The Vision of the Measuring Line (Ezekiel 40:1–4)
CPDV And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw, and behold, a man, and in his hand was a measuring line. BSB BSB: Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
CPDV And I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, so that I may see how great its width and how great its length may be.” BSB BSB: “Where are you going?” I asked. “To measure Jerusalem,” he replied, “and to determine its width and length.”
CPDV And behold, the angel, who had been speaking with me, departed, and another angel went out to meet him. BSB BSB: Then the angel who was speaking with me went forth, and another angel came forward to meet him
CPDV And he said to him: Hurry, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls, because of the multitude of men and beasts of burden in its midst. BSB BSB: and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and livestock within it.
CPDV And I will be to it, says the Lord, a wall of fire all around. And in glory, I will be in its midst. BSB BSB: For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’”
The Redemption of Zion (Hosea 3:1–5)
CPDV O, O flee from the land of the North, says the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, says the Lord. BSB BSB: “Get up! Get up! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
CPDV O Zion, flee, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. BSB BSB: “Get up, O Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the Daughter of Babylon!”
CPDV For thus says the Lord of hosts: After the glory, he has sent me to the Gentiles, which have despoiled you. For he who touches you, touches the pupil of my eye. BSB BSB: For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—
CPDV For behold, I lift up my hand over them, and they will be a prey to those who had served them. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me. BSB BSB: I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
CPDV Sing praise and rejoice, daughter of Zion. For behold, I approach, and I will dwell in your midst, says the Lord. BSB BSB: “Shout for joy and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming to dwell among you,” declares the LORD.
CPDV And many nations will be joined to the Lord in that day, and they will be my people, and I will dwell in your midst. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. BSB BSB: “On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you.
CPDV And the Lord will possess his portion, Judah, in the sanctified land, and still he will single out Jerusalem. BSB BSB: And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.
CPDV Let all flesh be silent before the face of the Lord: for he has arisen from his holy dwelling place. BSB BSB: Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
