The Order of the Camps 1 DBY And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 DBY The children of Israel shall encamp every one by his standard, with the ensign of their father's house; round about the tent of meeting, afar off, opposite to it shall they encamp. BSB BSB: “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
3 DBY And for those encamping eastward toward the sun-rising there shall be the standard of the camp of Judah according to their hosts; and the prince of the sons of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab; BSB BSB: On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,
4 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, were seventy-four thousand six hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 74,600.
5 DBY And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar; and the prince of the sons of Issachar shall be Nethaneel the son of Zuar; BSB BSB: The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
6 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered thereof, fifty-four thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 54,400.
7 DBY With them shall be the tribe of Zebulun; and the prince of the sons of Zebulun shall be Eliab the son of Helon;BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
8 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered thereof, fifty-seven thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 57,400.
9 DBY All that were numbered of the camp of Judah were a hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their hosts. They shall set forth first. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.
10 DBY The standard of the camp of Reuben shall be southward according to their hosts; and the prince of the sons of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur; BSB BSB: On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,
11 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered thereof, forty-six thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 46,500.
12 DBY And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Simeon; and the prince of the sons of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai; BSB BSB: The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
13 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, fifty-nine thousand three hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 59,300.
14 DBY And with them shall be the tribe of Gad; and the prince of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel; BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
15 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 45,650.
16 DBY All that were numbered of the camp of Reuben were a hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth second. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.
17 DBY And the tent of meeting shall set forth, the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps; as they encamp, so shall they set forth, every man in his place, according to their standards. BSB BSB: In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
18 DBY The standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their hosts shall be westward; and the prince of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud; BSB BSB: On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,
19 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, forty thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 40,500.
20 DBY And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh; and the prince of the sons of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur; BSB BSB: The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
21 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, thirty-two thousand two hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 32,200.
22 DBY And with them shall be the tribe of Benjamin; and the prince of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni; BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
23 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, thirty-five thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 35,400.
24 DBY All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were a hundred and eight thousand one hundred, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth third. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.
25 DBY The standard of the camp of Dan shall be northward according to their hosts; and the prince of the sons of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai; BSB BSB: On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,
26 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, sixty-two thousand seven hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 62,700.
27 DBY And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher; and the prince of the sons of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran; BSB BSB: The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
28 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, forty-one thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 41,500.
29 DBY And with them shall be the tribe of Naphtali; and the prince of the sons of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan; BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
30 DBY and his host, even those that were numbered of them, fifty-three thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 53,400.
31 DBY All that were numbered of the camp of Dan were a hundred and fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They shall set forth last according to their standards. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”
32 DBY These are those that were numbered of the children of Israel, according to their fathers' houses: all those that were numbered of the camps, according to their hosts, were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.
33 DBY But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. BSB BSB: But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
34 DBY And the children of Israel did according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses: so they encamped according to their standards, and so they journeyed, every one according to their families, according to their fathers' houses. BSB BSB: So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
