Walking by the Spirit (Ezekiel 36:16–38; Galatians 5:16–26)
DBY There is then now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.BSB BSB: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
DBY For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death. BSB BSB: For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
DBY For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, having sent his own Son, in likeness of flesh of sin, and for sin, has condemned sin in the flesh, BSB BSB: For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
DBY in order that the righteous requirement of the law should be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to flesh but according to Spirit. BSB BSB: so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
DBY For they that are according to flesh mind the things of the flesh; and they that are according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit. BSB BSB: Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
DBY For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit life and peace. BSB BSB: The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
DBY Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God; for neither indeed can it be: BSB BSB: because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
DBY and they that are in flesh cannot please God. BSB BSB: Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.
DBY but if Christ be in you, the body is dead on account of sin, but the Spirit life on account of righteousness. BSB BSB: But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
DBY But if the Spirit of him that has raised up Jesus from among the dead dwell in you, he that has raised up Christ from among the dead shall quicken your mortal bodies also on account of his Spirit which dwells in you. BSB BSB: And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
Heirs with Christ 12 DBY So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh; BSB BSB: Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
DBY for if ye live according to flesh, ye are about to die; but if, by the Spirit, ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live: BSB BSB: For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
DBY for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. BSB BSB: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
DBY And if children, heirs also: heirs of God, and Christ's joint heirs; if indeed we suffer with him , that we may also be glorified with him . BSB BSB: And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Future Glory (2 Corinthians 5:1–10)
DBY that the creature itself also shall be set free from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. BSB BSB: that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
DBY For we know that the whole creation groans together and travails in pain together until now. BSB BSB: We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.
DBY And not only that , but even we ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, we also ourselves groan in ourselves, awaiting adoption, that is the redemption of our body. BSB BSB: Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
DBY For we have been saved in hope; but hope seen is not hope; for what any one sees, why does he also hope? BSB BSB: For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
DBY But if what we see not we hope, we expect in patience. BSB BSB: But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
DBY And in like manner the Spirit joins also its help to our weakness; for we do not know what we should pray for as is fitting, but the Spirit itself makes intercession with groanings which cannot be uttered. BSB BSB: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
DBY But he who searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for saints according to God. BSB BSB: And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
God Works in All Things (Ephesians 1:3–14)
DBY But we do know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to purpose. BSB BSB: And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
DBY Because whom he has foreknown, he has also predestinated to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he should be the firstborn among many brethren. BSB BSB: For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
DBY But whom he has predestinated, these also he has called; and whom he has called, these also he has justified; but whom he has justified, these also he has glorified. BSB BSB: And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
DBY Who shall bring an accusation against God's elect? It is God who justifies: BSB BSB: Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
DBY who is he that condemns? It is Christ who has died, but rather has been also raised up; who is also at the right hand of God; who also intercedes for us. BSB BSB: Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.
More than Conquerors (Psalm 44:1–26)
DBY Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? BSB BSB: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
DBY According as it is written, For thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we have been reckoned as sheep for slaughter. BSB BSB: As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
DBY But in all these things we more than conquer through him that has loved us. BSB BSB: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
DBY For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, BSB BSB: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 DBY nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. BSB BSB: neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
