath flare up like a fire? BSB BSB: How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath keep burning like fire?
47 CPDV Remember what my substance is. For could you really have appointed all the sons of men in vain? BSB BSB: Remember the briefness of my lifespan! For what futility You have created all men!
48 CPDV Who is the man that will live, and yet not see death? Who will rescue his own soul from the hand of the underworld? BSB BSB: What man can live and never see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah
49 CPDV O Lord, where are your mercies of antiquity, just as you swore to David in your truth? BSB BSB: Where, O Lord, is Your loving devotion of old, which You faithfully swore to David?
50 CPDV Be mindful, O Lord, of the disgrace of your servants (which I have sustained in my sinews) among many nations. BSB BSB: Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants, which I bear in my heart from so many people—
51 CPDV With these, your enemies have reproached you, O Lord; with these, they have reproached the commutation of your Christ. BSB BSB: how Your enemies have taunted, O LORD, and have mocked every step of Your anointed one!
52 CPDV Blessed is the Lord for all eternity. Amen. Amen. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and amen.
