Evil in the Last Days 1 DBY But this know, that in the last days difficult times shall be there; BSB BSB: But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come.
2 DBY for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, BSB BSB: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 DBY without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good, BSB BSB: unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good,
4 DBY traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; BSB BSB: traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
6 DBY For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts, BSB BSB: They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions,
7 DBY always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. BSB BSB: who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
8 DBY Now in the same manner in which Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, thus these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, found worthless as regards the faith. BSB BSB: Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and disqualified from the faith.
9 DBY But they shall not advance farther; for their folly shall be completely manifest to all, as that of those also became. BSB BSB: But they will not advance much further. For just like Jannes and Jambres, their folly will be plain to everyone.

BSB BSB: my persecutions, and the sufferings that came upon me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.
12 DBY And all indeed who desire to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. BSB BSB: Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13 DBY But wicked men and juggling impostors shall advance in evil, leading and being led astray. BSB BSB: while evil men and imposters go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 DBY But thou, abide in those things which thou hast learned, and of which thou hast been fully persuaded, knowing of whom thou hast learned them ; BSB BSB: But as for you, continue in the things you have learned and firmly believed, since you know from whom you have learned them.
15 DBY and that from a child thou hast known the sacred letters, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus. BSB BSB: From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
17 DBY that the man of God may be complete, fully fitted to every good work. BSB BSB: so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
