DBY Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the animals which ye shall eat of all the beasts which are on the earth. BSB BSB: “Say to the Israelites, ‘Of all the beasts of the earth, these ones you may eat:
DBY Whatever hath cloven hoofs, and feet quite split open, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts — that shall ye eat. BSB BSB: You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.
DBY Only these shall ye not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with cloven hoofs: the camel, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs — it shall be unclean unto you; BSB BSB: But of those that only chew the cud or only have a divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
DBY and the rock-badger, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs — it shall be unclean unto you; BSB BSB: The rock badger, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
DBY and the hare, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs — it shall be unclean unto you; BSB BSB: The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
DBY Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch: they shall be unclean unto you. BSB BSB: You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.
DBY These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatever hath fins and scales in waters, in seas and in rivers, these shall ye eat; BSB BSB: Of all the creatures that live in the water, whether in the seas or in the streams, you may eat anything with fins and scales.
DBY but all that have not fins and scales in seas and in rivers, of all that swarm in the waters, and of every living soul which is in the waters — they shall be an abomination unto you. BSB BSB: But the following among all the teeming life and creatures in the water are detestable to you: everything in the seas or streams that does not have fins and scales.
DBY They shall be even an abomination unto you: of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase ye shall have in abomination. BSB BSB: They shall be an abomination to you; you must not eat their meat, and you must detest their carcasses.
DBY Whatever in the waters hath no fins and scales, that shall be an abomination unto you. BSB BSB: Everything in the water that does not have fins and scales shall be detestable to you.
DBY And these shall ye have in abomination of the fowls; they shall not be eaten; an abomination shall they be: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle, BSB BSB: Additionally, you are to detest the following birds, and they must not be eaten because they are detestable: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,
DBY and the falcon, and the kite, after its kind; BSB BSB: the kite, any kind of falcon,
DBY every raven after its kind; BSB BSB: any kind of raven,
DBY and the female ostrich and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk, after its kind; BSB BSB: the ostrich, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

DBY and the stork; the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. BSB BSB: the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.
DBY Every winged crawling thing that goeth upon all four shall be an abomination unto you. BSB BSB: All flying insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you.
DBY Yet these shall ye eat of every winged crawling thing that goeth upon all four: those which have legs above their feet with which to leap upon the earth. BSB BSB: However, you may eat the following kinds of flying insects that walk on all fours: those having jointed legs above their feet for hopping on the ground.
DBY These shall ye eat of them: the arbeh after its kind, and the solam after its kind, and the hargol after its kind, and the hargab after its kind. BSB BSB: Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket, or grasshopper.
DBY But every winged crawling thing that hath four feet shall be an abomination unto you. BSB BSB: All other flying insects that have four legs are detestable to you.
DBY And by these ye shall make yourselves unclean; whoever toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. BSB BSB: These creatures will make you unclean. Whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening,
DBY And whoever carrieth ought of their carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even. BSB BSB: and whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean until evening.
DBY Every beast that hath cloven hoofs, but not feet quite split open, nor cheweth the cud, shall be unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. BSB BSB: Every animal with hooves not completely divided or that does not chew the cud is unclean for you. Whoever touches any of them will be unclean.
DBY And whatever goeth on its paws, among all manner of beasts that go upon all four, those are unclean unto you: whoever toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. BSB BSB: All the four-footed animals that walk on their paws are unclean for you; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening,
DBY And he that carrieth their carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even: they shall be unclean unto you. BSB BSB: and anyone who picks up a carcass must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean until evening. They are unclean for you.
DBY And these shall be unclean unto you among the crawling things which crawl on the earth: the mole, and the field-mouse, and the lizard, after its kind; BSB BSB: The following creatures that move along the ground are unclean for you: the mole, the mouse, any kind of great lizard,
DBY and the groaning lizard, and the great red lizard, and the climbing lizard, and the chomet, and the chameleon. BSB BSB: the gecko, the monitor lizard, the common lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
DBY These shall be unclean unto you among all that crawl: whoever toucheth them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even. BSB BSB: These animals are unclean for you among all the crawling creatures. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.
DBY And on whatever any of them when they are dead doth fall, it shall be unclean; all vessels of wood, or garment, or skin, or sack, every vessel wherewith work is done — it shall be put into water, and be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean. BSB BSB: When one of them dies and falls on something, that article becomes unclean; any article of wood, clothing, leather, sackcloth, or any implement used for work must be rinsed with water and will remain unclean until evening; then it will be clean.
DBY And every earthen vessel into which any of them falleth — whatever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it. BSB BSB: If any of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean; you must break the pot.
DBY All food that is eaten on which such water hath come shall be unclean; and all drink that is drunk shall be unclean, in every such vessel. BSB BSB: Any food coming into contact with water from that pot will be unclean, and any drink in such a container will be unclean.
DBY And everything where upon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; oven and hearth shall be broken down: they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you. BSB BSB: Anything upon which one of their carcasses falls will be unclean. If it is an oven or cooking pot, it must be smashed; it is unclean and will remain unclean for you.
DBY Nevertheless, a spring or a well, a quantity of water, shall be clean. But he that toucheth their carcase shall be unclean. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, a spring or cistern containing water will remain clean, but one who touches a carcass in it will be unclean.
DBY And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing-seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean; BSB BSB: If a carcass falls on any seed for sowing, the seed is clean;
DBY but if water have been put on the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you. BSB BSB: but if water has been put on the seed and a carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.

DBY And every crawling thing which crawleth on the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten. BSB BSB: Every creature that moves along the ground is detestable; it must not be eaten.
DBY Whatever goeth on the belly, and whatever goeth on all four, and all that have a great many feet, of every manner of crawling thing which crawleth on the earth — these ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination. BSB BSB: Do not eat any creature that moves along the ground, whether it crawls on its belly or walks on four or more feet; for such creatures are detestable.
DBY Ye shall not make yourselves abominable through any crawling thing which crawleth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. BSB BSB: Do not defile yourselves by any crawling creature; do not become unclean or defiled by them.
DBY For I am Jehovah your God; and ye shall hallow yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean through any manner of crawling thing which creepeth on the earth. BSB BSB: For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves by any creature that crawls along the ground.
DBY For I am Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. BSB BSB: For I am the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt so that I would be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.
DBY This is the law of cattle, and of fowl, and of every living soul that moveth in the waters, and of every soul that crawleth on the earth; BSB BSB: This is the law regarding animals, birds, all living creatures that move in the water, and all creatures that crawl along the ground.
DBY to make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that is to be eaten and the beast that is not to be eaten. BSB BSB: You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between animals that may be eaten and those that may not.’”
