DBY But the disciples seeing it became indignant, saying, To what end was this waste? BSB BSB: When the disciples saw this, they were indignant and asked, “Why this waste?
DBY for this might have been sold for much and been given to the poor. BSB BSB: This perfume could have been sold at a high price, and the money given to the poor.”
DBY But Jesus knowing it said to them, Why do ye trouble the woman? for she has wrought a good work toward me. BSB BSB: Aware of this, Jesus asked, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful deed to Me.
DBY For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always. BSB BSB: The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have Me.
DBY For in pouring out this ointment on my body, she has done it for my burying. BSB BSB: By pouring this perfume on Me, she has prepared My body for burial.
DBY Verily I say to you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. BSB BSB: Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached in all the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

DBY And being exceedingly grieved they began to say to him, each of them, Is it I, Lord? BSB BSB: They were deeply grieved and began to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?”
DBY But he answering said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, he it is who shall deliver me up. BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with Me will betray Me.
DBY The Son of man goes indeed, according as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up; it were good for that man if he had not been born. BSB BSB: The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
DBY And Judas, who delivered him up, answering said, Is it I, Rabbi? He says to him, Thou hast said. BSB BSB: Then Judas, who would betray Him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said it yourself.”

DBY Then saith Jesus to them, All ye shall be offended in me during this night. For it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. BSB BSB: Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
DBY But after that I shall be risen, I will go before you to Galilee. BSB BSB: But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”

DBY Then he says to them, My soul is very sorrowful even unto death; remain here and watch with me. BSB BSB: Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”
DBY And going forward a little he fell upon his face, praying and saying, My Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but as thou wilt . BSB BSB: Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”
DBY And he comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and says to Peter, Thus ye have not been able to watch one hour with me? BSB BSB: Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter.
DBY Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh weak. BSB BSB: “Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
DBY Again going away a second time he prayed saying, My Father, if this cannot pass from me unless I drink it, thy will be done. BSB BSB: A second time He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”

DBY Or thinkest thou that I cannot now call upon my Father, and he will furnish me more than twelve legions of angels? BSB BSB: Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
DBY How then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be? BSB BSB: But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”
DBY In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me. BSB BSB: At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw? Every day I sat teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me.

DBY And after a little, those who stood there , coming to him , said to Peter, Truly thou too art of them, for also thy speech makes thee manifest. BSB BSB: After a little while, those standing nearby came up to Peter. “Surely you are one of them,” they said, “for your accent gives you away.”
DBY Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. BSB BSB: At that he began to curse and swear to them, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.
DBY And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said to him , Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went forth without, and wept bitterly. BSB BSB: Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.
